Ohtani is ridiculous ..this year might be better than last year...but Judge is having a phenomenal year and he is a yankee.

I'm going with Ohtani thoooo

Old man yelling at a cloud me, would normally say Judge by a mile. Usually I don't want an MVP from a team 31 games out of 1st, but Ohtani is just ridiculous.

Judge for me, but it's really close.

Judge is anywhere from -10,000 to -20,000 to win.

Is this more of a who would you vote for? Because there is literally zero chance Judge doesn't win at this point.

Ohtani is the best player in baseball, he could probably win the award every year...outside of someone having a season like Judge, which unfortunately for Ohtani is what happened this year.

Hitting wise its not close. Pitching wise Othani isn’t winning the Cy Young but has had a terrific on a bad team.
I don’t see how the voting is close when Judge is on the verge of winning the triple crown in the AL while breaking the soiled single season HR record.

Agree 100% with wiseplayer. Ohtani is the biggest factor in 1/6th of the Angels games where he is pitching, and he's been great, top 5 in the league, in that role. In the other 5/6th of the games he's been a very good but not great player, and the Angels record reflects that. The pitcher/hitter combination makes him a threat to win the award every year and I hope it can continue. He's fun to watch.

Judge is having one of the all-time great seasons, a recording setting home run season combined with a possible triple crown is an impact easily beyond Ohtani's season. I don't see a difficult decision here.

If the Angels were a wc, then Showtime gets the nod.

Ohtani should be the MVP this and every season he puts up these numbers both pitching and hitting. This is a truly historic player and I don't ever believe in knocking a player because of his teams lack of success. The answer as to who should be MVP is Ohtani every year that he continues to be an ace pitcher and middle of the order bat.

I personally don't see why it's a discussion
Angels with Ohtani=last place. Angels without Ohtani still in last place.
Yankees with Judge=first in East. Yankees without Judge and they struggle to make the playoffs.
Judge has almost 40 hits more than the next Yankee, roughly 55 more runs, roughly 55 more rbi, 30 more hr, and 300pts higher ops. That's most valuable to me.
If you're value is still bringing last place...then I don't know.

I know that many think it's all about who is more valuable to their team but I think that's BS. Make them team MVP, not league MVP.

Safe to say Ohtani is more valuable worldwide to MLB than Judge but as of now, Judge is actually in the middle of trying to do something historic. I would vote for Ohtani if Judge doesn't win the triple crown, just me.

Couldn't care less how the team performance is when it comes to MVP, Cy Young, etc

There hasn't been a two way all star level player since Babe Ruth so if we are talking history it is Ohtani doing it every day.

Judge can't pitch, and he certainly wouldn't post a 2.35 era.

I think more like this, but I also get the Judge love too. Saw it a few years ago with Miggy. But what Ohtani is doing this year might be better than last year.

Not sure it's a comparison to last year, it's insane

Happens to be running into a Yankee doing historic things, can make the argument that doing it in the Bronx is part of what makes it so incredible. Can cut the tension with a spoon on each at bat

that's why i posted this, because it's interesting to hear two vastly different opinions. I think people underestimate what Ohtani is doing. It hasn't been done since 1918!

True, that's something I didn't think about. Lot of pressure.

Hes having a better year than last season!

His power numbers are down a bit, but his pitching improvements more than make up for it

Strikeouts are higher, FIP is almost a full run lower

Judges season being this good in today's numbers, also just shows how insane bonds great seasons were

4 year run with a wrc+ of 235, 244, 212, 233

In 2004 he was walked 37% of the time

Just insane numbers we will never see again

This is all incredible to me. I was just going to ask about JUdge hitting alone WAR vs. Ohtani combined WAR. That's unreal.

Ya depending where you look, I use fangraphs

Judge is at 11, ohtani at 3.9 hitting and 5.4 pitching

Ohtani 2nd in league in k rate too is another thing thats just wild to me

I think the only batter to have a league leading WAR as high as Judge in the last 50 years and not win MVP was Trout in his rookie year. He was 2nd to triple crown winner Cabrera. Lucky for Judge he's also in line to win the TC.
