Ohio State vs Notre Dame Discussion Thread

I'll hold off for now, but ND getting that many points is very tempting. Can't bet early these days with the new covid or whatnot possible

ND pas D vs OSU WRs the matchup here. ND holds receivers every play so if they actually call it this game is over by halftime. Had the OSU PSU future crumble because PSU blew that game (still have OSU win natty) ND was very unimpressive, especially Leonard. Any pressure and it’s a pick 6 waiting to happen. OSU speed will track him down in run like 11 did for PSU. ND is a fraud, Allar or Leonard have no business being in a natty. Love gets more time to get healthy as he was worthless against PSU but this OSU outfit is PSU on steroids with elite WRs and 10x the team Georgia ever was with their back up QB.

27-16 or 35-10. Neither would surprise me. PSU would’ve had a chance here just because of familiarity and revenge narrative. With ND rubber meets the road. Either way, about as unwatchable a natty as I can remember as i despise both programs.

But how do you really feel?🤣

After seeing both teams very closely, I tend to agree with WoverineWise. I can't stand OSU, but their speed is just on another level, and will be tough for ND to stop on both sides of the ball. ND has a lot of holes that PSU failed to capitalize on. I can't see OSU making the same mistake

Ohio State should win the game but they were not as impressive as the world thought they would be last night. They really benefited from the fluke screen TD last night. A 1-1000 type of thing. They also benefited from the opponent being without their top weapon in the passing game for most of the game. They benefited from a team refusing to qb sneak. And they won 4th down in a huge way. For all the talk about their offense heading in, if Texas doesn't go full mentally disabled at the end of the half (UTEP would never give up that score), Ohio State would have been held under 300 total yards and with it, they still couldn't get to 400 yards. I think Ohio State was slightly better than Texas last night but I think they regressed in the passing game despite Howard playing well. They outgained Texas by 29 yards and had texas converted first and goal from the 1, they are the favorite from there to win imo. Tosu was better first quarter and never looked better again.

They deserved to win for stepping up on all the 4th downs but one and for not choking the way Texas did to end the first half, but they didn't look on another level.

Not surprising in modern football the two best pass defenses are meeting in the title game.

I hope it is a good game and either team is a worthy champion.

ND far from a fraud bruh

Great post and I think is a perfect summary of last night.

Teams are more than their quarterback. Probably the best one‘s team lost in the first game and you can heavily criticize every other team‘s quarterback. ND has a very well-rounded team, one that beat Penn State and beat Georgia by 13. It‘s probably the best-coached team and is anything but a fraud.

ND just seems to make low probability big plays when necessary. Without a running game you’re asking those prayer jump balls to always come down with. Allar was horrific and completed 0 passes to any WR. Penn St man handled ND on the line. Can ND play from behind? Is there any threat or a moose? If Texas abandoned the run trying to get 2 feet on 1st and goal what will ND be forced to do? ND defense isn’t elite.

Literally nothing about ND is elite.

Penn St beat Penn St.

This is a legit handicapping forum, the best online 100% - NOT A DRUNKEN/BARSTOOL type thing ......hyperbole makes no sense - that's for BLANKETS
>> stop trashing it out with "SEC IS OVERRATED!!!!" ......"Irish are a FRAUD bro !!!!!"

Instead - handicap the fucking game

How can ND's OL hold up for 4Q - vs one of the best defensive fronts we've seen in awhile
* likely a 3rd string LT (immense) - starter Jagusah is back - but far from 100% - was backup RG - will they move him back? - ND OL is young - on paper a horrific matchup......

HOW IN THE HELL CAN THE IRISH MOVE THE BALL HERE?

Can DAY/HOWARD rise to the moment? - or will they choke - AGAIN?
>> watch out that MF is pushing the right buttons - at the right time

Can the Irish D shut down WR Smith / limit their running game like Texas did?
* I don't see why they can't........?

Is there VALUE on the Irish here? - sure OSU is awesome, and should kick their ass - but the Irish seem to be a team 'on a mission' - a team of 'destiny'- is OSU the same or just a very talented team - ripe for an upset ?
>> line probably 'should be' about 6/6' IMO

Much needed post.

Appreciate it.

The dead of winter is getting to a lot of us.

I didn't watch that much, but it seemed like they just rolled their safety over the top of his side every play, basically taking away what he does best which is the deep ball.
Exactly what I thought (was watching the game via work so not the greatest view).

What did Texas do versus Jeremiah?

Similar to Michigan?

Nothing extreme as far as I can tell ......bracketing over the top - short yardage shading a LB/S taking away the slant

Main issue probably (gotta watch all-22 to be sure) - CHIP BEING TOO RIGID - failing to adapt

My question (not sure) - what was your PLAN B?
>> how many times did you send him in motion?
how many times did you line him up in the backfield? - maybe send him in motion/wheel route - GOOD LUCK
how many times did you throw him a screen?

OR did you line him up STATIONARY - same spot - make it as easy as possible to cover?

BTW - I can't stand it when coaches blame EVERYTHING on EXECUTION (meaning the plan was perfect - players screwed it up)
>> that's what Day said when asked about Smith - "We didn't EXECUTE" (players fault).

NO GREAT OC ALLOWS A DEFENSE - TO TAKE THEIR BEST PLAYER OUT OF THE GAME

Texas didn't do that much on Smith but the safety was on his side every pass play I could see. I don't think OSU adjusted that much because its like okay we will just throw to Ebuka and Tate who are basically nearly as good.
ND defense might keep them in it for a while, I just don't know how they generate offense. Good luck running QB power with the RB lead blocker through the A gap on Tyliek Williams and Sonny Styles. They must have done that play 8 times vs. PSU. That shit will not work on OSU. You have to throw on Ohio State; maybe Denzel is still banged up?
I just can't see the Irish generating chunk plays and its only a matter of time before OSU gets something going.

Freeman>Day for sure but they ain't out there blocking and tackling.

There are unders to be played I would think.

Quarter?
Half?
ND TT?

The Irish create turnovers and that's where I would be leery of their TT under.

I did play it, small, at 17.5 +100.

Why? I feel the same total could get as low as 43 or 43.5

I really feel like the only way Ohio State loses is Ryan Day. I really like ND coach and they deserve to be here, but I think the Rudy shit is over. I like that CB for ND Leonard I think, but these boys are gonna have their hands full.

I played ND TT Under 17.5 a few days ago.

I have futures tixs on OSU beats ND and OSU National Champs I bought after Oregon game

Only thing I can add after watching every osu game with my diehard cousin for the last few years is osu always has trouble stopping a team with a good running qb. That is exactly what Leonard will do if they get the ball inside the 15 yard line. Also throwing the ball to their tight ends. That’s how ND can score. GL

Could not believe Michigan beat Buckeyes as a three td dog, in Columbus, after beating Bucs the three yrs prior!
Everytime I go over this game tomorrow see Buckeyes walking away with it............then that Michigan game comes to mind.
Really believe that's the reason the line isn't double digits.
Liking 1st quarter under 9.5. Quarter betting is chancy though, one big turnover, special team play can spoil it.

Ryan Day in that pic looks like he wonders what's it like to be covered in gatoraide after the last game of the regular season. 😉
