Stalking the umps
Can't seem to find anything yet. Odd, considering they usually have something announced by now. At any rate, if anyone has a link or info, feel free to post it here, and I will continue to look periodically throughout the day/tomorrow.
 
Alright, here's what I found. Shortened it so it's easier to read. Still looking for the rotations but, at the very least, here are the umps for each series.

Oak vs KC: Davis (Crew Chief), Hoye, Iassogna, Miller, Tichenor and Bill Welke.

SF vs Pit: West (CC), Eddings, Emmel, Fletcher, Gorman and Wegner.

Oak/KC vs LAA: Ted Barrett (CC), Barksdale, Guccione, Nauert, Nelson and Reynolds.

Det vs Bal: Kellogg (CC), Barry, Bellino, Culbreth, Schrieber and Wolf.

SF/Pit vs Wsh: Winters (CC), Carapazza, Diaz, Hallion, Kinght and Wendelstedt.

StL vs LAD: Scott (CC), Cooper, Drake, Layne, Meals and Porter.

WC Replay Officials: Cuzzi and Timmons.

DS Replay Officials: Bucknor, Conroy, Hickox and O'Nora.
 
To note: Bucknor won't be ON the field, yet I sense he'll still find a way to fuck things up. As well, thankfully, Angel Hernandez's name is nowhere to be found. :Happy3:

MLB will assign seven-man umpire crews to the League Championship and World Series according to an AP source. The reason for this, according to the anonymous source, is to accommodate baseball's instant replay technology.

The seventh umpire will begin each series at New York's MLBAM Replay Review HQ, rotating onto the field for Games 3 to replace an on-field umpire, who will head to New York for the series' remainder. The seventh umpire's starting position upon joining the crew for Game 3 will be left field, setting up a potential plate job for Game 7 (the Crew Chief role, circa 1964-2013).
 
Found the rotation for the LAD/StL series but I can't seem to find the rest. Anyhow...

Rotation order goes HP-RF-LF-3B-2B-1B

Home plate: Meals
First base: Drake
Second base: Scott
Third base: Cooper
Left field: Layne
Right field: Porter
 
Miller with Shields 15 innings 4.20 ERA Miller with Lester 2.35 ERA based on 38.1 innings Pretty hard to play KC here. Although in the regular season Miller does seem to favor the home team.
 
Hate to see that, seems like the entire world will be on the under and I kinda liked the idea that runs would be scored. Can't take an over with Miller, ever.
 
Yep everyone is on the Under, for sure. Yet line holding steady at 6.5 (various juices). I think I'm going to roll w/ Oakland. I think dopes will bet KC once they get off work and drive this line down a bit. I'm all in on Lester here. It's a no brainer to me. The crowd will be loud, but he's too experienced.

Cokin is interested in the under but only if Lester has David Ross catching and not Norris. Lester ERA with Ross 2.02 and very hard to run on while Norris gives him an ERA of 2.35 but has a much better bat.
 
Umpire thread at Covers went into it and I learned crew chiefs start at first base.

Very surprised by the Oakland catcher. Why not Ross. Soto, maybe I am missing something but do not see him catching for Lester last 2 years. Just a watcher.
 
Soto just came to the A's the last month of the season. Ross is on the Red Sox. A's have Jaso (out w/ concussion), Soto or Norris as the catchers.

I am willing to believe this but a little stunned that baseball-reference com is off by a mile on this game. Surely they would have listed him if Soto had ever caught Lester and the first round of /he playoffs is tough to start out. Is Soto a quality catcher

They said that Ross isn't as good as Soto when attempting to throw out runners. Thus, they started Soto against KC's speed.
 
For the ALCS:

KC vs LAA: Ted Barrett (CC), Barksdale, Guccione, Nauert, Nelson and Reynolds.

Det vs Bal: Kellogg (CC), Barry, Bellino, Culbreth, Schrieber and Wolf.

No word yet on the exact rotation and/or who will be behind the plate for game 1.
 
feel like over guys see unders this time of year and vice versa, nowhere near like a game in July so tread lightly
 
This is true and Max has an ERA edge on 6 compared to Chris on 5. Tough game but leaning Max first 5
 
Vargas absolutely horrible splits with Nauert. 0-1, 16.20 ERA, 12 ER in 6.2 IP.

Weaver 0-0, 1.29 ERA, 1 ER in 7 IP.

***Not much sample size though FWIW.
 
Sample size is a problem. We are talking about 1 game. Ump does seem to like chalk home teams
 
Meals is famous for first half over in day games. This might not be easy though

Strasburg on 5 1.93 ERA
Verlander with Barry .67 ERA 4-0 based on 27 innings
We know that Baltimore is the better team with a much better pen and that Detroit at one point was a top day team and is now 3 games over 500 while Baltimore is 6 games under.
We know both starters in the Baltimore have mid 4 day ERA's although playing WS Verlander in his last game went 8 in a day game giving up 1 run. Baltimore is not the WS. Detroit could win today but we are not getting much to find out. Currently just feel like waiting for night games and betting Baltimore
Kershaw with Meals 2.36 ERA based on 34.1 innings
Wainwright 3.51 ERA with him based on 25.2. I have a lot of respect for Wainwright but this does not look good for the Cardinals
Washington in their last 8 games with the real starters has given up 8 runs
Peavy is playing great right now and SF is a very good day team. I can not rule out a SF win but I am not eager to bet on it. I guess depending on the ref I might though

Thanks for this. Peavy's playoff numbers are atrocious with an ERA close to 10 in 5 starts. I think SF can win the series, but big edge in game 1 for the home team.
 
Strasburg's first p.s. start, don't know if I'd want to pre-game bet that.

Do think the O's have the freshness mojo over the well-traveled Tigers.
