lot of rooks to sign yet....not sure what the rest of the RB's are waiting for, RUN DMC is signed

league has to do something with these absurd rookie contracts, period

The rookies salary are out of hand i agree, but when the NFLPA redid their contracts the rookies are now receiving the lowest profit sharing percentage in the history of the league, Upshaw said recently "if the owners want us to redo the contract portion of the agreement then we will redo the whole thing not just the salary aspects." Meaning that the 6% there receiving now (I think it's actually 5.75% i just rounded up) would disappear and more than likely it would be much closer to 10%, which would be phenominal more all rookies and now the top 5. The NFL owners would never agree to it, but i think the redistribution of the money more equally would be much better, than the front loaded salary contracts of the top 5 players.

Why do you think that, there has been no indication that he's been close to signing. But I'm always in for a little input as i do not follow the cowboys that closely.

Cowboys sign first-round picks Jones, Jenkins

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — First-round draft picks Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins signed deals late Friday night, putting all of the Dallas Cowboys' selections under contract.
Jones, a running back from Arkansas, and Jenkins, a cornerback from South Florida, have the same agent and each missed the first day of practice. Terms of their deals were not released.
The Cowboys selected Jones with the 22nd overall pick, impressed by his 1,162 yards and 11 touchdowns backing up Darren McFadden last season for the Razorbacks. The last time the team used a first-round pick on a running back was for Emmitt Smith in 1990.
Jenkins, the 25th overall pick, intercepted three passes last season for South Florida and returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown against Cincinnati.

good call, it is going to be key going forward that they will have two large contributors of this years draft class in on time.

Saints signed Sedrick Ellis for five years. I cannot find a monetary figure though. He will report to camp this afternoon.

Pretty sure it will be as little as 32.5 or 33 and can go as high as 49..

Hopefully this helps Harvey sign which will help get Rivers in camp.

This waiting game that agents play is ridiculous. They want to see what the player before them got so they can adjust accordingly.

I'm sure the agent doesn't care about the players maturation process all that matters to him is the 10% or whatever they get.

RIVERS, BENGALS CLOSE TO A DEAL
Posted by Mike Florio on August 4, 2008, 8:35 p.m.
After a somewhat protracted holdout created by some outlandish deals done at the No. 6 and No. 7 spots in round one, a league source tells us that the Bengals are close to a contract with linebacker Keith Rivers, the No. 9 overall pick in the draft.

Rivers could be at practice as soon as Tuesday morning.

We’re told that the two sides have come up with a creative way to bridge the gap between the floor for the contract, the deal between the Pats and linebacker Jerrod Mayo at No. 10, and the unknown ceiling that would have been provided by a deal between the Jaguars and defensive end Derrick Harvey, the No. 8 pick in the draft.

Yeah..no doubt...check out this from a few days ago:

Multiple league sources believe that agent David Dunn is deliberately dragging his feet regarding negotiations with the Bengals for linebacker Keith Rivers, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2008 draft, until the Jaguars sign defensive end Derrick Harvey, the No. 8 overall pick.

Opined one source, "They are worrying about what [Tom] Condon is doing one slot ahead of them — they are worried about next year's recruiting, not the best interests of the kid."

Harvey is represented by CAA, which consists of agents Tom Condon, Ben Dogra, and Ken Kremer.

The floor for Rivers has been set, given the the Pats signed linebacker Jerrod Mayo, the No. 10 overall pick, more than a week ago. The fact that both Rivers and Mayo are linebackers makes the Mayo deal even more comparable.

The fear apparently is that, if Condon does a deal that represents a moderate upgrade over Mayo, Harvey's deal eventually will come in at a much higher value, giving Condon, Dogra, and Kremer a valuable tool for luring college players who might be leaning toward Dunn in the looming rush for next year's draft picks.

The only problem? It's potentially hurting Rivers. "The kid is missing valuable time to serve their own best and selfish interests," the source said.

Though Condon is the good guy in this story, his protracted holdout in 2007 of Browns quarterback Brady Quinn resulted in Quinn losing a shot at replacing Charlie Frye early in Quinn's rookie season, allowing Derek Anderson to establish a stranglehold on the job and making it much harder for Quinn to ever earn incentives based on his status as the starter.
