I guess it's pretty safe to say there are a lot of winners. US and Mexico got lucky that their only European teams are pod 4 playoff teams, Swiss and Italy if they get through playoffs got lucky, Argentina and Brazil got lucky that their Euro draws are Austria and Scotland.

Several groups it would be very surprising if the top 2 aren't fairly obvious

I guess Dutch, Japan, potential Denmark in that group are interesting but Netherlands clearly are the best

Belgium and Germans should walk through their groups

And now with a 32 team knockout 2/3 of the #3 teams in groups will go through. Problem with all of that is expect to see even MORE parking the bus to protect against a goal than in years past.

Yeah this group stage will feel like a warm up for almost all the top teams

I believe 1st time ever a team will have to play 8 games to win the WC

40 more games in total than usual
 
The incentive for the 4 best ranked teams during the group phase will be to win the group, so they avoid each other until the semis

USA group could have been worse but I can see all 4 teams finishing between 3 and 6 pts

Australia never easy to play against
Paraguay much improved it seems
Good euro team in Turkey/Slovakia likely

The joke on french tv was that Italy has an easier group than France but Italy might not make the WC...! Italy actually has the 10th best odds to win the WC, I don't understand this one. They are not very good

A month ago, spurs were about 30 seconds from beating Man U and going 2nd in the league - 3 weeks later Frank is all but cooked.

Today crystal Palace moves into 4th- last week glasner was going to quit any day now

It’s all veyry reactionary.

Spurs aren’t great but they’ll be in the mix for 5th this season

Feels like all teams ranked 3rd to 12th can finish in top4/top5!

We also learn more about teams every week, like Chelsea I thought lock for top 3 but they are wildly inconsistent

And just looked at Spurs schedule, super difficult months of December/January, I do think you need to stay within a few points of top 5 at end of January or else it will be very very difficult

Man Utd not even playing great and scoring 4. Could have been 7 or 8 easy

11 pts is super low but I'm not sure where they get multiple wins. Maybe end of season when teams with nothing to play for don't really care anymore

I think I would pick you to finish 3rd and I love USA not to win group

Paraguay and possible Turkey both on the rise. Aussie not a lock for 3 pts

But home field could help big

Personally my worst swiss football memory is euro 2008 at home where we shit the bed crumbling under the pressure

Fortunate to have played Paraguay in November and Aussie in October, won both 2-1 so get some recency from those matches

Hell Puli has hardly played with the team but got some time in the last couple Int rounds...feel much more confident with this squad and Poch in charge since I've even paid attention to WC (1993)

And I've bet on Paraguay several times recently, Turks are the only one a little scary to me in the draw but not too much. 2nd place would be a disappointment. 3rd would be brutal but still probably get us through

I think on talent Paraguay/Turkiye > USA but home field could help you get 1st or 2nd place!

I'm excited to watch this group, a lot of others not so much. But Turkiye might not make it so let's wait a little. Slovakia solid too

Also France had big troubles beating Australia last 2 World Cups

But yes 3rd places with 3 pts and decent goal aggregate should be a ticket for qualification
 
Italy -200 to qualify for WC

At home against Northern Ireland, should win. But 4 years ago same game they lost at home to Macedonia

Then final is either in Wales or Bosnia, with Italy current level and pressure this won't be easy. I would likely pick them not to make it at these odds

But we haven't played them in a WC since 1954, would be fun to get them and make the group a little sexier

I don‘t follow them like I do the Jags or UVA but i‘ve been looking for a team to follow since forever and my friend put me on them

Interestingly, I hated them under Mourinho, I remember finding him to be a dick and hating certain players for what they did during matches. This was before I met my friend

There has to be some kind of consideration when someone is running at full speed and they step on you during that run. That is incredibly hard to do intentionally
 
Absolutely no calls go spurs way. Spurs lost a goal exactly this way earlier this year. Two hands on Romero’s back

I feel like the ref has completely fucked us today
 
At the 70 minute mark I don’t have any complaints about the performance today with one massive exception and that was Romero’s fuck up. Calls didn’t just go our way… maybe one day
