McCarron has a big enough body of work in big games for scouts to look at. Pointless for him to go to the sr bowl.

I think Carolina Guy makes a valid point. It's one thing to beat the teams you play over and over again in your own conference - and that's definitely tough to do - but it's another to beat an unfamiliar out-of-conference foe. Stoops is an outstanding coach no doubt, but I think the latter point is relevant to tonight's game.

Saban's biggest problem with the hurry up is that he and Kirby like to substitute personnel based on down and distance. The hurry-up doesn't allow him to do that, so what he needs to do instead of complaining about injuries is put players on the field that can defend the pass and run. Also, Kirby audibling 3 or 4 times every play causes some confusion among the younger players, and we certainly saw that last night.

As someone who had the second half under, I'd like to thank Nick Saban for burning clock when his team was down late in the 4th. Bama had no sense of urgency at all in the game. Saban also looked like he didn't give a shit about the game at all.

Not saying it's the same, but he looked and coached much like he did at the end of the 2007 season, when we lost to La Monroe. Almost like he's showing the younger players and incoming players that not doing what he says gets you embarrassed

It was weird, Saban had that look right from the start of the game. Definitely didn't seem to have the intensity that he normally brings. He wasn't yelling at anyone, and generally seemed disinterested.

Guys, OU took the fight to Ala last night. They flat out beat them. Has nothing to do with what was on the face of Saban.

True, but these are mostly kids and they will often feed off the coach. You could definitely see which coach was more into the game last night. Bottom line is one coach was able to prepare his kids, the other complained after the game that his kids have had so much success that they forgot what it takes to win. Part of that is on the coach IMO

I’m taking nothing away from what OU did last night, but I’m sorry – when you have 8 minutes left to play and you are down 14 points, and your offense is snapping the ball with less than 10 seconds left on the play clock, you aren’t doing much of a job of coaching. Also a coach who says his players have had too much success and forgot what it takes to win needs to look in the mirror instead of throwing kids under the bus. From what I saw last night the coach was as much to blame as the players.
