<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Adrian Aucoin</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Defenceman
Team: Chicago Blackhawks
Age: 33
Rumoured Suitors? - Canadiens
The Blackhawks pinned much of their immediate future on Aucoin when they signed him to a four-year, $12 million deal in 2005. But the veteran blueliner has not lived up to expectations, battling groin injuries and spending a lot of time in the press box because of his recent defensive struggles. Aucoin can get his game back with a new team, but with two years and $8 million left on his contract, the price could be too much. Recent rumours had him possibly going to Montreal for Craig Rivet and Sergei Samsonov.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Todd Bertuzzi</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Left Wing
Team: Florida Panthers
Age: 31
Rumoured Suitors? - Red Wings
Coming off back surgery, a healthy Bertuzzi could give any team an edge in a tight playoff race. But off-ice issues aside, a big drawback is the remainder of his $5.3 million salary that has to be paid out. That will limit the number of potential suitors, but teams would be getting a player who can still dominate and set the tone in any given game. Bertuzzi will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Jason Blake</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Left Wing
Team: New York Islanders
Age: 33
Rumoured Suitors? -
Blake is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July and got in a bit of hot water when he gave the Islanders a hint of the 'sign me or trade me' motto. But reports say he has changed his stance a bit and wants to remain an Islander. Blake's camp is seeking a five-year deal in the neighborhood of $18 million, but contract talks may be put on hold as the team focuses on getting into the postseason.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<table width=517><tbody><tr><th>Eric Brewer</th></tr><tr class=one><td class=left>Position: Defence

Rumoured Suitors? - Oilers, Thrashers
Head coach Andy Murray has brought a winning attitude to the Blues, but a playoff spot might not be in the picture this season. Brewer, acquired by St. Louis in 2005 in a deal for Chris Pronger, is set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end, and the remainder of this year's $2 million salary is workable for a team looking to improve its blueline. </td></tr></tbody></table>

<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Bill Guerin</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Right Wing

Rumoured Suitors? - Senators, Red Wings, Maple Leafs
Guerin, who won a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995, has plenty of playoff experience and brings veteran help to any team looking to make a postseason run. The one-year contract he signed with the Blues last summer makes him the perfect rental player, much like Mark Recchi and Doug Weight were last season. If St. Louis seems like it's on the outside looking in, the gritty scorer will be a hot commodity come Feb. 27.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Olli Jokinen</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Centre

Rumoured Suitors? -
While Bertuzzi and Roberts are the hot names emerging from Florida, it's surprising to hear Olli Jokinen being floated around in circles as well. He signed a four-year, $21.5 million contract last year to stay in Florida, but rumblings out of the Sunshine State suggest the team is listening to offer. With Peter Forsberg gone, he's the next best available player based on his skill, durability and contract status. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Gary Roberts</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Left Wing

Rumoured Suitors? - Maple Leafs, Senators
If Florida falls quickly out of contention, GM Jacques Martin could be looking to sell off some veteran talent in exchange for picks or prospects. Roberts could be a candidate if he waives his no-trade clause. Injury woes aside (suffering a hip flexor in January), Roberts takes very good care of himself and would be beneficial for any team in a short-term postseason run. The Roberts-to-Toronto rumours have always been kicking around, but it won't have much meat to it if the Leafs fall out of the race for a playoff berth.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

1062.gif
<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Sergei Samsonov</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Left Wing
Team: Montreal Canadiens
Age: 28
Rumoured Suitors? - Blackhawks
Simply put, the stats show that Samsonov has been a bad fit for the Canadiens. A change of scenery may be the remedy to get this speedy and skilled forward back up to par, but the sticking point for the Habs may be his $3.75 million salary next season. He was recently waived by the Canadiens, but it looks like the Russian sniper and the team are stuck together until a) he finds his groove down the stretch or b) GM Bob Gainey is able to find a suitable trading partner.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Ryan Smyth</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Left Wing

Seeing Smyth in anything but blue, white and orange would burn the eyes of Oiler fans, but if the two sides can't come to terms on a new long-term deal, it could be a harsh reality. Smyth may be the heart and soul in Edmonton, but you can bet the Oilers won't let the soon-to-be unrestricted free agent walk away for nothing. The pressure to sign him or trade him will only intensify if the team falls out of contention for a postseason berth.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

0256.gif
<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Sheldon Souray</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Defence
Team: Montreal Canadiens
Age: 30
Rumoured Suitors? - Ducks
Seeing Souray in anything but bleu, blanc et rouge this season is a long shot. But if the Habs fall out of playoff contention, GM Bob Gainey will have a tough decision to make - try to re-sign his star defenceman or trade him for assets. As the league's top offensive defenceman this season Souray will likely seek dollar amounts similar to that of Toronto's Bryan McCabe last summer. And if Gainey can't get him locked up, the market will be huge for Souray's services. And according to the rumour mill, the Sharks are circling...literally.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<TABLE width=517><TBODY><TR><TH>Jose Theodore</TH></TR><TR class=one><TD class=left>Position: Goaltender

Another season, and another year of struggles for the former Hart and Vezina Trophy winner. Pierre Lacroix's big acquisition from Montreal last March has turned out to be an $11.5 million ($5.5 million this year, $6 million next year) albatross for current GM Francois Giguere as backup Peter Budaj has unceremoniously taken the No. 1 job in net. There are few doubts that the Avalanche would love to trade Theodore and his hefty salary, but you won't find any takers.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

last I heard last night was the Bertuzzi could be a done deal by the end of the day today. Some things to work out

Also the Sens are leading the race to get Gary Roberts out of Florida

Fla looks to be the big sellers on the market this season.

this is a big shock

Sources tell TSN the Florida Panthers have agreed to a trade involving Gary Roberts and have asked him to waive his no trade clause.
But sources say the deal is not with Toronto or Ottawa, the only two teams Roberts has said he will go to. So at this point, the ball is in Roberts' court, but there is no guarantee he will waive the clause.
Piitsburgh is believed to be the team with the most interest in Roberts.
Roberts is in the final season of a two-year, $4.5 million contract he signed with the Panthers in 2005.
The 40-year-old has 13 goals and 29 points this season.

Sens add Blue line depth

The Ottawa Senators have made a minor move to bolster their blue line leading up to Tuesday's trade deadline by acquiring defenceman Lawrence Nicholat from the Washington Capitals in exchange for minor-league defenceman Andy Hedlund and a sixth-round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
In 18 games with the Capitals this season, Nycholat has registered two goals, six assists and averaged 20:31 of ice time per game. Nycholat was an integral member of the Bears run to the Calder Cup championship last season, as he netted 13 goals and 44 assists in 73 regular-season games. A 5'11”, 200-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, Nycholat made his NHL debut in 2003-04, playing nine games with the New York Rangers.

lots of rumors about more trades out of Florida... and the Leafs just stepped it up in the Guerin race... considered the frotn runners now'an_horse'

Sources tell TSN that Florida Panthers' forward Gary Roberts has waived his no-trade clause, paving the way for the Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins to consummate a conditional deal that they agreed to on Monday.
The deal is not expected to be made official until Tuesday morning because Roberts must physically sign the no-trade waiver before the two teams can make it official.
If there are no issues, Pittsburgh will send defenceman Noah Welch to Florida and Roberts will join the Penguins for the stretch drive and playoffs. Roberts is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
The Panther forward was told by General Manager Jacques Martin on Monday morning after practice that the club had found a trade it deemed acceptable and all that was required to consummate the transaction was Roberts waiving his no-trade clause.

Roberts had made it abundantly clear that he would only waive his no-trade clause for a trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs or Ottawa Senators.

Roberts battled a hip injury and missed 13 games from January to early February. He has played in 50 games for the Panthers this season and scored 13 goals with 16 assists.

Biron to Philadelphia for a draft pick

Surprised, Buffalo will need to make a move to add a backup today as well. Few available ... thought they would have added depth.

Wouldnt be surprised to see them take the Philly pick and use as bait to do so... its going to be a real high pick

IMO Philly got rocked again.. time will tell:cheers:

Sabres add Conklin to replace Biron

Buffalo just added Ty Conlink from COlumbus... so they got their back up

'an_horse'

Laroque has waived his no trade clause from Phoenix... traded to the Penguins for F Dan Carcillo and 8th Round darft pick

Forward Georges Laraque has waived his no-trade clause with the Phoenix Coyotes for the purpose of being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for forward Daniel Carcillo and an eighth-round pick.
Laraque, 30, has cemented his role as an enforcer in his nine-year NHL career with 878 penalty minutes in 546 games.
He is under contract for US $1.1 million this season and $1.3 million next year after signing a two-year contract last summer.
The trade reunites Laraque with head coach Michel Therrien, as the two worked briefly together with Granby in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Like Roberts, love Georges Leroque, Go Pens.

no doubt Crosby wont have to fight for himself anymore.

Roberts will add a tonne of grit in the playoffs, saw him do it in Toronto few years back.

Nobody in the league works harder than Roberts:shake:

still working out the particulars, but SJ has aquired Bill Guerin from Blues when iits all said and done.

looks like the first rounder they got from Jersey last year

Bill Guerin has been plucked off the available list as the St. Louis Blues have dealt the veteran forward to the San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks have reportedly given up their first-round pick in 2007 acquired from New Jersey and a non-roster player to be named later.
More to follow.
Guerin signed a one-year contract with St. Louis last summer and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

Guerin has played in more than 1,000 NHL games during his 15-year career with New Jersey, Edmonton, Boston, Dallas and St. Louis, recording over 700 career points along the way.
The six-foot-two, 210-pound forward hoisted the Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995. Guerin has played in three all-star games.
Guerin was originally drafted by New Jersey in the first round (fifth overall) in the 1989 NHL draft.

Yeah, that's where I remember Roberts from and it's why I like him.

I really didn't think the Pens would be this active, but given what they gave up and who they got, I'm really happy with what they've done. It seems like it's time for Joe to start paying attention to hockey seriously again.

I also really like this Guerin deal to San Jose. It's good for them and I like him as a player, too. I just hope he's got some left.

They havent given up anything to get some solid depth guys who will help in the logn run. 8th rd pick and some guys who wouldnt play.

Laroque is just a guy to 'have there in case'... only played 10 minutes in PHX etc, Roberts will be the pest in front of the net they need on the PP second unit.

I honestly highly doubt he'll be around next year as from what Ihear he has some pretty high demands on the contract renewal

Pens Trade Dominic Moore to Minny

not really worth a thread title edit, but Pitt making moves to accomodate their moves so far...

Yeah, I don't even know who Dominic Moore is, so it's going to be tough for me to miss that guy.

I agree with you. Who knows what Roberts will do next year, the guy's 40 years old for crying out loud. At that point in your career you don't really have as many options as you might think.

Also, they may only really want him for this run. To add some grit and teach some of the kids how you play in front of the net.

He's asking for a 2 year extension after this season. I doubt the Pens would lock him up for that. Exactly what it will be for. Teach the young guys some veteran ways. He relished that role in Toronto.

Dominic Moore is just a fast skater... nothing more, but something Minny needed.

No problem fellas... one of my favorite days of the year, just wish the Leafs would be more active:down:
