picked up a little more than 3 units last week.. 8-4 the last two weeks so starting to heat up again in the Sunday league.:smiley_acbe:

Broncos +3, +100; 4 units

Things are never as they appear in the NFL. Paid close attention to both these teams last week.. Who would have thought with 2 weeks to prepare, the Broncos would lay the egg they did lw? now with a short week how can they fair much better? BECAUSE, they are playing the Browns... and I think less prep will help them change the recent trend.

Going back 2 1/2 seasons (far as I went) NFL Qb's making their 1st start are 9-19 SU... That trend goes way back and has similar numbers..I'd like to fuck his sister, but am not a fan of Brady Quinn especially in a primetime game..

Would endorse the ML but thought the 3 points with no vig looked pretty good.

This Sundays card is one of my favorites in the last several weeks..Try to get that up soon..

Partners-- noticing some of the same "F5 delays" we experienced awhile back.. Also noticing guys with multiple posts exactly the same which tells me I am not the only one experiencing it.. Assume you are on it and hopefully it won't become an issue again..:shake:... You can delete this after you read it..

I love this play also, but the line is asking me...Can it really be this easy? The Browns suck and they are throwing in Quinn, IMO is a complete different QB from Anderson. Last week the Browns could have won the BALT game, the final score doesn't say it all. When they were tied up in the 4th, anderson threw a perfect bomb pass to edwards on 3rd down (which would of been a TD)...you guessed it, Edwards dropped the easy td pass. They deserved to lose as they blew a 14 point lead. I may think if anyplay tonight it should be the OVER and Broncos. best of luck tonight tee

his sister btw.... on second thought might have to have a couple gins first

anyone have any shots of her body? couldn't find any.

Not concerned about the loss of McCree at safety , Champ out at CB , DJ Williams at OLB(other OLB Boss Bailey already on IR) , starting RB looks to be Ryan Torrain playing his 1st game outside of the 3 carries last week(pittman and Hall on IR , Young G/T but limited ), Scheffler doubtful and limited at best .

I find it hard to believe a QB like Quinn is rattled at all since he he was groomed to be a PRO QB. Naturally could have some early jitters but think once they game starts moving along those disappear .

Denver just is down to no one on defense and the offense is far from healthy. Interested in what you see if you have a moment.:shake::cheers:

The NFL Network reports that Broncos WLB D.J. Williams will miss the next four weeks with his MCL injury.
It sounds like Williams tore his MCL. Rookie Wesley Woodyard (6'1/212), who some teams viewed as a safety prospect coming out in April, is highly unlikely to be as potent against the run as Williams (6'1/242). The Browns should be able to run off LT Joe Thomas' back all game Thursday night.

Selvin Young (groin) was limited in Wednesday's practice and is listed as questionable to play on Thursday night in Cleveland.
Owners can't bet on Young even despite the favorable matchup and his supposed carry-sharing role. Young isn't 100% and may only be available to play on passing downs. Look for Ryan Torain to lead the Broncos in carries. Young should still be owned in all leagues, but bench him Thursday night.

Tony Scheffler (groin, questionable) and Selvin Young (groin, questionable) both had limited participation in Wednesday's practice.
They'll be game-time decisions Thursday against Cleveland. Young may have the better chance of playing, but it appears that he won't be 100% even if he's active. He probably will not be relied on to carry a heavy load. Scheffler expressed doubt earlier in the week about his availability, which is a bad sign. We'll know their statuses at about 7:15ET Thursday night.

The Rocky Mountain News reports the Broncos "tried to get Selvin Young back into the mix in Tuesday's practice."
The other local papers provided no updates on Young's status in trying to return from his groin injury on a short week. Be sure to check back later for Wednesday's practice reports. If Young has trouble practicing, Ryan Torain could be in line for a full load of carries Thursday night.

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Broncos TE Tony Scheffler (groin) returned to practice Tuesday but has yet to fully test his injury with explosive cuts.
"I was helped by the bye week, but I've kind of been hurt by the short week," said Scheffler. "You lose three days, but I've got to find a way to get back out there." Scheffler will likely have to show improvement Wednesday to be active for Thursday's game.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan admitted it was possible that Ryan Torain could carry the ball 20 times against the Browns Thursday night.
Shanny said that Torain would have a "good chance" at 20 carries if he is the only guy out there, but he added that he's not eager to put Torain in that situation in his second career game. Fantasy leaguers should keep an eye on Selvin Young's status. If he struggles in practice Wednesday, Torain makes for an intriguing RB3/flex against the Browns.

The hits just keep coming for an already ineffective Broncos defense that is now completely ravaged by injuries. Brady Quinn couldn't ask for an easier debut assignment Thursday night.

Jeff Legwold of the Rocky Mountain News writes that defenses are able to get into the head of young QB Jay Cutler, forcing him into making bad plays.
Cutler has thrown eight interceptions in the Broncos' four losses and has, at times, appeared visibly frustrated on the field. The Dolphins were in his ear in Week 9 and you can bet the Browns will try the same next week.

Ryan Torain and Selvin Young will likely carry the Broncos' running back load for the remainder of the season with both Michael Pittman and Andre Hall going on injured reserve.
Both should be claimed in all leagues, but because Young still hasn't fully recovered from his groin injury, the table is set for Torain to start Thursday night at Cleveland. If he capitalizes, Torain could be the lead back in the final eight games. The carry split will be week to week in Denver as always, but both players have RB3/flex potential down the stretch.

Broncos placed RB Andre Hall (wrist, ankle) on injured reserve, ending his season.
P.J. Pope may now be activated from the practice squad to be third string behind Selvin Young and Ryan Torain. Hall has been a decent role player for Denver the past two seasons, but is replaceable and has proven somewhat injury prone. He's certainly not a lock to be on the team in 2009.

Broncos placed Michael Pittman (ribs, neck) and Andre Hall (hand) on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
We'll see plenty of Ryan Torain now. Pittman was a godsend for the Broncos, stabilizing a weak RB crew with tough running and versatile play. He finishes the year with 432 total yards and a 4.2 yards-per-carry average to go with four scores. Pittman's career is year-to-year, but the Broncos may invite him back to camp in 2009. Torain and Selvin Young are the last men standing; We'd pick up Torain first, but both are worth grabbing.

Broncos WLB D.J. Williams (MCL injury) will miss the next three weeks in a "best case scenario," according to the Denver Post.
Denver is now without both of its starting outside linebackers after Boss Bailey was placed on IR. Williams was tied for first in the league in tackles through eight games and his loss is massive. Jamal Lewis should have no trouble running against the Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

McCree said he got "cut-blocked" while trying to chase down Ronnie Brown and probably won't be ready for Thursday night's game in Cleveland. D.J. Williams was injured on the same play.

Broncos WLB D.J. Williams is not expected to play in Week 10 against the Browns due to an MCL injury.
He was on crutches after Sunday's loss. It's uncertain if Williams has a tear or a sprain, but he is one of only a few Broncos defenders that's played well this year. Undersized and undrafted rookie Wesley Woodyard is his backup.

I hate the browns but I think tonight they win. Somewhere in the 24-17 range. The best thing for quinn is that he is playing his first start at home and we should see a steady diet of jamal lewis early tonight. If lewis is able to run the ball this should open up the passing game for quinn.. With denvers injury problems, I see a lot of mismatches with edwards and winslow all night..I know braylon has had issues catching the ball but you have to think these guys come in excited and focused tonight with the new qb throwing them the ball. The browns needed a spark and they are getting it tonight with quinn..

Tee I read some good points about this game--- I remember last year when Denver went to Houston on a short week and Sage the RAGE Rosenfelds just ripped Denver apart. What I distinctly remember from that game is that Denver once they start to struggle they get worse and quit on the year pretty quick---

However this is no Sage the Rage, it is Brady Quinn and I do agree that fading a first year starter is a lot better than taking the first year guy, if he has no run game.

If DA was starting I like Cleveland to win this game, but now with QUINN and Jamal Lewis who IMO is old, I am starting to consider Denver as their bad D will get a break facing a rookie, it depends who we have in the game though on Defense--

The Denver O concerns me though, because it is struggling bigtime and I believe they have more guys out tonight--

ALso is there any trends on this short week that the games go way over or way under--

ANyway I see the logic getting +3 vs a rookie who IMO most teams passed on because he cant throw and was hyped becasue he played at Notre Dame. My only concern is the Denver D and the struggling O which is not scoring much any more on anyone-

Browns -3

I’ll be honest: I have no idea what the Browns are going to get out of Brady Quinn tonight nobody does. But this much I do know: You cannot back the Denver Broncos right now. They’ve lost three straight games and four of either last five, and their offense which lit up the scoreboard to the tune of 114 points in the first three weeks of the season has cooled considerably, producing a total of 76 points during their 1-4 slump, for an average of 15.2 points per game.

Here’s what else I know: Since crushing the Raiders and getting that gift win over the Chargers courtesy of Ed Hochuli, Denver has failed to cover a pointspread in six straight games. In fact, going back to 2006, the Broncos are 8-24 against the number, including 1-8 ATS in their last nine on the road.

Speaking of the road, this marks just the third trip of the season for Denver. How did the first two go? 33-19 loss at god-awful Kansas City as a 9½-point favorite and 41-7 loss at New England as a three-point underdog. You know what’s most telling about those two particular games? The opposing quarterbacks the Broncos faced were named Damon Huard and Matt Cassel. Yep, Huard and Cassel led victories over Denver by the combined score of 74-26. So why worry about Quinn? I mean, it’s not like the Browns are going to ask Quinn to throw the ball 50 times, not when they’re facing a Denver defense that’s giving up 144.6 rushing yards per game overall and a whopping 206.7 rushing ypg on the road (6.1 per carry).

Yes, I know Cleveland’s defense has its own issues against the run, but Denver can’t exploit that it doesn’t have a healthy running back (hence the reason the Broncos had just 14 rushing yards in Sunday’s 26-17 home loss to the Dolphins). Also, as inconsistent as the Browns have been this year, this much is true: They’ve cashed in both of their prime-time home games this year, including a 35-14 Monday Night Football rout of the defending Super Bowl champion Giants as a nine-point underdog. Additionally, while the Broncos have been burning money, Cleveland is 17-6 ATS in its last 23 games, including 9-2 ATS at home and 8-2 ATS as a favorite.

Tdub - is that pic of Brady Quinn all dressed up on Halloween? Yikes....make those drinks doubles

Jamal Lewis might be old but the guy is still 14th in the league in rushing and thats with being banged up earlier in the season and two games were against the ravens and one against pitt.. So he's still got something left in that tank...

Exactly. Denver just has tooooooo many question marks for me to even consider backing off Browns -3.

And you can look back at QB's making their first start being 9-19, but throw that trend out the window when talking about Brady Quinn...like SN said, this has been his destiny since Junior/Senior year of high school.

Quinn at this point is a better QB than Derek Anderson, that is NO question...and there is nobody here that can dispute that

Sammy...very shocked that you're not all over the Browns...we were both on them last time against the Giants, and this one looks even better. The players are re-energized, this is a new season...8 games to get into the playoffs....the Chosen one can take them 6-2...7-1...

Jamal is only 29, which is crazy to think about...he seems like a 40 year old back out there :36_11_6: I'm right there with ya

not busting balls bro but did you happen to watch him at all in college? JUST ABOUT EVERY BIG GAME that ND played in while he was QB did not fare to well for him and them. IMO, to this point, in big games he's a choke artist.

agree with u mags in every big game he didn't show up. i don't understand how someone could be giving him so much love when nobody has seen him play in 2 years. primetime game in his first night ever seeing the field. maybe a little too much to ask?? I think it's denver or pass as far as a side is concerned.

Here's a quick over view of HIS SR YEAR AGAINST THE 3 RANKED OPPONENTS THAT THEY PLAYED:

Michigan 3TD 3INT 24 of 48 and lost 47-21
USC 3TD 2INT 22 of 45 and lost 44-24
LSU(bowl) 2TD 2INT 15 of 35 and lost 41-14

UH? This is the chosen one? :36_11_6:

Why is this the only thing people say negatively against Brady Quinn?

Notre Dame didn't have great teams when he was there, that was exposed whenever they went up against a superior team, like an SEC one. Pull up 5 games in which Quinn faced "tough" defenses, and did not show up. I just don't think it can be done....

EDIT - Ok, you did that in the post above...point taken, post those Junior ones though too

Everyone criticized him and labeled him a "non-big-game-qb" because of his final game in a Irish uniform against LSU. They needed something negative against the guy, and that stuck.

For what its worth, all Cleveland personnel said last year that Quinn had looked better than DA in practice, from Week 8 and on...it's just that DA was playing so well that there was no choice but to keep him in...

Why they re-signed him I'll never know...well, I do know, they had a core of a team built there and if Quinn IS/WAS a bust, and they didn't have DA they'd go back to the laughing stock of the NFL...however..

JR YR, they played 5 ranked teams...these were the 3 WITH A TOUGH DEFENSE:

Michigan 2TD 0INT 19 of 30 and won 17-10
USC 1TD 1INT 19 of 35 and lost 34-31
Ohio State (bowl) 29 of 45 0TD 0INT and lost 34-20

Could you post all of Quinns games from Junior and Senior year, to compare to the 3 from both years you pulled up?

Not that it matters, that was 3 years ago...but it's tough to go off stats alone...there are just too many factors when judging a QB

I truly believe he will be great, hell, Kurt Warner is the most accurate passer of all time, but most of you wouldn't pick him to take today in a intramural football game...

Mags - Care to make a Sig/Avy bet?

If Quinn leads the Browns to victory tonight, you have to rock a Brady Quinn avatar until the end of the NFL season...

If Quinn sucks, like you think he will, and plays bad (even if they win) I'll gladly put an avy of your liking til the end of the NFL season

Sorry T, last one:

So here's what we know about "The Chosen One" in his 6 biggest cames of his career (note that he has never started a NFL game):

128 of 238 (53%)
11TD and 8INT
1W and 5L

not trying to be a dick, but you're either misinformed here, or this is just wishful thinking. 1.) cleveland personnel never said that 2.) DA wasn't playing that well after week 8 or 9 3.) i highly doubt he looked better in practice...because he definitely didn't in the open practices i went to in the beginning of the year

they re-signed DA because he had a pro-bowl year in his first year as a starter on a team that wasn't supposed to win close to 10 games

Tim Tebow? Hope you're not even thinking of comparing him to Quinn....

And if you are, that's one example out of thousands...

It just seems that the "He isn't a big game QB" hate is just hate, and nothing more. How many of the elite QB's in the NFL right now were heralded as "Big Game QB's" coming out of college? Not many...maybe Peyton, Brees (to a very slight extent), and Akili Smith were labeled this coming out...

Damn. Looks like I better cancel my bet.

Nah, think I may add to it.

Just landed in chitown. Going to have to give a brief iphone response.believe it or not, but denver actually will field a defense tonight and they will all be professional fb players. Someone remind me what quinns record is vs pro football defenses.

I am confident in this bet but am also merely living up to a promise I made to myself 3 years ago. I.E. Bet against Quinn in his first professional start. Promise kept. Handshake. See mags stats. I was on the other side of most of those too.. My biggest fear is he gets hurt early before he gives away a couple scores.

Not to be a dick, but what tools do you use when analyzing QB's at practice? How often do you watch them, are they your main focus, etc, etc.

My best friend and lifelong neighbor has worked his way up to scout level at only the age of 23, what many of us believe should be a factor in judging a player in college is half the time completely opposite of what they actually look for.

Quinn has the tools, that is for sure. And as far as your week 8 comment, from what I'd heard Quinn looked MUCH better there-after. This season I haven't followed it, so I don't know...but I still think it's the right move at the halfway point in this season...this team behind Quinn would be 4-4 at worst..

I want to know, other than you, who EVER labled Quinn this?

tonight we'll see why all the teams were passing him up in the 1st round, and he had to wait for hours to get drafted.

Everyone's opinion on Quinn is that he can't play against good teams. So what are you talking about? That would equate to not being a big-game QB...thus the label "not a big game QB"

Who knows how the game will play out, that's the beauty of it, and we'll know a few hours from now...

Why don't you just take my avy bet then Mags?

not busting balls bro but did you happen to watch him at all in college? JUST ABOUT EVERY BIG GAME that ND played in while he was QB did not fare to well for him and them. IMO, to this point, in big games he's a choke artist.

From my standpoint I only meant he wouldnt be nervous . As far as college goes I would have to in some ways agree with Capt that ND was always overrated . The Sugar Bowl is not something I would weigh him on. LSU defense is probably better then what Denver has today. Anyway he was sacked 31 or so times as a senior and while he didnt play in well the 3 losses the opponent also scored at least 40 everytime . Which again makes it easier to defend the ND offense along with the fact Darius Walker wasnt even a great college back . Always seemed the losses were to teams with better talent .

Michigan had Manningham , Hart and Breaston
Ohio State had A. Pittman , Ginn , Holmes , A.Gonzalez
LSu 2nd and 3rd WR were Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis
USC had Jarrett and S>Smith(Jr year Leinart , Bush , White , Byrd , plus the WRs)

He had Stovall and Fasano as a JR but not as a SR......

My opinion is DA is not the problem and this is just a mine as well do it now move . It was going to happen eventually so why not now. DA makes some good throws and they get dropped and then when they need him to make plays he doesnt ....I am not a supporter of the decision but feels very much like the Houston QB situation where the level of play is going to be about the same regardless of who starts the starter or the backup....:shake:

My fault, I thought that you were saying Quinn was labeled the next big thing out of college. I apologize as I mis-understood you.

It's all good

Just take the avy bet, I'll have my Quinn picture from tonights game ready (gonna look for one when he's holding up his index finger exlaiming "We're number 1!")

I personally thought that black QB's could not be starting qb's and should be backup qb's---
In reality the reason is that they are not drop back passers by design and get away in college due to their athletecism.
Even Mike Vick and Vince Young's athleticism is negated by the speed of a NFL defense-
There is no real great black QB in the game- the majority of them are major busts-
Mike Vick
Vince Young(Jury still out but not looking good?
Troy Smith
Jamarcus Russel(He will be out of the leauge in 3 years
Dante Cullpepper--
jason Campbell- he is a major bust also- Release is too slow to play in NFL- watch giants and steelers games-
Quincy Carter-bust
Michael Bishop- bust

The best one Donovan Mcnabb I like and I think he can throw the ball, he has adjusted his game to the NFL way and never runs and throws every time. He has learned to play in the SUnday league-- However his problem is that in close games in pressure situations he folds and chokes-

Leftwich was the first black QB that was a pure drop back passer- He is too immobile though and cannot move in the pocket at all and has a long slingshot release-
He can throw the ball though-

The reason there is no great black QB's and they are not succeeding is because in high school and before that they are not groomed to play in the NFL, they are great athletes who run option, and scramble a lot- they do not rely on making reads and sitting in the pocket like a Peyton Manning drop back type of passer-- This is the issue here-

If they are groomed into that, but the problem is when they go to a team in high school or college they are such good athletes and so fast that they always go back to to their instincts and run and scramble.

A QB by stature should not be a super fast guy, he should be a taller guy with a good arm and understanding of the game--

With that in mind this is why all the above QB's are busts because they have no understanding of the game

I am interested in Tee's take for sure . Denver will be fielding a defense but I cant call it an NFL defense or even one filled with NFL players (maybe half filled ). Champ went down and Randy Moss went off . Did anyone see Greg Camarillo's stats last week?? 11 R 111 yds.

If he is thinking DEN is unbettable at this point and everyone has given up on them . I dont agree with that . Nothing indicates any sort of lopsided action or perception but I do wonder how the move to Quinn is taken by bettors. ALso not worried much about 1st start or 1st game with alot of players today . It applies still but I dont think its the automatic it once was (depends on the program they come out of). The NFL assitants and HC going back to college really helps the progression IMO . Having Weis for 2 years was great preparation. Quinn fucked himself with the hold out and he had to play catch but he was also trying to show something while doing it. Not a good combination IMO.

Den I will say did play well against the Miami run game last week . I just think outside of the 4th Q vs Balt this Browns team played very good ball for the past month . They had one shit quarter and suddenly they arent good while DEN has managed to get worse each week and the bye did nothing . Cutler had 12 c to WR for 137 yds of his 24/46 307 yd day.

Quinn played fairly well in preseason . He faced the jets and was okay , played @ NYG and helped his team rally , he started vs DET and was medicore but also Lions defense was very good in preseason and CLE was minus Braylon and Lewis . The last game he started again vs the Bears 1st team defense and played well .
He didn't talk, and it remains unclear if Cleveland's injured starter will play in the season opener.

If he can't, Brady Quinn will have to handle the job. On Thursday night, he looked ready.
Quinn was sharp in leading the banged-up Browns on two early scoring drives as Cleveland concluded the exhibition season with a 16-10 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Quinn finished 7-of-9 for 65 yards in his two series. The second-year quarterback, who would win a popularity contest over Anderson by a landslide, completed mostly short passes and seemed to make all the right reads while leading the Browns (0-4) to a field goal and touchdown in the first quarter.
"I felt pretty good," Quinn said. "There are a few things I'd like to change. We got into a rhythm and I didn't want to come out of the game."

Smith is counting on his defense to make up for Chicago's offensive deficiencies, but Brian Urlacher and the first-team defense allowed Quinn and the Browns to move the ball with ease.
"I'm disappointed," Smith said. "The plan was to get a couple of three-and-outs and then take the players out, but it didn't turn out that way. We didn't play well. Believe me, if we could put our finger on it we would have done something about it before now. We've got a little bit more time to get it right.
"We haven't played well. That is all you can say about it. We have not made all the effort we need to play well. All the things that go into playing well, we haven't done. Once we get all our guys going, I feel we will have a very strong defense."
Quinn was critical of his 14-of-24 performance in a loss at Detroit last week. But against Chicago's No. 1 defense he showed a nice touch on screens and underneath routes. He also rifled two slants to wide receiver Travis Wilson and lofted a 17-yarder over the middle to Steve Sanders for his longest completion.
The former Notre Dame star had one pass knocked down at the line, and his only major mistake was throwing behind a wide-open Kellen Winslow in the back of the end zone on Cleveland's first drive.
"We made some mistakes here and there," Quinn said. "We would have liked to have a touchdown on that first one, which was a little upsetting."

Just on the surface seems like a good matchup for a guy making his 1st start . Denver banged up on defense missing LBs and DBs and hasnt generated much of pass rush (considering the defenses he played in preseason this is a big step down IMO).
