So yeah, we're going to have to discuss Bam Adebayo...

Okay,

I had no idea what was going on tonight. I was totally out of pocket except for local sports.

Holy smokes!

Is this the most improbable feat we've seen?

I'm just spit balling right now. I will watch this game in its entirety later this week. I'm so mystified!

The 43 attempted FTs is what gets me right now. Holy shlit!

How??

Yes, I understand they did "extend" the game a bit late to get him into the 80s.

The fact this was done with less than double digit three pointers made is wild.

The fact this guy averages 19 points a game is incredible!!

Bam is an all-star who most would describe as an all around player. He's not the guy you think about scoring 30 all that often.

Just wild.

I could imagine guys like Harden and Curry doing this in years past due to the 3 ball. Present day, a Luka or SGA I could see. Heck, Wemby definitely could do something like this.

But Bam?

Goodness...

Stunned too. I guess chalk it up to Washington being pathetic. 43 free throws. Never heard of such a thing. Wonder if AD was on Wiz bench going nuts.

The Wizards play a lot of games against a lot of players. Bam's performance is certainly stand-out.

Sorry to get a bit off topic here, as I thought this performance was improbable as well, but this reminded me of something I read which I thought was also otherworldly.
In 1986-1987, Michael Jordan AVERAGED 37.1 ppg. During that season he made 12 3pt fg's the entire year.
The next highest single season PPG was James Harden 2018-2019 season where he averaged 36.1 ppg. During that season Harden AVERAGED 13.2 3 point attempts per game.

(side note, both players came in 2nd in MVP voting those years, where Harden won the year before, and Jordan wins the year after)

How did players score inside the arc so well when, surely, the spacing didn’t exist then as it does today with all the three-point shooting (including from bigs)?

Bam went full Luka in the first half. Fourth quarter was just a force feeding to eclipse Kobe. 20-43 from the field shows how artificial it was. Dude went full-on chucker.

Disgusting that it happened on King of the Court night. Doncic was the heavy favorite and was an easy 2nd with his 31-11-11 line. Makes me wonder if DK didn't hand Bam and Spoelstra bags and tell them it's going to be a Bam night.

A guy I follow on twitter with over 250K followers tipped Bam as his play of the night and King of the court last night. They ate well. I don't have DK, nor follow basketball, wish I had though!

The 3 point FG didn't come into existence until 1979 I believe. Somewhere around there.

Teams didn't use it all that much in the 1980s. We started to see some specialists as the end of the decade neared.

Jordan, for his career, did most of his work on drives, post ups and the mid range game.

Harden was a three point chucker in the late 2010s and great at drawing fouls.
