Should UCLA fire DeShaun Foster tonight to try and salvage the season ??

majent

Oklahoma Sooners
They are 0-3, having lost to Utah (fine) but UNLV and New Mexico too (both unacceptable).

Next week is a bye so the next game is 15 days away.

If you put an interim HC in place to cover the rest of the season, maybe you can salvage something and at least get to a bowl game.

Sometimes a new voice midseason (or in this case 1/4 through the season) can spark a team and something good can happen.

I cannot imagine it is a huge buyout.

If I was in charge I would go ahead and cut him loose tonight tarmac-Lane Kiffin style circa 2013.

Easy to say I would do this behind my keyboard with zero clout in the program but curious if anyone agrees?

Would cost UCLA about $5.3M to fire him right now........maybe a bit more given remainder of this season....Wasserman has the $$$$

And their OC while they are at it. I have watched all 3 UCLA games this year and it appears they just use some type of random play generator to determine the next play.

It does not help that Nico is way overrated and paid.

All progress was lost when their DC left for USC. That defense last year got better as the season went on. Then the cherry on top was Nico coming in and most likely fucking all chemistry up.

Does anyone have a line for who will be fired first, Brent Pry or DeShaun Foster?
It's crazy, I don't remember the last time two coaches got canned so early in the season.

Sign of the times. It's business. Sad for them and their families but it is what it is.

You have got to produce or at least not get embarrassed by like that by those types of opponents, though OD might
be pretty good this year.

Coaches make a ton now. Both multi millionaires with buyouts. Never have to work another day if they don't want to. I never feel sorry for fired coaches anymore. Shit Big Ed was thrilled when lsu canned him.

At DeShaun Foster's age (45), his 5.3M buyout won't go very far here in Orange County, CA.

Maybe he can live in Corona or Riverside to stretch that but 5.3M isn't rich down here if I am being honest.

I guess I will have a couple of months of pretending that maybe the Hokies may be good again with a good hire, before they hire whoever and they are not good.

The AD is still employed. It will be interesting to see if he is still there in a couple of weeks or so.

After taxes probably about 3m. I'd like to try with that.

Yeah, there were more at the LAX Hertz facility on Saturday.

I wonder how early that photo was taken, though.

The official game attendance was a tick over 31,000.

One of the issues of a Friday night game in LA is the traffic which does not die down until at least 7:30pm if not later.

Sunset last Friday night in Pasadena was 7:03pm and there is some decent light in the photo so it may have been taken between 6:30 and 6:45pm when most attendees were sitting in rush hour Friday evening traffic.

Either way, the attendance was horrible.

Official attendance takes into account all tickets sold so season ticket holders that no show would still be in the official attendance number. That could be really early since there's still daylight and it was a pretty late start. Neither team is anywhere to be seen.

Fair points.

That was taken before kick-off. It filled up more throughout, bit still, it was ugly.

Oh I know it was taken before kickoff because at halftime it was already dark.

Logically, it had to be pre-kickoff just based on the amount of daylight.

I am guess between 6:30 and 6:45 pm after the players warmed up and went back to the locker room.

Kickoff was at 7 pm.

Pasadena sunset was at 7:03 pm.

Of course we know that even after the sun sets, there is still some daylight though pretty faint.

Yes, that was an ugly crowd in terms of pure numbers.

They had no choice IMO but to pay out the small $5.3M and cut the coach loose.

It was not working.

They will continue to destroy water polo and beach volleyball though and I'm all for it

I played JC basketball with and was good friends with Mike Whitmarsh who went on take up Beach Volleyball (after college) and became one of best all time. I've seen his daughter playing B VBall for UCLA on TV fairly recently.

Very small.

After that beatdown by UO, with an extra week to stew, I think it's either an utter debacle or a blowout win, and only one of the two pays better than 3 to 1.

I'm playing Tulsa moneyline just in case I'm right.
You my be. Starting QBs are out for both teams

UCLA is worse off than Oklahoma State. Oklahoma St has a long record of better records than their resources indicate they should, fans that care and support them, a great on-campus stadium, and a university that thinks it's import they be successful.

UCLA has the serpentine huddle, one of the great trademarks in the history of college football, but they quit doing it years aqo and now only do at the spring game. They may have even dropped it there for all I know
