Who's touching this? Or any insight? I might tag more money on skins +7 and might tease myself with a ML pick... I think the +7 is a little bogus and something smells fishy.

I agree ,just did a little post in your thread .I seen Wash D nasty,They will finish in the top tier of nfl this season.I think skins run the ball down phillys behind ,And try not to put ball to much in hand of J Campbell, JC can make plays and he will,Just think Betts Portis will be to much in a lower scoring game skins 20 Phillies 13 .Wash takes this and the Division this yr.Phillies have westbrook ,thats it .After they get behind wash early crowd will be on em .ML for sure here

skins and the division??? Have you seen the cowboys play? They're way ahead. I think skins need atleast another year to develop Campbell... we'll see tomorrow night if the skins can put a good game together. Hope we win this!

You guys read anything on Mcnabb and how he's doing. Last week he did not look too good, looked tenative.

To me last week Donovan didn't look like he was rusty, he looked like exactly the same Donovan who got knocked out of the Tennessee game last year. The same one who lost to Jax at home.

Occasionally he plays those games. Where he's just not all there.

The problem for the Eagles is, the way their coached, when he's not there, the team is f**ked unless the defense is going to win it for them.

Because they are unbalanced offensively in terms of relying on Donovan, if he's not playing marginally well, they're going to struggle. And last week he didn't play very well.

Actually part of that falls on the O-line. They had a horrible game, not just in terms of pressure, but Donovan had a lot of balls batted down.

But his throws weren't as crisp, his decisions weren't as sharp. He didn't lose the game for them, but even an average day from him and they would have won.

Maybe that's some rust, but like I've said, I've seen this Donovan before.

That all said, I think this game sets up very well for the Eagles.

The Eagles have a significant home field advantage on Monday nights. Other cities will argue they do, too, but I'm not convinced anybody beats Philly in this. That start time allows for so much drinking before the game starts, it turns the normally rabid Birds lovers into sort of an angry mob.

You can't really prepare for that as an opposing QB. It's just something you have to live through and Jason Campbell hasn't had the pleasure of experiencing the gauntlet he will have to walk through tomorrow night.

Which, by the way, will be all the more tense and angry based on how the Eagles lost last week. For the fans, more than the team itself, the team needs this game and you should see the Linc in top form.

So based on the fact that Campbell won't be able to hear, and that Jim Johnson will be sending blitzers from everywhere short of the parking lot, all the Eagles need to do is be smart with the ball offensively and I think they win this game.

Personally I think they win by 10 or more, but I wouldn't lay more than the -7 and feel very comfortable at -6.5.

Good luck with whatever you do.

I have to side with JoeP here...

  • MNF in Philly is a horrible atmosphere for Campbell or any visiting team.
  • I think McNabb acts like McNabb, as JoeP said, except this time he acts as a good QB.
  • Washington's safeties are prone to the long ball. Taylor is known for his hits not his coverage skills, and Landry is a rookie known for his big hits as well. I think McNabb can manipulate this.
I like Philly -6.5 here, but I am uncertain on how many units I will make this play...

I was going to start a thread pertaining to tonight's game because I want the forum's opinion on this game. Forza beat me to it, so I'll be bumping this thread all day for you, Forza. I am still deciding on it myself...

Blue Chip makes a good point about the Skins' secondary.

Their defense has two things sort of working against it tonight, and they both revolve around their aggressiveness.

First, overly aggressive teams are always vulnerable to the screen pass, something Philly does extremely well because of Westbrook's talent.

Second, just as BC says, because their secondary likes to jump up for the big hit, that opens them up to getting hit over the top.

If Portis can rush for like 125 or 150 and the Eagles turn it over all night, that will be one thing. But short of that, I've got issues with the Skins in this spot.

Line is always inflated a bit for the fav on MNF so it is hard for me to go with a favorite. Line also jumped to 7 from 6 but has now came back some with a majority of bettors on Philly. I only lean under either way

Jason Campbell wasn't that good in week 1 and I don't expect him to be lights out in front of a national audience in a hostile environment with Jim Johnson blitzing the shit out of him. Philly laying the points, please.

The philly blitz could also HAUNT them tonight if Washington is able to get their backs or cooley out into the flats or behind the blitz.

Philly guys....Is Lito out?

here's the Statfox.com write up

A knockdown affair is on tap in the Philadelphia, as the Eagles and Washington try to match Dallas with a win in the NFC East. The Redskins are 2-9 (4-6-1 ATS) in last 11 trips into the City of Brotherly Love and are out to reverse fortunes from opening whistle. Washington actually leads the all-time series 74-64-5 lead, even after being swept last season.

The Redskins must feel good following a three-point win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 1, but in those results sit reason for trepidation. The Skins were atrocious in 2006 but went on their annual spending spree in free agency to reverse the trend, and the Fins should not be used as an objective measuring stick. The Washington defense held Miami to just 3.3 yards per carry, giving hope to defensive coordinator Greg Robinson the defense is back. Especially impressive were linebackers Rocky McIntosh and London Fletcher, who cleaned up making a host of tackles in the opener. On offense, QB Jason Campbell failed to impress with just 12 completions for 222 yards and two interceptions versus zero touchdowns. The rushing numbers were great, averaging 4.7 yards per carry for 191 total rushing yards with Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts leading the way. Washington did suffer a tremendous loss as tackle Jon Jansen broke his ankle, which will end up hurting the Redskins running game both today and in the future. Sportsbook.com has Washington as a 6.5-point underdog and in this rivalry the dog in only 1-6 ATS recently.

The Eagles were expected to once again serve as a model for others to follow, hitting the 2007 season as a favorite to battle for the NFC title. While it is just one week of work, it may be fair to take the results of Week 1 and turn them into worry. Against a persistent Green Bay defense, QB Donovan McNabb completed just 45% of his passes for 184 yards and one TD. McNabb is not the nibble scrambler coming back from devastating knee injury and was a sitting duck in the pocket, being swallowed up by the Packers front four like a bowl full of Campbell’s soup. The Philadelphia offensive line came into 2007 considered a strength and was woefully ineffective last week. Brian Westbrook was part of the rushing attack that really struggled, averaging just 3.6 yards per carry (29 carries for 103 yards). On defense the effort was strong and should have been enough to avoid the three-point loss. The Eagles earned four sacks and were relentless in pursuit of the Brett Favre, holding the Packers to a lowly 2.7 yards per carry as well. Those efforts should have produced better results; however Philly was betrayed by deplorable special teams. The failure of this unit, literally gave the Pack the win.

Keys to the Game
– In order to limit the unrelenting blitzing schemes of DC Jim Johnson, Washington needs to run the ball against undersized Philadelphia front. This makes the Eagles play more straight up and keeps Campbell protected against potential troubles. The Redskins are 10-5-1 ATS on the road vs. NFC East teams. Philly will in turn try to flush the Washington running game; make Campbell beat them with the pass. Antwan Randle El was finally something other than a decoy and was a factor in first game win. The Eagles have the ability to return him to former role. Philadelphia is 8-3 ATS as a home favorite on Monday night, while Washington is 3-5 against the number as a road dogs to open the work week.

Monday Night System

Lito is out.

Yeah, he's been out all week.

He generally gets hurt in the first week of the season and misses a couple of weeks. They expect that.

They do expect it; I read an article somewhere about how Philly practiced all week as if he wouldn't play, even though he was questionable.

Still, no problem for me. Philly handles business tonight and covers the 6.5 pt spread

After witnessing week 1 and the debacle of week 2.. who knows what's going to happen? Who knew the underdog browns could run up the score to 50+ against the bengals? Who knew the TB could man handle the saints? I seriously don't like the odds of the skins playing in a tough philly stadium with their violent and annoying fans but there is something in me that is irking and believing the skins can just pound the ball with betts, portis, and sellers with no problem. The biggest Q mark is Jason Campbell if he can be decent the skins have a serious chance. History isn't on the SKins side against the Eagles...

Laying 7 points after only having McNabb for 1 game from injury, with an undersized defense, losing to he Packers (who seem pretty good now) and BIG NAME recievers (joke)... is kind of suspicious. SKins d will keep them in it. I say skins should focus on the run and stay committed in the first half to it and then open up the pass in the second half.

I'm sticking with my skins ATS and SU. Good Luck everyone.

Not so fast. Remember that this is Philly's home opener too so that crowd is gonna be even nastier..haha...and McNabb better show them something. I think he is a little nervous of that kid Kevin Kolb coming in and repalcing him. T

The more and more I read into stats, trends, etc from everyone here is making me feel more and more comfortable with the Skins (despite this being McNabbs first MNF/home game since injury) about this game. Is the public favoring the under? I'm assuming so. I might throw in an over bet as well.

Vegas doesn't like to lose.

So no one here is backing the Skins with me? Am I that much bad luck? Do you all hate me?? :( tear.

jk...wow that was Yag.

Thats a blatant lie! He normally waits until about week 10

Exactly. There's a pattern.

He starts off hot. The Eagles stop running the football. He cools off. The Eagles start to lose. He gets hurt. For the most part that takes at least eight or nine weeks to play out.

Good point JP about the Skins potentially getting burnt on the big play, that's a fear of mine as a Skins fan. But Ron Jaworski made an interesting point today about the GB game. Green Bay didn't respect the Philly WRs and were in single coverage the entire game, and they weren't respecting McNabb's scrambling ability also, apparently. If this is true, which I assume it is since Jaws is reliable, then the Skins defense should be in for a big day. They have the CBs to matchup with these WRs with Springs (shockingly uninjured), Carlos Rodgers, and Fred Smoot. Greg Williams defense is only successful if it's able to blitz, if the CBs can play man to man all game, I expect this game to be very very close, and low scoring with some huge plays from LaRon Landry. The defense was awful last year because the CBs were hurt all year and they couldn't play man to man with their makeshift secondary.
Just throwing that out there, don't want to give too much of an opinion on the game since I'm clearly biased, but I think those are some facts people on the fence should consider.

No, ATL, that's a great post.

This is the problem I have as a Birds fan with the organization. I actually like Kevin Curtis, but until he does what Donte Stallworth did, and that's to prove you are going to need to provide help over the top or he'll beat you, people aren't going to respect the Birds' passing game.

This was what was great about TO. You 'had' to account for him from day one. Now, what made him better (on the field) was that even when you did account for him he'd still beat your *ss.

But when the team decides they don't need a guy on the outside like that, that they can get by with second and third tier guys--whether that's because they have so much faith in Donovan or whatever--it naturally limits the team unnecessarily.

Ugh, it bugs me.

We'll see what happens tonight, hopefully they test that single coverage with the likes of Baskett deep.

Otherwise, you're right, if the Eagles try to keep everything underneath they're going to get guys lit up by the likes of Landry and Taylor.

watching the tailgating going on at the stadium and the winds are really whipping the flags around on the RVs

not sure how (or if at all) that will play a factor tonight

How wonderful...

yesterday I watched the worst football game ever ( Minny vs detroit), where I was cheering against REGGIE BALL.

tonight I get to cheer against TONY BANKS in washington.

I hope

Thanks Joe, I've got a couple more reasons to like the Redskins (they'll keep coming as the game gets closer, I'm starting to freak out):
1) The Redskins were the #4 rushing offense last year, most of which came at the end of the year with Campbell/line getting used to the zone blocking scheme and Portis is back and looks to be at 100%.
2) The Eagles were 24th against the run last year, I don't think they've improved.
3) McNabb only completed 45% of his passes last weekend, and didn't even try to scramble last week. I'm not trying to be ridiculous because it's way t early, but he reminded me of Daunte Culpepper last week.
4) Skins got 400 yards of total offense on Miami, last year's #4 ranked defense, and Campbell played like shit. If he doesn't throw an INT I love the Skins chances SU, plus the loss of Lito Sheppard will really hurt Philly, this just feels like the type of game where Santana Moss goes off.

What I'm worried about:
1) Westbrook, especially on screens as Joe mentioned ... but I do love London Fletcher's chances of blowing a lot of those up (Rocky Mcintosh looked awesome last week too).
2) Big plays, but I don't know where they could come from with those WRs, other than Westbrook.
3) Loss of Jansen .. I guess, Stephon Heyer looked awesome in his place, but Todd Wade is starting; if he falters, I'd be confident with Heyer again.
4) I would say Jason Campbell, but as any good Skins fan, I think he's going to be awesome.

Feel free to add or question any of those.

Show me a quarterback as shitty as Tavaras Jackson and I will

I think JP Losman and Rex Grossman are terrible, but did you watch the Vikings game?

Tavaras Jackson was throwing out pop flies to the Lions defenders. I've never seen a guy throw 4 interceptions as shitty, and then pull himself from the game in freaking OVERTIME!

What a cock sucker
:smiley_acbe:3 of them were really bad .1 was just bad

moneydog, you are cluelessdog! Eagles win this game by double digits, the redskins flat out suck and the only team in the division worse is the giants! you have no clue, i will add on to my eagles bet -7 pts after reading the morons in this thread saying skins win division! Thats frigin hilarious!
