Got a bad back that kept him out for most of the year, but he still has skills... and the skills the red wings need to make a push for the cup.

Give a pesty gritty guy (the way this day has gone) but he still has some speed and can finish

lol... not going to go into the conditions on the Bert trade... its crazy, on Wings performance, if Bert re-signs etc etc.
 
All but one of the major players in the west right at this moment have drastically improved on paper...

Ducks have been left behind unless BUrke pulls one out of the hat in the next 10 minutes

Very surprised by Biron move. Seems silly to me to get rid of a good backup when you are in the playoffs.

I thought the same thing Tuck. If anythign BUffalo got worse on deadline day.

Losing a back up who doesnt mind the role (and played real well in the playoffs last year in the same capacity)

IMO 2 years fromnow, Novotny will be sorely missed by them. Big kid who can skate.

Then picking up Conklin... there were better goalies on waivers, ala Leighton etc:down:
 
scratch that Islanders losers... sure turned that around with a late deal to get Ryan Smyth from the Oilers

Nelson, Omara and 1st round pick - price is steep for the long run, but sure helps them make s run down the road.

Word is oils / Smyth couldnt get a deal done this morning, Smyth wanted 5.5 mill a year, Oils couldnt justiy it
 
Definitely interesting timing / coincidence though.
