I don't know how many of you got to watch the Air Force/Tennessee game last week, however their was 2 major things that happened that changed the outcome of that game.
#1. With about 6 and 1/2 minutes to go in the game, Tennessee was up 31-17 and was driving the football down at the Air Force 24 yard line, when Eric Ainge threw a bad pass that was intercepted. Instead of the score being 38-17, Air Force now has the ball. Ainge at this point had thrown over 300+ yards and had 3 TD's. Tennessee has still not punted in this game, so Air Force had not been able to shut them down.
#2. Air Force drives the ball down and Inky Johnson hits the WR and he goes down and lays on the sideline motionless for about 20 minutes before being hauled out on a stretcher. This is a major blow, because Tennessee is now worried about their fallen comrade. Air Force goes on to score a TD and cut the lead to 31-24. Air Force now has to kick off with about 1:45 to go in the game. Air Force succeeds on an onside kick and they drive and scores another TD, cutting the lead to 31-30. Instead of kicking the XP, Air Force elects to go for the 2 pt conversion and that fails. Air Force then tries another onside kick and succeeds agains, however their is a penalty. Air Force tries one last attempt at a onside kick, TN recovers ball game over.
I really believe that if Ainge wouldn't have thrown that Int, and they would have scored at that time, this would have put a dagger in Air Forces hart, and maybe, just maybe, Johnson would not have been involved in that play. The last 3 minutes were very emotional on this team. The score does not reflect that.
Now to the Florida game, look at the stat's so far for the season for both teams. Pretty even:
