[h=2]WIZARDS AT PISTONS, 7:30 p.m. ET[/h] October 30, 2013 · 6:52PM
TV: League Pass

  • With Brandon Jennings (hairline fracture, mandible) and Rodney Stuckey (fractured thumb) out, the Pistons will start Chauncey Billups and Will Bynum in the backcourt. Coach Mo Cheeks did not want to throw rookies Kentavious Caldwell-Pope or Peyton Siva into the fire that quickly. “I’d rather have two guys that have played a lot of basketball before,” he said. “I didn’t want to put that pressure on (the rookies). I didn’t think it would be fair to them.”
  • Cheeks will be making his Pistons head coaching debut but he’s been the head man in Portland and Philadelphia previously. “It’s not that much difference for me,” he said. “I learned a long time ago after getting traded a few times that it may be a different venue but it’s still basketball.”
  • Washington had only seven road wins last season and knows it needs to get much better away from home to reach its playoff goal. “To get where we want to get, that’s got to improve,” Coach Randy Wittman said. “What better time to do it than the first game? Opening night, whether it’s on the road or home, is kind of a special night. Our guys are excited and I’m excited.”
  • Recently acquired Marcin Gortat will be needed to combat the Pistons’ imposing frontcourt but Wittman isn’t sure how much he’ll play the 6-foot-11 center. “It’s a feel thing,” he said. “I like what I’ve seen. He’s picked up some things very quickly and he’s got a good sense of the game.”

[h=2]CELTICS AT RAPTORS, 7 P.M. ET[/h] October 30, 2013 · 6:16PM
TV: League Pass

  • Boston Celtics (0-0) forward Jared Sullinger will not be available, as the team has suspended him for one game for his involvement in domestic violence charges, (which have since been dropped). Rookie center Vitor Faverani will be starting in his first ever NBA game.

  • The Toronto Raptors (0-0), are 9-9 (.500) in season opening games and 6-6 (.500) when played at the Air Canada Centre, however they have lost their last three home openers.

  • “It’s not as interesting as you want it to be, but I’m just ready to go. My biggest thing at this time of the year, is you want your team to play hard and play to it’s best.”
    – Celtics Head Coach Brad Stevens on his feelings going into his first NBA regular season game.

[h=2]HEAT AT 76ERS, 7 P.M. ET[/h] October 30, 2013 · 6:03PM
TV: League Pass

  • The Heat have won 15 straight regular season games against the Sixers, their longest current streak.
  • Miami hit 11 3-pointers in Tuesday’s season-opening win against the Chicago Bulls. It has won 39 consecutive games when knocking down at least 10 treys in a game.
  • LeBron James has scored in double figures in 496 straight games, the longest active streak in the NBA, including 218 as a member of the Heat.
  • Dwyane Wade will sit out against the Sixers, mostly for precautionary reasons. Since it’s the second leg of a back-to-back to open the season, coach Erik Spoelstra decided to rest Wade. “Just being smart,” said Wade, who had ice packs taped to both knees.
  • Miami’s probable starters — Mario Chalmers and Roger Mason Jr. at guard, James and Udonis Haslem at forward and Chris Bosh at center.
  • The young Sixers struggled in the preseason, going 2-5 and allowing 108.3 points per game.
  • Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams, the 11th overall pick in the NBA Draft from Syracuse, is scheduled to make his debut.
  • It’s also the head coaching debut for Brett Brown, who came to Philadelphia after spending the past seven seasons as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs.
  • Other Sixers projected starters — guard James Anderson, forwards Thaddeus Young and Evan Turner and center Spencer Hawes.
  • Earlier in the day, Allen Iverson announced his retirement. The diminutive guard led the Sixers to the Finals in 2001 before falling to the Lakers in five hard-fought games. Iverson was named to 11 All-Star teams, won four scoring titles and was named All-NBA First Team three times. “I promise you, it is a happy day for me,” Iverson said. “I really thought this day would be a tough day for me, but it’s a happy day.”

[h=2]BUCKS AT KNICKS, 7:30 P.M. ET[/h] October 30, 2013 · 6:02PM
TV: League Pass

  • The Knicks will start Raymond Felton, Pablo Prigioni, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler. Knicks coach Mike Woodson said he would’ve started Andrea Bargnani at the 4 if the Bucks went with a bigger lineup. “When we play big teams I’ll play a big lineup,” he said. The Knicks went 16-2 down the stretch of last season with Prigioni in the starting lineup. Woodson had previously indicated that Shumpert would start at the 2 and that Metta World Peace could start at the 3.
  • The Knicks will bring Kenyon Martin off the bench tonight and will hold Amar’e Stoudemire until Thursday’s game at Chicago. Woodson plans to alternate the two hobbled bigs in back-to-backs. “If we had a couple days off, I could play them both tonight and max out minutes,” Woodson said. “We’ll see what happens.”
  • The Knicks are without J.R. Smith for the first five games of the season while he serves a drug suspension. He is eligible to return Game 6 vs. San Antonio on Nov. 10. “He’ll be home watching it on TV,” Woodson said of tonight.
  • World Peace makes his Knicks debut tonight after playing his college ball at St. John’s as Ron Artest. Woodson said World Peace would be fine coming off the bench. “If Metta’s about winning it shouldn’t really matter and I don’t think it does to him,” Woodson said. “Tonight he’s coming off the bench. I hope he gives us some positive minutes and that’s what I’m worried about.”
  • The Bucks will start Brandon Knight, O.J. Mayo, Caron Butler, Khris Middleton and Larry Sanders. Ersan Ilyasova (sprained right ankle) is probable. Carlos Delfino (right foot surgery) and Ekpe Udoh (right knee surgery) are out. The Bucks will have five new Opening Night starters compared to previous year’s opening night lineup for the first time in over 25 years.
  • The inactives for the Knicks are Toure’ Murry and Chris Smith.

[h=2]NETS AT CAVALIERS, 7 P.M. ET[/h] October 30, 2013 · 5:41PM
TV: NBA TV

  • Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum (left and right knee surgery) is active and expected to play in his first NBA game since May 21, 2012. “We feel like there is an opportunity for him to play, but if he does, it will be limited,” coach Mike Brown said. “He wants to play. He’s anxious.” The 7-footer sat out the entire preseason after signing with Cleveland on July 19. Bynum underwent bilateral arthroscopic surgery on both knees in March and resumed limited basketball activities in mid-September.
  • The Cavaliers’ starters are All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, shooting guard Dion Waiters, small forward Earl Clark, power forward Tristan Thompson, and center Anderson Varejao. Clark won the job in a three-man competition with Alonzo Gee and C.J. Miles. “This doesn’t mean Earl will be out there all season, but he’ll be out there tonight,” Brown said. “No one separated themselves from the group.”
  • Power forward Kevin Garnett and small forward Paul Pierce are will start in their Nets debut. Joining the longtime Celtics in the lineup are point guard Deron Williams, shooting guard Joe Johnson, and center Brook Lopez. Those five players have combined for 35 career NBA All-Star Game appearances.
  • Brooklyn coach Jason Kidd is serving the first half of his two-game NBA suspension. Assistant coach Joe Prunty will pilot the team on an interim basis with Lawrence Frank and John Welch serving as his lead assistants. “We have our roles,” Prunty said. “We felt this was the best way to approach it.”
  • Cleveland’s inactives are rookie shooting guard Carrick Felix (sports hernia) and rookie small forward Sergey Karasev (left ankle sprain). Not in uniform for Brooklyn are small forward Andrei Kirilenko (back soreness) and power forward Tornike Shengelia.

Going to start my play on injuries early... going Detroit baby! Gortat is a nice addition but no way he's gelling with the shoot first guards on that team yet.

In particular I just always remember watching Pierce/KG get worn down late @ Cleveland off top of head.

I lean Nets though

17-0 Sixers, rolf Heat.

That is why you don't bet a line move like that with everyone and their mom on the Heat. Guessing real %'s were something like 99-1

Yeah, but you know as well as I do that this is the type of game where everyone flips out in the 1Q, and then the favourite rolls by 20 by the end of the night. Well, maybe not tonight, but you know what I mean...
