The LOCK of All LOCKS for Week 8

Let Me Be Frank With You
We all know the word that is the Kiss of Death in sports gambling is LOCK so yes I’m using it for my beloved Rams.
We’d have to be living under a rock and maybe Las Vegas is with the Vikings only -3. There is not a matchup on the field that favors the Rams. Even the Vikings HC with the offensive weapons he has vs what McVay is working with having 4 top offensive players out is favorable. Kupp possibly coming back isn’t enough. Look at his workouts and he looks 75%.
This young Rams defense is about as undisciplined as I’ve seen. They bite on every misdirection and overpursue on the edges.
Ladies and gentlemen, take your child’s piggy bank if you have to and lay the ,3 for this Thursday night. Vikings should win by 3 scores because who’s covering JJ?
Questions and comments are welcomed. GL!

Not the easiest game to get up for after a humbling Sunday at home. Yes, yesterday came down to the end but the Vikes were gifted 14 points or so.

They have to be feeling a bit down to be honest. Very good team, but in the back of their minds they know that they are not the best team in the division now.

Let's see how this translates. Huge respect for the Minnesota coaching staff. This is the type of week where good coaches make their money.

I think Aaron Jones, JJ and Darnold will have a field day. Rams secondary & oline have street guys out there. It would take the Vikings turning it over multiple times to not put a thumping on the Rams. Hope I’m wrong but don’t think so on this one.

I'd be curious to know your reasoning behind "gifted 14 points"

The fake punt early on.

That was a free 7 points.

Fumble return TD with 6 mins left.

That's 14 points.

Dumb coaching decision+ bad hands = 14 points.

Now, I wouldn't be shocked if Minnesota scored on their first drive. Early emotion.

I figured that's what you were referring to...there's nothing free or given in the NFL! Campbell makes questionable gambles all the time because he thinks he has an edge and he trusts his defense to bail him out more often than not. The Vikings sniffed that play out and stuffed it because of good coaching. The ensuing TD was a great cut to the outside by Jones and over pursuing by a rookie CB. Taking advantage of mismatches is what you do in the NFL. The fumble was not bad hands, that was a great defensive play to punch out the ball. Was Gilmore falling down a free TD for Detroit? Everything is earned in the NFL.

I understand the gambles. That's the stupidest one he's done, probably ever.

A crowd very energetic and a pumped up team as well. You simply need to survive that first quarter. I'll add, with the defensive MVP sidelined this is even more important.

Yes, great defensive play by Minnesota on that play. With that being said, I expect professional RBs to rarely fumble. That's all. Hence, bad hands. I guess I could have phrased that better.

Yes, everything is earned. That first TD though was served up pretty easily.

Botton line for myself -- this was a litmus game. I came out of the game feeling much better about Detroit's standing in the division. They went on a 28-7 run and looked the part. They have another vs GB in 12 days as well that will tell a story.

Minnesota is an excellent team with a really good staff. They are still #2 in my Norris rankings though.

I can accept MN being #2 for now. Hockenson would have made a difference compared to how pedestrian Mundt was and the Vikings were without LB Cashman too. Obviously Detroit was missing Hutchinson which is huge. Hopefully both teams will stay mostly healthy and it will be a great battle for the Norris!

Vikes 5-0 with Cashman green dot LB
0-1 without
"O'Connell stated Monday that he isn't sure if Cashman (toe) will be available Thursday against the Rams, but he is positive he should return no later than Week 9"

Rams offense struggled to score vs the Raiders. Offensive line has street guys starting. Kupp doesn’t look ready. Stafford keeps getting killed. Rams defense is undisciplined which is not a good thing vs the Vikings HC who is creative and has legit weapons. Rams won’t be clicking until Avila and J Jackson return to the oline and Puka comes back.
Can’t struggle to beat a terrible Raiders team and think they’ll turn it around in 4 days to beat one of the better teams in the NFL.

@wiseplayer my immediate thoughts on this game was Jefferson goes bananas.

@MNGophs you think Minny bounces back here? I just can't see them coming out flat
These guys in the NFL can put losses behind them quickly. Only time I’ve seen when they struggle to recover is after losing a Super Bowl. It’s rare for me to play the letdown idea in the NFL especially after a loss.
Rams don’t cover well so ot wouldn’t surprise me to see JJ get 2-3 TD’s and 150+ yards.

Rams haven't had to travel for multiple weeks. I think line is spot on for a 3 days rest when the dog sleeping in their own beds and haven't ridden on a plane since September

I actually hope you’re right being a Rams fan myself but I see 2 teams on different levels. Rams easily should have lost the Raiders game if it wasn’t for such poor play by Minshew. Rams really aren’t that good with the people they have on the field offensively. K Williams is the only legit weapon they have without Kupp & Puka. Kupp’s ankle injuries aren’t new. He’s become a non factor in this offense for 2 seasons while creeping into his 30’s. Rams defense gets pressure but is always overpursuing and always a step slow from getting a sack.
I don’t see how they stop Minnesota’s offense while putting up points vs a formidable defense. There’s nothing I see in this matchup that favors LA. Add to this, their shit kicking game that has now reared its ugly head. GL

Raiders defense is not that bad
Carolina ripped through the Raiders D with Dalton. Rams have been struggling to score in the red zone all season. This Vikings D will make this Rams 2nd and 3rd string oline look foolish.

Heard it somewhere, not sure where, but teams after playing Detroit are like 0-12 or something like that. Rams a good sneaky play

on the rams here. 1-5 ats vs 5-1 ats. trendline for minnesota should be showing regression after a strong start.

Not as good as they appear inside the numbers and rams defense is improving.
Rams were 1-4 before being handed a victory by the Raiders. I’m still trying to figure out what the Rams have done well. Kyren Williams has been their best player. Maybe Darnold shits the bed but with all the missing pieces on offense with an undisciplined defense, I just don’t see a Rams win.

I was just saying I dunno how I can’t bet minny? Feels really easy which scares the hell out of me but so did Denver last thu.

I think Rams get the W here. The routes that Detroit killed them on will be there today with Kupp. The confusing defensive scheme look is getting more and more tape out there… Vikings D has looked below average for a few weeks now.

That fair and Stafford prob better than most dealing w what Vikings show pre snap as he one the better pre snap qb’s imo. But I just don’t think rams d can stop Vikings. You trust Kupp to make it thru the entire game? Sad to say but I don’t. Not gonna lie tho, I feel like a total sucker for liking Vikings! lol.

Maybe I’ll look more at props. Def like Addison to go over his low number.

My biggest concern is the Detroit game was very physical and they are on a short week, traveling out west where they haven't won a night game since 1996! No play for me. I think losing the Detroit game should keep them focused and not take LAR lightly.
FWIW, I think Detroit struggles too vs. TEN

Puka is back

Vikings gonna put up 30+ easy. It’s a matter of whether the Rams oline can protect enough to give Stafford an opportunity to keep pace.
