Not sure how many are in this boat, I had him in two leagues. Trade deadline's long gone, gotta go the FA route in both leagues.

League "A"
This is a non-playoff league, 14 teams, best record thru week 17 wins. Standard scoring. I'm standing in a somewhat lucky first place by one game, nowhere near the most total points scored. MVP's been Josh Gordon, but Gronk had been helpful. Weekly FAAB add/drops, I'm looking good budget-wise, only teams with more $ are pretty far out of it, so I'll hopefully get who I want. Best guy to have for the next three weeks? Just going to list the usual suspects at the top of the projected score list ...

Pitta (seems to be the hot choice on roto ranking sites)
Tamme
Myers
Celek
Paulsen
Gresham
Pettigrew

League "B"
This IS a playoff league. PPR. I would have been an underdog this week WITH Gronk, so bad timing. Weekly add/drops, no budget, blind auction, bid real money. So again, I SHOULD be able to get who I want. Lot more to choose from in this league, and in this one, I need the best guy for THIS week, will worry about next week if I get there. Just going to list the top 10 or so on this week's projected score list, couple of these guys are questionable to play ...

Olsen v. Jets
Clay v. Pats
Reed @ Falcons
Quarless @ Cowboys
Walker v. Cards
Celek @ Vikes
Gresham @ Steelers
Fleener v. Texans
Miller v. Bengals
Bennett @ Browns
Pitta @ Lions

Think I'm leaning Clay here.

Pitta in a dome against a poor pass D

I was surprised to see the Lions rank 10th against the position, for whatever that's worth. Also think Clay may be a little more explosive, maybe a slightly better shot at a higher score, more yards ...

Available in both, might be on to something, especially this week.

Exactly...I have top TE's on all of my squads. Had Gronk in one league but have Orange Julius backing him up, so, I'm ok there. Could use Tamme as a 3rd WR as a flex play on a couple squads, just too bad he's not WR eligible, even though that's the position he's really playing.

Check out what Tamme did Sunday for roughly 2 quarters in the slot for Welker.

I'm in the same boat in both leagues I made the playoffs in...I picked up Clay/Bennett and will play matchups in one...the other one I had Jimmy Graham so I'm fine for now and have good RB at flex where Gronk was being used..

But basically you just need to stream and play matchups

I think pitta is the choice. I don't think you can start tamme this week. are we sure he's gonna get that role? I don't think so. I mean he should see more snaps but cmon he's not gonna be welker.

Personally, think I still might go Clay anyway, but...

"- TE Jacob Tamme is in line for extensive playing time if Wes Welker can't play Thursday. Although listed as a backup tight end, Tamme is in effect the Broncos' No. 2 option at slot receiver. He filled in for Welker in the second half Sunday and flourished in a similar backup slot role when he replaced Brandon Stokley against Tampa Bay last December."

TE is such a hit or miss position after the top few, so I would roll Tamme out there as a high upside play in a potential shootout.

Per PFF's Mike Clay, Tamme played 45-of-46 snaps following Welker's Week 14 concussion, and lined up either out wide or in the slot on 100% of his downs.

well damn, that's a lot. I thought they had another WR that they liked, but I guess he's not a short route guy.

Clay is a stud. I'd go him over any of them if he's an option. I mean theyve given him goal line carries and miller is out.

Not over Julius, I wouldn't think. But Tamme could blow up and then we're all left saying "I knew I shoulda rolled the dice".

Thanks for everyone's help, good ideas. Have decided to target both Pitta & Tamme in league "A", figuring I have room for both and I'll probably need another TE anyway if Welker gets back in weeks 16 and 17. Planning on starting Tamme tomorrow there if I get both. Only have room for one in league "B", targeting Clay, Tamme, Pitta in that order. Seems like Clay should probably be on a roster in most leagues, but only 8 teams in that league and everyone's benches are stuffed with quarterbacks. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I agree. I have watched a lot of Miami and tannehipl has really improved. Clay is a freak and his fav target. As I mentioned before I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a gl carry
