So, what have we learned? - NFL Week 6

Joe Public

Gabibbo's Finest
My apologies, all, Joe's been sick all day and while I got to watch some football it was one of those things where you're sort of loopy and find yourself saying things like "Oooh, ahhhh, but I thought it was, shit, what channel am I on, oh right."

I'll be able to add some thoughts when I sort of sober up, but I've got to bail on the thread tonight.

Little help?

KC's defense is really really good, but I have a hard time seeing this team make a lot of noise come Jan with A. Smith as their quarterback.

I am leaning toward agreement here. This defense is legit. Getting frustrated with the inconsistency of Smith. They do some good things on offense but they go through too many long stretches of ineptitude to be able to win it all. If they ever get too far behind they will be in trouble.

Emkee's anus got jacked up worse than Ed Norton's did in 'American History X' today. Thanks Bengals and Saints.

How in the hell does Payton and the Saints allow Tom Brady not 1, not 2 but 3 chances to win the game in the closing minutes of the 4th quarter ? It's f#%king insane given Brady's history.

I mean they overcame the aforementioned 'officiating adversity' and were gashing a depleted Pats' defense up the guts, got Brady to turn it over on downs and then an interception, then inexplicably with the game on the line decided to run outside the tackles on every possession. Didn't figure Payton to be that stupid.

Maybe the script called for it, who knows.

Currently crouched in the shower as the crimson tinged water trickles down the drain.

Agree on the officiating.
All RGstick had to do was complain and got the flag. None of the hits on him , close to the sideline, warranted flags.
Holding in the NFL has become travelling in the NBA.

I only see limited games now with my schedule, but the amount of open receivers missed by the QB's was incredible.
Romo/Smith, I can see, but Drew Brees? I was shocked to see him miss the wide open back on the wheel route.

Here is what I learned. Karma does not exist.

Let me elaborate. I was 2-1 on my main plays, fine, ill take that. On Friday, when I heard the news about ADP's kid, I put a bet in on Carolina, and I texted my inner circle of friends who I give all my plays to and we discuss. A few of them, including husky who i often text with about plays and pussy, came at me hard telling me im an asshole and deserve bad karma. I won't lie, my logic was that ADP is a one man team, and there is no way he will be completely there physically after this tragedy. People made it seem like I was a terrible person for making that bet. I was going to the casino to play poker that night, so I took their advice and bought off the bet to fight off bad karma gods.

Well, I ran into AA with AK with a K on the board, did not get any of the first 6 flush draws I got, and when I got one finally, my K-8 of hearts lost to some other dudes A-3 of hearts, and finally, my top 2 pair got counterfitted in a 600 dollar pot because of runner-runner deuces.

Then carolina kicks the shit out of Minnesota. So yeah, Karma does not exist, and don't be afraid of it like I was. Use your logic, and as terrible as something may be, if you think it could help youre bet, fire away and dont feel bad about it.

or if Charles gets hurt...which is always a possibility.

You can't undo the bad karma just by buying off your own play. If one of your buddies bet Carolina based on your recommendation then you're stuck with bad karma by association for the night.

I learned that the Jets that we expected to see in September finally showed up in October. But before the Steeler faithful get too caught up in playoff talk based on their one win (oops too late) we should note that the Jets left a ton of points on the field yesterday:

- 1st quarter - Wilkerson has Roethlisberger dead to rights in the end zone for a safety, but #7 does a shoulder shimmy and squirms away to save the points and the free kick. Jets do get a field goal off the ensuing point, so only 2 points lost.

- 1st quarter - But on that field goal drive the Jets have 3rd and 1 at the Steeler 2, so they can get four more cracks at the end zone if they can convert. Powell gets stuffed and the Jets meekly take the 3. 4 points lost.

- 2nd quarter - Geno has Cumberland 5 yards behind the Steelers D (a rarity against a LeBeau D) and overthrows him by a yard. Later in the game Ben has Sanders behind the Jets D and hits him in stride. Huge difference. Jets lose a quick 7 points there.

- 3rd quarter - Geno throws into triple coverage from the Steelers 23 and gives them their first takeaway of the year. 3 more points lost minimum.

So thru 3 quarters the Jets left 16 points minimum on the field in a game they lost by 13.

In contrast the Steelers lost 4 points maybe when Brown couldn't hold on to the back shoulder throw from Roethlisberger, although Cromartie got a hand in there so it counts as a pass defensed. Other than that they pretty much maxed out their scoring chances, with two field goals from outside the redzone and only two possessions getting into the Jets redzone.

If the Jags can put up 19 points vs the Broncos must mean something about their D.

Nov 24 Pats vs Broncos

That's going to be the game of the year.

Washington is just not very good right now. They're making the types of mistakes bad teams do to lose. Defensively played great vs Dallas outside the 1st drive, but penalties on O & awful ST play are just an indication that this team has some coaching issues. My personal thinking is there is a disconnect from MS & KS.

oh and Pryor what the fuck were you thinking you fuck head?

this is gonna happen to him now and then, especially on the road and even more especially in a hostile environment like Arrowhead. The kid has talent out the ass but is still incredibly unpolished. his o-line sucks, but he also needs to not leave the pocket so quickly. he played like garbage, but overall i still think the Raiders do not need to draft a qb. But he has to learn from stuff like that because he looked like he had no clue

I was really praising KS last year for his playcalling and his innovation....I have no idea where that went...they have no identity right now on offense...very difficult to watch.

lol. there is a 100% chance that the raiders draft a qb.

hungover from dallas/sandwhich game perhaps. do get their best defensive player in Von Miller back as well.

really? why would you draft a qb when you have one who might be the answer? This might be a great chance for the Raiders to get a nice package for their pick. Combine that with the fact that they already will have a good position and they have a ton of cap money and they can be something very soon

Learned - sean payton graduated from the andy reid school of clock management. 3rd and 7 from the 20 , NE 1 timeout with 2:21 remaining in the game and you throw the ball?

Case in point:

Least surprising stat of the day. Raiders Terrelle Pryor pressured on 55.3% of dropbacks yesterday. Worst of the season for him.

GB without James Jones really hurt their offense yesterday - status on Cobb?

What is the deal with balti offense, is it going to be this inept all year long? GB w/o Fabio Matthews and could only muster 17pts with 7 of them coming after the game was decided.

Note to cardinals o-coordinator when you have a statue like Palmer as your QB don't have him pass out of his endzone it never ends well that way.

initial reports on cobb are positive but nothing concrete yet.

and i agree with your point on Zona but that coaching staff is completely stupid. they have a potential stud rb there I think, in Ellington, but they keep letting the corpse of Rashad Mendenhall take some of his carries

I learned Petey Carroll will do whatever it takes to win, even if that means trotting your obviously-concussed kicker out to kick FG's and kickoffs after the backup holder botches an attempt at the end of the first half that gets returned for a TD.

That was an abomination if I've ever seen one. I'm sure Petey will come out and say they checked him over and did testing and found he didn't have a concussion. Well, that's BS and if you saw the hit there is no way you could conclude otherwise. I hope the league drops a hammer on his ass.

Look at his eyes:

Yeah that kicker got KTFO. The trainers asked him what his name was to see if he was ok and he said he'll take a large fries, cheeseburger and a coke. He was out of it.

What I don't understand is why was he so far up in the coverage to make a tackle? The kicker is suppose to be the last line of defense not the man who makes the tackle.

really?

The Raiders have to upgrade both lines...I don't see them going QB early.

Veldheer and Wiz both out hurts and they are their two best on OL, and then Gurode went out yesterday, was always going to be a struggle

they won't go QB early, only team in that division who needs to go QB early is KC (but with the 2014 pick likely being a 2nd now they probably won't)

If they had a top 10-15 QB they could make some noise in the playoffs, that defense reminds me of the Ravens of 5-6 years ago

Lang's Monday Night Play - dude lost his 100 dime play on the Saints yesterday.

75 Dimer on a 2 team 6 1/2 point teaser on the Chargers +9 and the Over (44)

How does that scam artist get a full 9 points if it's a 6.5 pt teaser? Line was never 2.5.

Source also said that Cobb "nearly broke the fibula all the way through." Was adamant that this will take 6-8 weeks to recover from.

Just got word from a source that #Packers WR Randall Cobb will miss 6-8 weeks with a fractured fibula. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/227733081.html …

All i know is that loss is on the offense at then end of the day. The Ryans are easy to laugh at and esp Rob's fats ass, but the defense wins on 4th down, then gets an INT....Drew gotta do something

And the refs were awful. How Jenkins gets flagged and then the same play happens on the other end and nothing.....completions off the turf, holding never called...

How about the picked up flag because, "the defender ran through it"

What?!

With his NFL career seemingly over, former pro quarterback Tim Tebow hit the beach in Hawaii this weekend ... without his shirt.

Tebow was spotted being oiled up by a woman ... but fear not, his virginity is safe -- the woman is his sister Katie.

There was a buzz that Tebow had a shot with the pathetic Jacksonville Jaguars, but when we asked Jags owner Shahid Kahn about it last week, the guy just laughed it off.

So now, Tebow is focusing on more important things ... his tan.
