Maybe Yag, but will be a terrible loss for CTG. Their posts were viewed and replied to the most. When they weren't being silly, they had great insight and records. I personally have been reading them for a long time now, and came over here from the other sight because they left.

It has nothing to do with how the mods are feeling respected or not... it's the bashing of individuals (some that post exclusively at covers) and the Nations stance to make fun of anyone who doesn't post a writeup in their threads. The disrespect for other members is where we drew the line. It started as a big joke, it was funny, and what the mods have tried to convey is this particular joke/whatever it is needs to stop.

I'm dealing with IP's and chasing Horas/SuperSave/Indifferent/Torrioas and his damn IP blocker -- those posts aren't acceptable either -- but they're stating the thing a lot of members have relayed to us.

I don't see any of those posts as bashing. This thread has alot to do with what has gone on lately with "the Nation" and how others feel about it, not just mods or partners.

Personally, I think "the Nation" is a joke which has run its' course and isn't funny. Hasn't been funny for awhile.

However, members of the Nation, and I will not use names, have then taken any editing, pms, input, or deletion from the mods and partners as "censorship". Please. We need to make this forum open and hospitable to all members. If the Nation gets out of hand, they'll get edited, deleted, warned, and possibly banned. So will others.

If members say "Fuck you, ban me, I'm doing what I want", they are not only shitting on the site and the mods/partners, but they are shitting on all members. They're saying "My own selfish self-interests are more important than all of you." And that isn't right.

My suggestion is that everyone cool it, chill out, and get back to capping WHILE respecting that not everyone will agree with you, not everyone thinks the way you do, and not everyone posts their plays the same way. If everyone did that, it'd make all of our lives alot easier.

We're not chasing people off. We're just asking everyone to follow our standards. Some of us did not feel that having a Stalin avatar was proper, Billivy is going off the handle because we changed the avatar. I can't control what he does or doesn't do. The other problem is that all Ivy's done has been silly lately.

Speaking for myself only, I could give a shit what anyone thinks of me, my capping ability, or anything else like that.

If I wasn't a mod on this site, I'd just participate, post my news and plays, review the threads of good cappers, and jump in only occasionally. I wouldn't waste my time with alot of bs.

The only reason why I do is because I'm a mod.
 
Ok. Fondy, RJ, BAR, whoever. A simple question.

Amaechi Nation consists of myself, JPicks, and xpression_systm (as well as quite a few supporters, you know who you are). These two guys are maybe the two best NBA cappers I know, and they both have GREAT senses of humor. Every night, the three of us chat on AIM about the following day's NBA card. It's quite productive. Would we be allowed to create an Amaechi Nation Discussion thread nightly, to share the main points of our chat? I think it would be a good asset to the forum and a lot of people would enjoy it. We go into every game in great detail. But it would not have a funeral mood, because that's not our personalities. And it would be titled "Amaechi Nation Discussion Thread for Monday." Then all of our innocent Amaechiness will be in the confines of that thread, with no bashing, offensive languages, or making fun of posters. Just good NBA talk from 3 dedicated Amaechimen.

Sooooooooo, the verdict?

I just came here recently at the beginning of the whole Amachi, Nation thing. I came here because a roomate of mine boasted about this site and how great it was. I had been over at covers for 3 years. It got to the point over there that I would only read GD. Hardly anybody over there has any insight just there GOY, GOW, Guarentee Lock, DONT SLEEP ON THIS PICK, CHECK OUT MY NEW SYSTEM ITS 10-5 in the last 3 days type of shit.

It seemed like over there everyone wanted to be the next BATOR, where everyone rides your jock and begs you for your plays.

I dont agree or disagree with what these guys are doing here. I for one am thick skinned and I find it funny that these guys are just screaming for attention. Its good to have humor, and everyone being able to have fun, because thats why we spend time here, because we find it fun. I just don't think one person should ever think there bigger and better than they actually are.

Great post and I agree totally. I commend the mods for keeping this site in the right direction. Not cool at all to go over to another site and act like a child.Just wish some people would act their age instead of their shoe size. With that said, I respect a good amount of cappers on this site, childish or not. What's done is done and we all need to fix what is wrong and move on.

Thanks for the input and welcome to the site.

The general organizational structure that the site has is picks and discussions in the forums (yes, a bit of humor too, but not to lose site of the capping) with jokes, heated discussions, and porn in general discussion. GD is where alot of this needs to go.
 
On a side note is there a rule that you can't have a link in your signature?

The issue has never been Amaechi Nation -- the issue is the disrespect to other posters. There's threads titled a hundred different things every day. Some funny, some standard, some with just the date... I personally don't give a damn what you call a thread. You know that there has been smart ass things the group from the nation has done to spite our efforts to clean things up. We just want a forum that is informative and respectful.

While Fondy and others consider this proposal, let me ask you this: Why not just keep the "Amaechiness" to AIM and private e-mails? Why does it need to be posted in the NBA forum at all?

While you or others may have legitimate reasons for doing so, it's also a tactic used by spammers that sign up at our site.
 
I havent followed this saga in tiny detail, but lets make one obvious thing clear.

Noone is against anyone having fun - engaging in posted banter - amidst the main purpose this site exists.

But when that banter oversteps the bounds (either for offensive content, or sheer mindless drivel content), then it has to be curbed. A decision was taken that this current theme of banter had to be stopped entirely.

Theres nothing in this decision that says they, or anyone else, can no longer engage in banter at all, that they are no longer allowed to have fun. Just realise that if you do, and it veers towards either being offensive, or mindless drivel, the same result as here is the likely outcome.
 
Let me also point out something to the Nation:

We do not experience anything close to the level of complaints or problems in any of the subforums that we do in the NBA forum. The amount of time we all spend in NBA has increased exponentially over the last week or two.

To follow up, use your judgment for what's acceptable. If it continues to take a life of it's own, causing the site trouble, we'll step and then no one can say we didn't give things a chance.

I'm over it and I think everybody else should be over it as well. I do appreciate an open thread to talk about it rather than some other ways this was handeled. I honestly hope this is the last thread about it as every thread started only brings more attention to it.

The nation certainly wasn't started to bash other posters and I'd be amazed if you could find one post where I bashed another poster for their play or styles. Yet I got another warning for posting Suns -10.5 and a GL. Certainly not the first time that I've posted a play without a writeup yet it's considered me mocking somebody. That's just plain stupid.

So let's just delete this thread and move forward.

And for the record if there are "nation" followers out there creating aliases and just being pain in the asses for the site I'd personally appreciate it if you guys would stop. It certainly doesn't make any of us that started the "nation" as a joke look any better.
