NBA Best Bets for March 27: Here's Your Late-Night Parlay Punch

Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat
Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Kaseya Center

Series History

Miami has lost two out of its three games so far to Atlanta.

In Miami's first loss to Atlanta, the Hawks were able to count on 28 points from Jalen Johnson, 26 points from De'Andre Hunter, and 18 points from Garrison Mathews.

They won't be able to count on these players tonight, because Johnson is out for the season, Hunter now plays for Cleveland, and Mathews typically scores between zero and seven points per game.

Indeed, Atlanta failed to reach 100 points in the first rematch. But the Hawks still won that game because Miami shot an absurd 7-for-40 from behind the arc despite the fact that Atlanta objectively has one of the NBA's worst perimeter defenses.

In the last meeting between these teams, Miami won 131-109.

Form and Matchup

I expect tonight's game between these teams to resemble their last meeting.

Miami finally snapped its losing streak and has now developed good form, beating Charlotte and Golden State in its last two games, respectively.

The Heat beat the Hornets by 17 and the Warriors by 26.

They are shooting the ball well and playing great defense.

Most decisively, the matchup is just right for the Heat.

On defense, they prioritize protecting the basket, as evident in the low number of field goal attempts that they allow within five feet of the basket.

This priority positions them positively against an Atlanta offense that attempts field goals within five feet of the basket at one of the highest rates.

Moreover, the Hawks on offense rely heavily on scoring in transition. They match up poorly against a Heat defense that allows the third-fewest points in transition per game.

On defense, the Hawks are regularly allowing around 120 points per game. Miami has allowed such a high point total once in its last 14 games.

With its offense playing this well and with its matchup advantages on defense, it will easily score enough points to win.

Parlay Bonus

Since Kyrie Irving's absence, Dallas has the third-worst defense. Its effort is deficient without its star players.

One of those stars, Anthony Davis, might play. He would inject much needed scoring and interior defense into Dallas' competitive endeavor tonight.

If Davis does not play, then Dallas is just the sort of team that Orlando beats. Like the Hornets and Pelicans, the Magic regularly beat teams that don't threaten them with their high-ranked defense offensively and that have such a bad defense that their offense doesn't need to worry about scoring.

So, if Davis does not play, you should parlay the Magic ML with the Heat ML to add profit.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Life Without Ja

Memphis is struggling without its star point guard, who has been ruled 'out' for tonight's game.

Ja Morant, known for his speediness, is the centerpiece of Memphis' transition-heavy offense that is rather inefficient in half-court play.

Without Morant, the Grizzlies have failed to stay within single digits of the Kings, Trail Blazers, and Clippers on their respective home courts.

They did just explode on offense against the Jazz, but Utah is one of the NBA's worst teams.

Without Ja, the Grizzlies cannot compete with the elite Thunder, who carry a seven-game win streak into tonight's game.

Frankly, the Grizzlies wouldn't have a chance even if Ja were playing, because the Thunder have the NBA's best transition defense, allowing the fewest points in transition per game.

Hence, the Thunder are 3-0 against Memphis so far, with all three of their wins coming by double-digits.

Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz
Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 9 p.m. ET at Delta Center

Revenge

Houston lost to Utah in their last meeting. This is a good thing because it makes it very easy for the Rockets' head coach to keep them extra focused tonight.

In that loss, Utah counted on 23 points from Lauri Markkanen and 30 points from Keyonte George.

Tonight, the Jazz will not be able to count on either player.

Markkanen has been ruled 'out' for tonight. George is ice-cold, having gone 2-for-15 from the floor in his past two games combined.

The Rockets will with their highly-ranked defense easily outscore a Jazz team that, in its last six games, has only exceeded 103 points against lowly Washington. The Jazz have allowed 120+ points in each of their last three games.

Parlay Leg 2: Rockets ML at -700 with BetOnline

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Sacramento Kings
Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 10 p.m. ET at Golden 1 Center

Matchup Advantage

The matchup decisively favors the Kings, who would rather allow three-point attempts as long as they can protect the rim.

They allow the second-fewest field goal attempts within five feet of the basket and match up well against a Portland offense that attempts one of the highest field goal rates within five feet of the basket and lacks the three-point shooting prowess to take advantage of Sacramento's perimeter defense.

On the other side, the Kings live in the mid-range. With the likes of mid-range maestro DeMar DeRozan, they'll thrive on offense against a Portland defense that is one of the worst at limiting field goals 10-19 feet away from the basket.

Best Bet: Parlay Thunder ML (-470), Rockets ML (-700), and Kings ML (-220) at +102 with BetOnline
