Perfect spot tonight for the Rocket's to showcase their much anticipated new look offense we were all promised by Adelman and T-mac over the offseason. This is the second of a short 2 game road trip for the Rockets, they played possibly their worst game of the season to date against the Bobcats on Sunday where they were sloppy from start to finish, committing 20 t/overs and trailed for much of the game until late in the 4th quarter. However against a scrappy team like the Bobcats and with an earlier than usual start on the East coast it probably came as no suprise.
Rockets coming off a day's rest against a Grizzlies team coming off a short west coast swing and 2 days off at home who have already shown this season that they will continue to chuck the ball up without much care on the defensive end.
You've all heard of the "letdown" concept where a team coming off a big win fails to turn up the next night. I call this spot for the Rockets the early letdown/lookahead spot as one look at their next week reads a full strength Lakers team at Toyota Center tomorrow night, Spurs on the road on Friday and then the Suns @ home on Saturday night before playing the Mavs next Tuesday in a quick revenge spot. That there is a huge week for this team who are trying to show their championship credentials and solidify their impressive 6-1 start the season. However before this huge week they have to play one the easy beats of the West, not the most inspiring of games for the Rockets to get up for mentally. Fact that I see Grizzlies being very competitive tonight helps my cause on the total as well.
I'm wheeling and dealing on Tuesday night.
