And it didn’t even take him 100 pitches. 13k’s against cle is tough they not a high k team really.
Always hijack!!Bar, was showing my son some pitching stats about success rates of working the count and bad/good hitting counts i was showing him Skubal as an example. We were watching the game.
We all know how good he is. But this is impressive.
He has faced 390 batters this year (prior to tonights game) . Only 8 batters have had a 3-0 count on him. 4 of them resulted in a walk. 1 of those walks scored a run. 2 of those 8 actually struck out.
Sorry to hijack your thread. But thats ridiculous.
Yeah not so much.Pretty sure you've already clinched a playoff berth
Is this just a slump or does it indicate deeper problems?
Definitely not.they were never going to keep that pace.
There's a lot of division games remaining, but who's going to take it? Cleveland? They've gotten hot lately but are still 7 back and do have the 3rd easiest strength of schedule remaining, but I still don't think they can catch up.They aren't winning this division.
Great question. There's a lot of division games remaining, but who's going to take it? Cleveland? They've gotten hot lately but are still 7 back and do have the 3rd easiest strength of schedule remaining, but I still don't think they can catch up.
Will be interesting to see if Detroit adds any pieces this week. Surely they will be, right?
Paddack more the guy in this. What a weird trade. Not like Minny are relevant but you rarely see intra-division trades at the deadline in general
I guess Dobnak is the key piece? Paddack isn't good.
He has to be traded nowSupposedly, before Vest nearly broke his wrist, Suarez wasn't leaving Detroit as a Diamondback this week.
Shall see.
Consistently inconsistent. Can look great for 3 innings then randomly give up a 3 spot. Thing is everything got screwed up for this rotation when Burnes had deal with TJ. Gallen last year, Kelly last year....suddenly Pfaadt might be the best starter on the roster after the deadline. ERod's season is a toss off the TJ surgery, Nelson has looked incredible but Pfaadt is the most consistent left. And he's ridiculously inconsistent. The offense will pick back up, way too much talent not to but the pitching is going to be laughable the rest of the year. Blindly chasing overs with this team will make you pretty happy at the end of the day.Pfaddt last handful of starts have been solid. Right?
The bottom line as of today, Monday August the 11th ...
This team isn't a WS contender. They are playing the long game as far as that goes. They have the best farm system in the majors and are going to wait for these young kids. The patchwork trades for pitchers is simply lipstick on a pig.
Disappointing? Sure. But not a huge surprise. I did think they might make at least a medium trade.
Tough situation -- because the AL is wide open this year. Another bullpen guy + a bat might have been enough?
Shall see.
Hunt, myself and others have talked extensively about the Skubal situation. This needs to be figured out this December. Offer him the deal. Tarik doesn't accept, toy start the trade process. The value you can attain will paid VERY well with the young nucleus. The bottom line is you cannot go into next season with Scooby on the final year...
Why? What happens if they have 59 wins at the break again? You're stuck. You trade him after the ASG and the fans will tear the city down. You keep him and lose him after the season for nothing and the backlash is IMMENSE.
Remember we lost Max for nothing a decade ago.
Anyways, as far as the division race goes ..
We'll have a good idea in a few weeks. Huge loss by Cleveland yesterday to bring the lead back to 6 games. Both teams have light schedules in August. Detroit needs to win a majority of these non Astros games. I'd say that anything under 7 games at the end of the month means we're in for a photo finish in the division!
Detroit September schedule has Boston, NY Mets, NY Yankees, Miami, Chicago White Sox and these Indians for 6 games.
Buckle up!
Always about working counts for this offense...Bingo. Buckle up time. Gritty win today...been happy with the hitters working counts the last 5-6 games. Riley hopefully out of his slump.
Always about working counts for this offense...
Laziness and they have a tough time scoring.
I saw the stat again earlier today that you mentioned...Yeah they seem to have those one big innings, then can't get another one.
Also, we are giving up home runs at an alarming rate the last month.
I saw the stat again earlier today that you mentioned...
Copa in mid teens for HRs this year..
Usually like 24-26th in the majors.
I did think about some more humid games downtown this year but there is more to it than that.Global warming? I kid...
Tough losing to the shittiest franchise in MLB, no doubt.Tigers got fuckin worked last night
