Houston Cougars @ Rice Owls
9/2/2006 9:00 pm

In a CUSA conference opener, the best team in the league squares off against the worst. Kevin Kolb on Houston should be in for a big year and should ahve no trouble leading lots of scoring drives vs. Rice. A bad team with a new offenesive makeover, Rice should struggle to score. It is a rivalry game as well as a conference game so there is no way Houston wont be 100% focused and ready to go to begin the season. They will cruise by 2 or 3 TDS. Bought 1 point to get down to 14, but still a great value even with the shitty line.

Pick: Houston Cougars -13 (-110)

Risking 2.20 to win 2

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs @ Nebraska Cornhuskers
9/2/2006 3:30 pm

One of my favorite teams of the year, Nebraska, is in a great position to cover in week 1. Playing at home with a very excited fanbase and improving team, they should be very fired up and set to score tons of points. La Tech had somewhat of a fluke season last year and still were not even that good. They have a terrible track record against major teams and should be in for a beating. Of all the teams favored big week 1, this is the best bet.

Pick: Nebraska Cornhuskers -21 (-110)

Risking 2.2 to win 2

i know bodog sucks but i have to use it due to some technical shit. I should be able use other books in about10 months.

thursday

I try my hardest not to make plays just for action but since this is the first football in so long I had to take a game tonight.

South Carolina @ Mississippi St.
8/31/2006 8:00pm

I don't like south carolina this year and have already taken the under 7 wins future and nodbody likes mississippi st. I think both these teams will struggle in the opener on both sides of the ball. Gut feeling is a sloppy, poorly played low scoring game with sc coming out on top slightly. Not a fan enough of sc to play them but I think the msu defense will hold them to a pretty low score while the bulldogs wont have much of a chance to score. I see a 20-13 game or somehwene along those lines.

South Carolina/Mississippi St. Under 41

Risking 1.65 to win 1.5

Utah @ UCLA
9/2/2006 7:00 pm

First game for the new look UCLA and it wont be pretty. UCLA had a ridiculusly lucky season last year with a one dimensional team. That dimension is all gone this year as drew olson, mo drew and mercedes lewis have all departed. They have talent, but will be nothing special at all. Utah is very solid program that is flying under the radar right now. They will roll into LA and put up a lot of offense on the bruins (even with andy dudwig leading the charge). This year, ucla wont be able to keep up.

Pick: Utah + 3 1/2 (-115)

Risk 2.30 to win 2

Nevada @ Fresno St.
9/1/2006 8:00 pm

Interesting game for the second night of the college football season. In a crucial WAC conference battle, both teams will be looking for an early visit to the top of the standings. Both teams return a lot of players although Fresno must replace the skill positions. Both defenses should have the advantage tonight, with Nevada returning lots of starters and getting to break in a new QB and with Fresno returning a lot on defense and having a raucous crowd behind them. I see both offenses struggling to get going, Fresno with the inexperience and Nevada with the hostile crowd and 1st game rust. In my opinion, Nevada is a program that is steadily on the rise and will continue to get even better in this season, while Fresno is entering a period of decline. I think they win tonight, but struggle to pull away from Nevada all night long.

Pick: Nevada/Fresno St. Under 55

Hawaii Warriors @ Alabama Crimson Tide
9/2/2006 7:00 pm
A game that is becoming more and more appetizing to me. Alabam is a team I shorted in my future bets and I think that week 1 should be a good week to start fading. This is a team that lost it's star senior QB and most of it's defense, everything that made it a good team last year, an overrated goodd team at that. I think the offense will struggle although should score some points on the Hawaii D. On the other side I think Hawaii manages to keep this close in what I think will be a sloppy, uninspiring effort by the Crimson Tide. 15 and a half points seems like a great deal. Also in my favor is a 67 percent clip of bets on Alabama, yet the line has dropped 1.5 points since the open. This should be a play that Vegas cleans up on the public, as Alabama begins what will be a dissapointing season.

Pick: Hawaii + 15 1/2 (-110)

Risking 1.1 to win 1

#9 California @ #23 Tennessee
9/2/2006 7:00 pm

In the biggest matchup of the day, the focus will be on two programs looking for big years and a battle of the Pac-10 vs. the SEC. This is obviously a huge game, the winner will already be zooming in on a BCS bowl while the loser will have suffered a major setback. Both teams have high expectations after having dissapointing seasons last year and desperately need to rebound. The QB situation is a problem for both teams and should be the focus of the game. I think this is a classic toss-up game but I can't shake the feeling that California will take this game and prove to the SEC that football is played out west. Even though I am getting a terrible line, I am encouraged to see that although the the public is split down the middle, the line has flipped 5 points from a Tennessee favorite to a Cal -3. If the sharp money is on Longshore, then I am confident Cal will get it done.

Pick: California Golden Bears -3 (-105)

Risking 1.05 to win 1
*Waiting to see how the line moves to see If I want to double the bet. If it goes back down to 2 1/2 I will most likely pull the trigger.

Vanderbilt @ Michigan
9/2/2006 12:00 pm

I think this game is a blowout waiting to happen and a Michigan team that is hungry to make a statement. I think Vandy, breaking in a new QB and replacing the man Jay Cutler will be very hard this year, and @ Michigan to begin will be an impossible task. I dont like betting the big spreads so I am going to go with -14 for the half. A push could easily occur, but I dont see it being any closer than two touchdowns. I have never bet a half before so I'll keep it at one unit instead of the usual 2 for ATS games , but I have a good feeling about this game

Pick: Michigan -14 (-115) 1st Half

Risk 1.15 to win 1

-still strongly considering adding to Cal, USC/Ark Over,Arizona and Michigan (full game).

Tough loss in the 1st half, Michigan has great recivers and it was very hard to watch all of those dropped passes. A couple of wide open catches and Michigan would be well into the twenties and cashing me money. I think they break away this half and am hoping the WRs step up. I don't see Vandy scoring
Pick: Michigan -14 (-110) 2nd Half

Risk 1.1 to win 1

well...I hope you sweep the rest bro...football is all about execution and UM had very little

I like it...that will make game fall between 21 and 27 overall..sounds about right

Ill tkae the push. Looks like you were very accurate in predicting a passive finish for Michigan. I am very glad I waited for the line to roll back to 14 after it moved to 14 1/2

Florida St. @ Miami FL

A big rivalry game between two programs hungry for big wins is never easy to predict. Both these programs look to be in decline and a loss here would be very difficult to take for both fanbases. I think Bowden is losing control of this FSU team and they have way too many holes. i really doubt that they will be able to go in to Miami, which should be a more motivated and is a more talented squad. No doubt this will be a close game, so I dont think I could go with the 3.5. Hopefully, I can stay in the black for week 1.

Pick: Miami, FL Hurricanes -160 1 Unit
