I enjoy the local Pinot just fine but last night I was feeling the boldness and robust flavor of a supple Barolo, which as I’m sure you know is nicknamed the wine of Kings.
Paired excellently with the porterhouse, crab and pancetta gnocchi, and asparagus.
Had a Bookers neat after the meal actually. ($18 pour; not bad for a top shelf bourbon)

I’ve had a few Italian wines I liked, usually selected by those more in the know than I.
