Do you think Ray Rice deserves a 2nd chance? And do you think its fair if he never plays again, simply because there is video evidence?
 
In this case, it is the video evidence that makes me think that he should play again. She lunged at him and he reacted, once. He was callous with how he treated her KTFOed body afterwards but I don't get why he is the bad guy they are portraying him to be. Is there other evidence he is a woman beater or something?

He deserves to not be blackballed. Whether he is good enough anymore is another question.

Yes we all know. That's what everyone has in their short term memory. He was playing hurt. I think he has a good 3 more seasons of starter level talent....


He just needs a team to take a chance on him.

And let it not be forgotten that Ray Rice had a CLEAN record before this.... through high school, through college and in the NFL.... the fact he could be shunned based on this one incident would be really wrong imo
 
He should be allowed to play again.

He's not good enough to play again. His good years were a product of a very good offensive line.
 
maybe, but he brings nothing to the table that 50+ other backs do, they'd be cheaper and the guy wasn't even falling forward.

less than stellar RB skills don't cut it anymore, dime a dozen...plenty of undrafted FAs that can do what he does
 
The problem is that the comparable, even if lesser, options don't come with the distraction that will take place for whatever organization takes Ray Rice back after his incident basically started the "No More" campaign in the NFL.

Not worth it. First and foremost it will be a PR nightmare. The media will just hound the NFL, the team and the other players. Peripheral groups will make it a nightmare. If the NFL lose 1 or 2 corporate supporters over it due to public pressure then the owners won't be happy.

if there is a team considering him they would be better off looking at a comparative replacement level player

as for Rice himself, no he doesn't
 
He would have probably been cut by the Ravens by now and looking for work even if his punch had never happened. He was an aging running back off a bad year. 28's old. Not a lot of room for those guys anymore.
 
I doubt it. If he played any other position, he'd have a job. But very few teams feature a guy for 20+ carries, and he's not worthy of that anyway, so why bother? I wouldn't even want him on my practice squad. Just due to age, rust, and most recent performance. Strictly business.
 
I mean, if he's looking for work as organizational depth, I guess. But I doubt that's the role he wants.
 
Without the video, teams would line up to give him a tryout atleast. I really don't think it's fair to say he was done based on one year. A year he was playing hurt. He's clearly being blackballed

These are not good people.

The NFL is about talent, they don't care about the video. The fans will unless he is good, then those fans will defend second chances for everyone (unless a scum bag is good somewhere else with a second chance)

Vick was a PR nightmare. That was ok over time.
 
Browns have zero use for a retread Raven RB, we've seen that movie. Let the Crow fly.
 
If anything I think RR should be allowed to play before some of these other fuckers playing if we mean just on the abuse level factor(pretty sure that is the point of the thread).

Not sure where he was in the contract etc., but it kinda feels like the Ravens got bailed out a bit.

Easy cowboy....one of the more underrated backs out there. ALWAYS ran hard and one of the best screen pass RBs in the last 10....

but yea, sadly NFL teams don't want to give RR a chance....sucks
 
Look, I have nothing against Ray Rice's presumed ambition to play in the NFL. He's not being blackballed. I'm a Browns fan, if there were a wife-beating quarterback out there with anything left in the tank, I'd pick the guy up at the airport. Ray Rice isn't employed because he plays a young man's position and hasn't been effective in two years, wasn't active last year. He's not worth a look.

The video doesn't help, but it's like 10% of his problem. If he were three years younger, had a good 2013, the video wouldn't keep him out of work.

The worst part of the whole thing is ray rice has never been in any type of trouble before. I had classes with the guy so yes I'm not completely impartial but he's a good dude. Much better than some of others who got off easy IMO. And I think he deserves a second chance and has done the work necessary to amend his situation.

If he was demarco Murray or lesean McCoy he would be in a camp right now and would have been courted by many teams
But he is passed his prime, not enough left in the tank for teams to put up with the PR

Did she marry him instead of leaving him after the incident because she was forced to in order to repair his image or because she enjoys being beaten?


Rice has never been caught doing drugs, etc... he gives back to his community in NY ever since he got drafted...

I agree w/ NBAfan here. I can't argue for someone who beats their wife. But from the facts we have, this appears to be a one time incident. And Rice's only legal trouble. A lot of of women abusers gave gotten second chances.

The video tape killed him. If not for the tape, he would have gotten a second chance. He may be washed up and he might not have made a team, but he would have at least gotten an invite. I really think Dallas (based on their past drafting and signing of "problem" players would have given him a look).
