****Soccer is the Greatest Sport on Earth In-Game****

Not sure but it might be like a mediocre Triple-A team beating the Red Sox with Whitlock starting? Or the Minnesota Golden Gophers beating the Indianapolis Colts? @gunner4ever @KJ you know American sports, what comparison would you give?

I am not sure on comparison with US sports, but it's the biggest ever upset in FA cup 155 year history! At least in terms of league difference

Macclesfield are in the 6th division. Lower than when Wrexham started climbing the divisions ladder

They were +1100 to beat Palace and I'm surprised it wasn't more

BUT Palace

- have been shit lately

- had a B team

- won the FA cup last year and this season will likely prioritize the Euro conference cup

- have little quality depth beyond the starting guys

- not super motivated while Macclesfield guys were playing the game of their life

A few points to explain the upset, but still a fantastic win by Macclesfield!

FA cup draw tomorrow

Perhaps Macclesfield will hope to play away at a big PL team

In FA Cup the attendance money is split between the 2 teams

Yesterday Exeter played at Man City and it is estimated they will receive between 400k-550k $

Man Utd and Tottenham both with difficult draw but already out of FA cup

Man Utd only with the league to play for.
Spurs league and CL.

Both teams with big question marks moving forward

Who will Man Utd choose as the next coach?

Will Spurs keep Frank next season? Paratici will leave his role as co-sporting director

Barca Real 2-2 at HT in the supercopa final

Crazy half ending as 2 goals scored AFTER the 3 minutes added time expired. 1 by each team

Real Madrid with another big game loss

They will still beat most teams due to the talent they have but they have not really replaced Kroos and Modric in midfield

Tottenham interested in signing Conor Gallagher from Atletico

Aston Villa interested as well

Solid player. Knows the PL. Would be a good addition for both teams

I can’t imagine why he would come to spurs over villa

Ornstein says almost done deal to Spurs!

He is from near London, could be a factor

I have read a lot of Spurs fans saying he is the same profile of midfielder that you already have, but I think he is better than what you have so good buy in my opinion

Looks like it’s done

Early rumour is Florentino Perez would love to get Klopp

Maresca is liked too

I think they should try to get Zidane until end of season. But not sure he would agree, just waiting to get nominated France coach after the WC

PSG out of french cup! 0-1 loss

Beaten by Paris FC as +1000 odds

Kind of crazy that Paris FC had the same odds that Macclesfield had on Saturday !!!

No pay day for Macclesfield as they will host Brentford next FA cup round

They did earn a little more than 100k $ by advancing to the next round
Good for them; hopefully the winning players will see some of that cash:thumbs-up-animated-emoji:

I remember back in the 1980s in NCAA FB when a winless UTEP Miners team beat the 6th-ranked BYU Cougars quarterbacked by Robbie Boscoe
Then years later in 2007; the Michigan Wolverines coached by Lloyd Carr got beat by a lower division Appalachian State.

Again going back to the early 1980s, Chaminade (around 600 students total enrollment) beat the Virginia Cavaliers (ranked #1 in NCAA BB) who had Ralph Sampson playing for them.

All these upsets will hopefully come to mind when I next think about tipping some heavy chalk

Makes literally zero sense. I tend to think one upset was wayyyyyyy less likely to happen than the other.

I'm still not sure why Palace thought they were good enough to play so many guys out of their typical rotation though. Think I read 8 players? Would have to go back and look but that damn near sounds like they wanted their youth team to win an FA Cup match.

Apparently the 6th division where Macclesfield play is a semi-pro league and players can earn up to 500$ a week

All of them have day jobs so yes hopefully they will get a little bonus money!

They had Guehi and Wharton starting, the rest all usual subs I believe

Macclesfield fans a day before the game said they were super happy to host a PL team and no one talked about winning the game!!! Must have been a crazy party to celebrate the win!

Senegal to the AFcoN final

Morocco - Nigeria extra time starting now

0-0 but looks like home side Morocco dominating completely

Albacete fans are chanting: "Thank you for coming, we finally won a game, please come back next week!"

Albacete ranked 17th in 2nd division

Looks like Klopp not interested in the Real Madrid job after criticizing them for firing Alonso so quick

I'm curious who they will go for

Apparently Alonso said they don't need a coach but a nanny because they behave like toddlers and don't listen to tactics work

Morocco survive!

Strange decision from Nigeria coach to sub out Osimhen a few minutes before penalties. Even very tired you keep him to take one. They missed 2 pens

I have never heard of Albacete lol Who are they and how big of an upset was this

City south of Barcelona near Valencia

I would say upset ranking between Macclesfield and Paris FC, as they are a bad team in 2nd division

But all 3 huge upsets winning in 90min!

Yes same looks like Albacete have almost always been in 2nd division or below. Just a few years in LaLiga in early 2000s. And Iniesta saved them from bankruptcy 10-15 years ago maybe that's why I had heard about them

Happy for the fans of these small teams as they will have memories of this night forever

Exactly! 👍

(The following MATCH RECAP is drawn from Sofascore & TransferMarkt MATCH PAGES as well as TEAM PAGES and from some pre-game free prediction sites which feature write-ups)

A subset of the smaller outfits from subordinate leagues tend to overperform when facing bigger clubs; Sofascore's xG re-scoring showed Albacete's play at 0.82 xGoals as opposed to Real Madrid's 2.04 xGoals.

Looking toward's the left side of the screen at "Attack Momentum", it becomes obvious why Real Madrid was able to possess the ball for 78% of the match and had 700 passes against Albacete's 200 passes.

Albacete concedes a lot of goals in LaLiga2 (aka, La Liga Segunda Division) which has a decent-scoring team sitting JUST ONE POINT above the -4-team relegation zone so when one sees the DEFENS[IVE] figures their performance across that subset of stats in LaLiga2 it is amazing how they hung around with a chance to win the game in the final seconds before time expired against Real Madrid.

Go back to the match of December 17 and one sees that Albacete was able to "hang around" and was able to go to overtime penalty shots & defeat La Liga's Celta Vigo with the penalty phase shootout 3 to 0 in favor of Albacete.

No one wants to get knocked out of the Copa Del Rey but Celta Vigo had just moved up to 8th in the standings with a chance to get a place next year in Europe (Celta Vigo is now sitting at 7th place) so obviously Celta Vigo rotated...

.. but in that match the balance of LaLiga 2 and the other European leagues with similar & lower transfermarkt payrolls got a good look at the Albacete goaltender who did PRETTY GOOD against one of the better-scoring teams in Europe.

Gunner4ever spoke of Albacete escaping bankruptcy many years ago and though they are in a much better financial state now; they are still a little bit "in the red" moneywise' their goaltender's great performance against rotated Real Madrid players with still-huge e-market dollar value will be raising eyebrows, as it were.

This may mean he is one of the figurative "poker chips' TO BRING IN SOME MUCH-NEEDED CASH in the next one or two transfer portals... IF THE GOALTENDER HAS one or two high-quality defenders in his next stop and maybe a slight change in philosophy on the midfield attacking schema in favor of helping out the defense, one may see him being a backup goaltender in a different, slightly better team in a slightly better league

Midfielder Javi Villar also played exceptionally well in the defensive scheme employed

Left-Back Defender is youngster Daniel Bernabeu who performed well, is under contract till 2028 & hopefully will get some more minutes with the senior squad as the game rankings showed (and the entire left side played well according to the Sofascore game ratings)

49 minutes into the game and Barcelona gets its first through ball; Racing Santander is perhaps playing a compact defense efficiently.

I remember a few years ago when North Macedonia went against Italy by playing a risky tactic of overloading whatever side of Italy's final third was in; it leaves the other side almost completely empty so just one effective pass and one has a clear view of the goal.

It worked for North Macedonia who realistically didn't have another option and had to take a big chance

Barcelona scores at 66 minutes in.

Monaco losing at home 1-3 to Lorient means the sport is fun but hard to wager on at the moment unless you just want to blindly take dogs right now

The odds on some of those posted above suck too. Betting +1000 into a -7000 favorite will never make sense to me.

Swiss Lorient goalkeeper with a great game!

Futbol is by far my favorite sport and I bet almost nothing on it, just a few very small wagers here and there for fun, so I can enjoy watching with no stress as a fan

And yes difficult with these upsets lately that should be priced even higher

Looks like Guehi to Man City should get done in next few days

Liverpool had a free run at him last summer but chose not to buy was weird. They have Konate yet to renew and van Dijk not in his prime anymore

These last couple offsides were obvious and refs are just being dramatic. So stupid.

Entertaining 0-0 pre-sunrise half

Harry Maguire is such a fucking cunt

Soccered out. Fuck that second half and waking up for it.

Arsenal hosting a team from Kazakhstan on the 28th in CL with likely top 8 locked up is going to be hilarious. Probably the u21 squad -3.5 won't be enough.

Loss at Inter
Beat Almaty

And we have top 2 in CL locked up

Personally I would make as many changes as possible for the Inter Milan trip next week

More important game against Man Utd next weekend

West Ham coach was on the hot seat, now I wonder if Spurs can stick with Thomas much longer lots of Spurs fans online assumed he would be sacked in the unlikely event of a West Ham win

I hope @~Utah did not watch this one!!!
