I'm not sure how to take the draymond absence. It's for a set amount of time so I don't really think the "star player out" angle works. Denver gives their best effort against top caliber teams. Tough stretch of games for the Warriors so not sure how much of an effort they will be giving in Denver. They have a difficult time holding big leads with the bench as it is.

[h=1]For Some Atlanta Hawks, a Revved-Up Game of Uno Is Diversion No. 1[/h]

PHILADELPHIA — Lamar Patterson was new to the Atlanta Hawks when he discovered several teammates playing a popular card game at training camp. Patterson asked if he could join them. He thought he knew the rules.
“I’m sitting down with these guys for the first time, and I play all the time, you know what I’m saying?” Patterson, a reserve shooting guard, said before a recent game here. “But they were all like, ‘No, see, we play this way, with the Draw 2s and the Draw 4s from the extra decks. We lay the heat.’ And I was like, ‘Wow.’ ”
The Hawks were laying the heat — playing Uno, the colorful card game favored by countless schoolchildren and, yes, by a group of millionaires aboard the Hawks’ private plane.
“Uno,” forward Kent Bazemore said, “is always a thrill.”

The Hawks, like many professional sports teams, have a lot of free time to kill, much of it spent on airplanes. Some of the players keep busy by watching movies. Many sleep. Others play cards, a popular pastime for athletes who are competitive by nature.
Yet the Hawks’ card game of choice might come as a surprise. Teammates who have resisted the urge to wade into the Uno fray know enough to keep a safe distance.
“They get serious,” guard Justin Holiday said. “Real serious.”
It all started innocently enough when Jeff Teague, the starting point guard, brought a deck of Uno cards on a trip last season. He gradually recruited several teammates — Bazemore, center Al Horford and guards Kyle Korver and Dennis Schroder — to start participating in a regular game.
The conventional objective — first player to get rid of all his cards wins — was enough to keep them interested, but they soon wanted to spice things up. So Bazemore and Schroder hatched the idea of adding some of the more notorious cards from at least two other decks — all the Draw 2s, Wild Draw 4s, Reverses and Skips. The players referred to the extra cards as “heat.” The game was born anew.
“I think everyone should play it that way, because it’s no-holds-barred,” Bazemore said. “It’s the W.W.E. of Uno, man. It’s crazy.”
The games almost always continue from takeoff to landing, and each player is expected to be a full participant, with no excused absences. Guard Tim Hardaway Jr., who was a part of the group earlier this season, learned that lesson. After a couple of weeks spent honing his Uno expertise, teammates said, he wanted to take a break, if only for one flight.
“He said he was tired and wanted to rest,” Schroder said. “So we had to kick him out.”
Hardaway has not been invited back. Those who have stuck with the game cite the value of chemistry and camaraderie.
“You get all these long flights, and you can only watch so many movies,” Horford said. “So it’s a good way for us to interact as a group.”
Horford said they played purely for pride. There are clear rivalries.
“It’s usually Kent and Dennis who are mouthing off most of the time,” Horford said.
Mike Muscala, a reserve forward who sits near the Uno players, has grown accustomed to their histrionics. Muscala has no pressing desire to join the game, he said. He saw what happened to Hardaway, after all, and is aware of the group’s unusual demands — commitments Muscala does not want to make. He typically occupies himself on flights by sleeping, reading and eating. Mostly eating, he said.
“It’s a very tightknit group,” Muscala said. “Even if I wanted to play, they probably wouldn’t allow me. I’m sure there would be some sort of initiation.”
In a twist, four teammates — guard Shelvin Mack and forwards Paul Millsap, Thabo Sefolosha and Mike Scott — play a regular game of Spades on the Hawks’ flights. But it is a low-key affair. Compared with the Uno players, they sound as if they are at a yoga retreat.
“The Uno guys are screaming and cheering,” the assistant coach Darvin Ham said. “It’s every emotion possible.”
For the first 20 games this season, Schroder said, the Uno group had a prime location on the plane: a section in the middle with a large table. It was glorious, he said. He sounded almost wistful describing it.
“But then we started losing,” Schroder said, “and the coaches said we had to go.”
Banished to a spot toward the front of the plane and suddenly absent their table, the group had no choice but to improvise, draping a blanket over Schroder’s suitcase. It had the advantage of being large, with ample surface area.
“He can fit a lot of clothes in it,” Bazemore observed.
For the record, Ham said the Uno players were relocated because of safety issues — the plane’s crew needed a clear path through the aisle — and not because the team was struggling. But if the players were under the impression that it was a punitive measure, Ham did not seem to mind. Schroder acknowledged that he misses the Uno table.
“We have to take care of business,” Schroder said.
It has reached a point, Schroder said, that the team’s Uno aficionados actually look forward to packing their bags and boarding the plane for their next trip. Schroder is responsible for the cards, stashing them in his designer backpack.
“Dennis takes real good care of the deck,” Bazemore said.
Some of the group’s rules are more complicated than others. If a player is holding the same type of card that was just thrown by an opponent, he can play it out of turn. And depending on the circumstances, a player who throws a Draw 4 card can actually force an opponent to draw eight.
To explain other tweaks to the game might require a flowchart.
“It’s such a strategized game,” Bazemore said. “You can’t just go up there and play reckless.”
In any case, there is often a flurry of late-game action. Bazemore recently had to draw 50 cards after opponents conspired to hit him with a series of Draw 4s.
“That was pretty memorable,” Horford said, “just because we’d never seen that happen before.”
Horford was the group’s top player last season, he said, so dominant — and his victory total so unapproachable — that the players created a new system in which they compete to 10 wins. Once a champion is crowned, the players’ totals are reset for the next round.
Horford keeps track of the score on his mobile phone. He recites the totals after each game to avoid any appearance of impropriety.
“There’s been some controversy,” he said.
Patterson owns the current championship belt — a figurative one for now, although Bazemore has been tasked with ordering an actual belt online. It will be very glamorous, Bazemore said, befitting the high stakes of their game-away-from-the-game.
“I can’t wait,” Patterson said. “I’m going to be walking around with it everywhere I go.”

Many games tonight, but not too thrilled about the card again...

Two strong leans are Charlotte and Under in LA. Two other possible leans are Denver and Wolves.

Pacers fall under BC's angle - road dog in 2nd game after road trip, but something is wrong with the Celts right now...

They do but if I'm not mistaken the 2nd game back fade was not a particularly strong subset if on the road. And really, how can it be a team's 2nd game BACK if it's a road game?

In general it's a pretty poor spot. Every situation is different though. This particular situation isn't the best because it's only a 4 game road trip but when a team is coming back from a long RT and plays 1 home game (most ex players/analysts say it feels like another rd game) and then the team goes back on the road the next night.... It's a really bad spot. It makes a difference whether it's an EC team that went to the WC, how the road trip and the amount of days in between the last road game and the home game but in general the flat spot is the road game after.

Put yourself in the shoes of an athlete. They all say that every game is important and they are just focused on the next opponent. Blah blah blah. Playing the sport is their job. No way in hell athletes give the same effort every game.... Especially in the NBA where it's such a long & arduous season. Athletes are away from their wives, mistresses, and kids and are just happy to be back home. Going back on the road the next day is not ideal in any regard.

what about DAL getting DD points vs OKC? they only lost by 3 first meeting , are good in B2B 6-3SU whereas OKC is 2-4SU on B2B. only issue is DAL lost in OT vs CLE they may have a letdown

Thunder are 3-23 ATS this season when the opponent scores more than 94 points. Since last season they're 4-18 ATS (2-10 ATS home) when the opponent is playing on zero rest.

Durant missed that game...

Favorite plays right now are the Jazz and the bucks/wiz over

The Jazz have their defensive anchor back in Gobert. He has been back a couple games and his importance cannot be overstated. The jazz and the blazers are polar opposites on the defensive side of the ball and I think they are the more well rounded team in this matchup.

The bucks are playing the 2nd of the b2b... and the wiz simply SUCK defensely. Think we see a free flowing style. No Gortat should mean the wiz play Dudley more which is better for perimeter opportunities on offense and hurts the wiz on defense

I personally think the Mavs are a better team than the Thunder right now on the offensive side of the ball. I don't like the thunder's role players and the heavy percentage of the offense coming from just Westbrick and Durant. Always been this way I guess but seems like they've had more help in the past. Not sure if Carlisle will be resting anyone but the chance is definitely there.... 10 points is definitely not something I would lay. Much better options out there imo

Took Denver, Charlotte and Under in LA in the end. GSW about to enter their hardest stretch of the season in their schedule. The games against LA and Denver are games that they can easily focus on trying new things, giving players rest and so on... They should win, but Denver can give them hard time, especially since they are finally healthy.
Charlotte back after long trip, but finally everyone is healthy (minus Big Al and MKG) and after 7 straight losses, really need the win and they are a good team.
Under in LA - I don't think such bets need explanation even... so many things in favor of it...

The list goes on with OKC but the Mavs put their heart and soul into last night's effort vs the Cavs.

Line set high for a reason.

C's the 'psuedo-sharp' pick of the day, if you fancy yourself a 'line-reader' you're playing Boston.

'Blankets' agrees.

I like the Pacers here. I think Celtics are bad for a reason. The problem is that Pacers in bad spot schedule wise. That's why I decided to skip it...

Zaza Pachulia will be the only active Mavs starter Wednesday night against the Thunder. The Mavs are listing Dirk Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons, Wesley Matthews and Deron Williams as out due to rest a night after their overtime loss to the Cavaliers. The Mavs managed to win in New Orleans a week ago when all of the starters except for Parsons rested.

They are not bad. They just had a rough stretch without Bradley and getting him acclimated back into the lineup.

They played 4 solid defensive teams... does not mean they are bad. Their problem is they have a tough time closing out games because they really dont have a go to scorer.

If I play it, it'll be Celtics 1h

Deron & Dirk Out

I'll be on the mavs ml small

You guys in the NBA forum are a little too cryptic. And this is AFTER tuck left the thread, and that guy speaks in fucking tongues. No wonder five people even look in here. Why are you on the Mavs now that starters are out, off a BTB OT loss? One sentence for us Philistines.

To be fair, I never know what anyone's talking about in this forum when they post the schedules either, until the reader is graced with a play, so it's not just you.

To be fair, I never know what anyone's talking about in this forum when they post the schedules either, until the reader is graced with a play, so it's not just you.

Sorry for being cryptic. Nothing I ever say in here is ever going to make you or anyone else want to come into the NBA forum.

It's a discussion form. If you want to discuss, you come in... if not stay out. The reasoning why people don't like betting the NBA is a whole another topic.

The reason I will look to take Dallas is because the players that actually play for the team are capable (and rested) of beating an okc team that will most likely take them for granted. The ML is +900 and will probably go higher.

Good find, by the way, em. I thought about it and played it at 11. Gracias.

Thanks, and sorry. You bore the brunt of a pet peeve. I'm not much of a discusser, especially in the NBA, so no legs to stand on. But I hate it when someone says, "only playing the Nuggets, for obvious reasons" ... and just leaves that hanging out there. Or the posting of a team's upcoming schedule, saying, "this looks juicy" ... Nothing else. What am I, a mind reader?

I do it sometimes, but usually it's for lack of time and usually... when I say obvious reasons, they are... very obvious...

better than just posting a list of plays for everyone to blindly follow, like most do.

frankly, if you don't put the time in to research schedule/situational spots... you shouldn't be betting the NBA

Appreciate it, divol, and others. It's just not that obvious, lol. Thanks to the handful that keep the daily thread going, I'll have to learn to decode.

Depends. In a poster's own pick thread, it's up to the guy. In the discussion thread, a little reasoning or say, discussion, should prevail. I'm a total parasite though. I'll contribute to the NBA discussion thread 1-2 times a year. And this counts.

Ive been looking at this card off and on for the past 5 hours. My thoughts and leans have changed many times lol... I can't give my reasoning for every play I make because my plays change so much. It's pretty obvious why anyone would play the mavs tonight and its the same reason why people played them last week vs the pels.

I used to post plays daily w/ updated records but I really think that is pointless. Discussion is much more important

Wiz 5-0 to the over when Gortat is out.

Bucks 10-1 SU and 9-2 ATS home after playing the previous game away.

[h=1]Practice Notes: ‘It Starts Now’[/h] A strong start to 2016 has the team feeling confident, but some of their most important tests come this week.

A three-game week with games against the New Orleans Pelicans, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers is expected to be the biggest to date, according to the squad. Although Sacramento holds just a 3-2 record in the new year, they’ve impressed even in losses – falling in the last seconds against Dallas and climbing back versus a 35-2 Golden State team in the game’s final minutes. That’s all for naught if the team isn’t able to capitalize on the road ahead though, says Omri Casspi.
“It starts now, it starts Wednesday…we have to get this one. We’ve got a long way to go, but we have the tools and everybody that we need to take a step forward,” said No. 18 following practice on Monday.
That much is clear from the Kings first five games of 2016 – they’ve stayed tough with each team regardless of their opposition or their own amount of rest. In Dallas, the team was on the end of a back-to-back, missing two starters, but battled the Mavericks to double overtime. Meanwhile, after falling behind by double-digits in the latter stages of Saturday’s game against Golden State, the purple and black went on an 11-0 run in one minute and 30 seconds of game time to close the gap to within five.
On several occasions, they’ve shown the ability to play with the best in the NBA, but have yet to do so on a consistent basis.
In the 2015-2016 campaign, Sactown is 3-15 in back-to-back situations, but a strong back-to-back set versus the Pelicans and Jazz is a necessity as the games will certainly impact the team in the Western Conference standings.
Utah sits just two games above Sacramento for the eighth and final playoff spot and, although there’s over half the season remaining, every game counts.
“I told the team today that every season comes down to a tiebreaker, every season comes down to a one game situation. We can put a foot forward in that situation if we take care of business starting Wednesday,” said head coach George Karl.
To date, the team has faced the sixth-toughest schedule in the entire League, but has managed to stay afloat in the Western Conference. Now, with a chance to capitalize off of their recent successes as the strength of schedule by opponent record eases up, players believe that the best lies ahead.
“We have a lot of room to grow. I think we’ve played well, but not where we can be,” concluded Rudy Yag.

Under in LA - I don't think such bets need explanation even... so many things in favor of it...

streak<=-4 and p:A and pp:A and ppp:A and pppp:A and ppppp:H and H and 2007<=season

just for you to know that CHarlotte might not be in a very good spot despite the face they have double revenge vs divisional opp with two close losses

If you like the Warriors against the Nuggets tonight, probably best to take them 1H:

Nov 6: 74-44 1H / 45-60 2H
Nov 22: 64-58 1H / 54-47 2H
Jan 2: 63-47 1H / 48-61 2H

That or the over, although it might be a tougher sell without Draymond Green in the lineup.

tough taking the c's these days....haven't bet them in a while as they look off....good point above about playing good defensive teams but they have lost some of their fight lately and without fight they suck....just not enough talent...i want to play the c's because i think they have lost 5/6 and indy in tough spot but not sure i dare laying 3.5....probable pass

Timberwolves worth a look tonight.... Houston playing their fourth game in 7 days, and third game in the last four days. Plus, they have Cleveland on deck.
