Curb your enthusiasm for the Titans this weekend. The Bengals despite a poor offensive performance still have the potential to score quickly. The Titans are undoubtedly better than Cincy but it isn't a good matchup because if the Bengals jump out to a lead the Titans are in trouble.

Having said that I expect the Titans to win because the secondary is much improved and Haynesworth will play this time. However there is absolutely no reason to bet this game at all with the potential style problems the Bengals present and because Cincy is coming home off an embarrassing loss.

Lean Arizona as the Dolphins will struggle with the passing game the Cardinals have and their first West Coast trip. Probably a great game to bet the over as the Cardinals should get 28-31 and the Dolphins should continue to improve offensively

Steelers for a smallish bet. Much better team than Cleveland.

Think the over 39.5 @ Cincy will be interesting if Collins starts for Tenny . The Titans have weapons and Bengals off an UGLY performance coming home should improve "greatly" on week 1.

Panthers @-3 is probably a play . IMO winning at SD who doesnt overly impress me is much greater then defeating INDY atthis point . The COlts are so used to those 7-0 starts it needed a dose of reality. 2 OL out , stud QB played zero snaps in preseason and Dallas Clark lost early ...

As TeeDub and myself have mentioned 8.5/9 screams overeaction for the Rams . However it is a test . If the Rams fail to cover or win SU the it will show how bad they really are IMO..

With Jags decimtaed offensive line the Bills have to be of interest as well

Over @ TB possibly or TB. Bucs defense is better at home but didnt look very good vs NO especially in pass defense . Interesting to see how ATL offensive plays away now...

Niners and over ? Just think SEA has issues but should be able to find a way to crack 20+ points ...

Phins and over ? First how is the Phins at home vs the Jets 37 and ARI away vs SF low 40s and this is 39? Seems to lay to me on the surface...just think DOlphins can hang around ...

Pats ...and over ? Dont think Jets were impressive at Miami and well the Jets usually get whipped by the Pats but there will be pts in this game as both teams find the 20s...we know at times Favre tries to do much and what an opportunity to do to much..home debut vs arch enemy NE....

Texans. They got waxed but having a bad day happens when your playing a superior team in a tough venue. Enter Joe Flacco and the Ravens defense which past few years hasnt raveled as well....

Cleveland Browns again and again ! Why? Steelers made the most of the opportunties but there offense is not at Dallas level . Witten and TO killed them dont see comparable talents on Pitt. Though Willie Parker could be huge IMO..Browns lost the game when Braylon Edwards drops a suer 60yd TD...even mentioned in the game how CLE was looking past DAL for Pitt

MNF alot changes but think Philly and over .....

Early glimpses for me

Games Im looking at:

Houston -4.5
Bills +6/ML
Philly +6.5/ML
-- when i catch this line at 7 i will be hitting it. just not sure about the ML yet.
NYJ -2.5 all day, maybe get some public money to drive this line down too. (idiots will be excited seeing NE as a dogg)
Tenny +1

atlanta/TB over (garcia status pending, need to wait on that one)

As it stands, I'll only be able to play thru bodog or bookmaker :(

I will play Carolina. Anticipating a flat spot for Chicago off their huge superbowl revenge

looking at Tennessee. Should be value as there as I consider Kerry COllins an upgrade over VY, but the line will likely be shaded the other way. Cincinatti is just bad. This line is saying Tennessee is barely better than cinci, but imo neutral field, Tenn is at least a TD better than Cinci

A couple of stats I found...

The Ravens are 0-10 ATS (-9.2 ppg) since 2005 on the road on Sunday
after a game in which they made more touchdowns than field goals.

The Ravens are 0-12 OU (-9.5 ppg) since 1997 as a road dog after a
game in which they had at least 150+ yards rushing.

In week 1, favs covered 9 times, similar to last year (10)...Last year in wk 2, dogs covered 12 times ( with the opening lines)

Guys

Can someone please explain this Minnesota/Indianapolis Line to me please?

What am I missing here? The dome is a tough place to play, but it isn't among the worst places for a road team to come to.

Peyton looked rusty, but now he has a full week to practice. I know there missing some O-line men, but 2 seems to be a weird # here.

I was tossing 3 and 6 back and forth this morning on the way to work, and could understand both #s.

havent really looked at the games yet, but just throwing a couple things out there for the colts game marlo:

-colts are possibly going to be without both dallas clark and addai.... we know rhodes is a mediocre back at best. hes always been lucky in past years that peyton opened up the run with the pass....he doesnt make anything happen really, and he does not have good hands to catch passes out of the backfield/screens. he also has been prone to fumble
without addai the run game will really suffer.

everyone sleeps on dallas clark but inside the red zone that is peyton mannings #1 target. thats who hes looking to. dallas clark is there big play guy

-colts looked very vulnerable against the run against chicago and obviously thats what will be minnys gameplan coming into the game on sunday.
All-Day peterson/chester taylor even tavaris very well may toast them, and as bad as the colts DL looked and as good as minnys OL is, i would think the colts are going to struggle again against the run.

if you win the time of possession war, manage the game, and keep the football out of peyton mannings hands, you can beat the colts.

how do the colts usually fare against mobile QB's? anyone know?

So you think its soft ?? I really dont see how Indy is winning this game at the moment . I think Minnys effort was much better @ GB then what Indy did at home vs da bears ...Tavaris Jackson made progress as the game played out . From logical perspective GB is better then Chicago and well Minny had to do it away now home where Indy was home and is now away . Would expect Minny's play to improve comning home and hard to imagine Indys will improve much . Vikes Defense is near CHI level although weaker attacking the passing game . Take Addai out of the equation and where does that leave Indy ? Dallas Clark healthy ??

If books were saying that Minny is basically equalor slightily stronger then GB before the game then after the game neutral field think GB is maybe -1 or -1.5 pt stronger then Minny at best (probably a PKem though if we agree home field is worth about 3.5 pts) . GB worked very hard for there points and yards IMO...

With Indy the line is blurred based on everything that line was dramatically off . Seeing the Bears defense has returned amd Indy's OL is weaker , Manning is finding his way and Clark wasnt involved much due to injury . Would say after week 1 that game goes from -10.5 down to -4.5 range ....only see Indy as slightily better then the bears team at this point ......

So really I would say that Vikes should be about -2.5 here even -3.....

So true about Dallas Clark Cap. I didnt see your post while I was typing . The Colts to me are not loaded on offense anymore . They need Dallas Clark in the passing game and even backup Utecht is gone who was decent . I think they need to dump more balls to Addai vs good run defenses like they did in the SB win rather then make him take a punishment . We know Reggie Wayne is an All Pro WR but really need some teams to worry about Marvin Harrison again to make Wayne more effective. When the Colts offense started to blossom they had Harrison as there stud WR and the emerging Wayne so even with the same 2 players they are actually less effective WRs . They had Stokely who was a great #3 WR for this team because he had great hands IMO and Gonzalez just doesnt impress me at all. He is capable and solid but nothing special or reliable IMO . The TE stable was always deep and now its bare .

So I dont see why in the near term the Colts offense will be great or at least visibly better vs good defenses.....

Think I'm going with one of these four in my survivor pools... ari, nyg, gb or pit.

I really think the Steelers take Cleveland to the woodshed much like they did last season early on vs the Browns. I know it was with a different QB but the Steelers offense is more than capable of puttin up 30+...I dont think Cleve will be able to keep up going against a tough steeler defense.

I couldnt disagree more on the fact that the Vikings are gonna beat the Colts. I said it before the season and I will say it again, the Vikings are not a good team in my opinion and are the most overhyped team in the league this year. Jackson is garbage, and I did not think the play calling was good either. You have the Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor, 2 great backs no doubt, and they rush 24 times combined? You have Jackson who is inexperienced and just not good, throwing 35 times and running 9 times, which means there are probably at least 40 passing plays called for Jackson, no way. This should be a running team, all day. Childress should be calling for Jackson to throw the ball 15-20 times a game, Peterson runs 25 times a game and Taylor should be running 10-15. Dont tell me they were playing catch up either, for most of the game, they were within a touchdown. What about the special teams also, they looked frankly bad.

The Colts, what you really have to think about is that Manning took not one snap in the preseason, changing the whole dynamic of the team. You dont play with a guy for 9 months its not that easy to get into the game with a snap of the fingers. Harrison was injured, he was rusty, Manning coming off an injury. People are giving up on this team, WAY too easily, not to mention that that this defense is better then how they played against the Bears.

IMO The Colts run away with this one because this Viking is just not a good team all around.

very good point about wayne nut....
they used to always just line him up in the slot and he would find himself in man coverage with just one defender to beat and he was in the endzone... now that marvin harrison has lost a step or two and defenses dont have to focus on him as much anymore, things have changed

gonzalez has not impressed me either. he has some speed but no hands.
he dropped 3 passes that were easily catchable in the bears game alone, hell one hit him right in the numbers even.

and i dont even think they put wayne in the slot anymore i think gonzalez is there now. which i dont agree with either.

As much as I want to bet Minny as I believe they'll be above average this yr, I do not think they win this game.

Its hard to say the Colts don't have it after one game- without the deflating fumble-touchdown, the game could have gone a completely different way. Also, this game meant WAY more for Chicago than did Indi for many reasons, almost a superbowl for them to start the yr. I think the first game can serve as an early wakeup call for indi that they have to bring it weekly. Also, IMO as long as Manning is the QB, the Colts offense will be special. Although maybe not at the level of 2 yrs back, still Manning is, now esp, without question the best QB in the league with 2 pro-bowl caliber receivers- altho maybe not as their primes, still pro-bowl caliber. Gonzalez does not impress me much as well, and I know that Dallas Clark was a big option for Manning. However, imo, the receivers are only a reflection of the QB throwing to them. ie: SN said Utecht was decent, but it could just be that Manning makes him look decent.
I think Minnesota's pass D is many levels below Chicago- and they'll be burned by Manning. Their D was very unimpressive imo yesterday, as GB lost at least 10 pts off the board (the long ball to Driver, and FG at end of half).
I really dislike playing the road faves, but imo this line is right. After the Minny game I was looking for 3, and would jump on it. I got 2 this morning, and was slightly surprised, and will be further surprised if this line does not go up a bit. Manning is probably the hardest working and savviest QB, and after losing like that, I can imagine he'll be ready for this D. Maybe a Indi TT over.

Guys I will try to give my most unbiased opinion tomorrow. I'm tired as shit right now...

This is one of those games that if your backing Indy, its a max unit bet imho.

But I do agree with Cap, Nut, SF, and Alex on many of your points.

AG its okay to disagree with me thats the point of discussing the games . Having a bunch people who are gonna think differently share there reasoning . In effort to help everyone make a comfortable decision on who to play.

One thing is everyone should know that I dont hold Minny that high as I was jumping around the forum thinking of new ways and reasons for people to back GB yesterday.

You have some good points on the game .

With the play calling though I think we have to acknowledge that Minny was trailing and most of the 2nd H by 2 scores so if alot of the passes came from late 3rd quarter on its sort of understandable. Which the simple way is to just look at the play and play and count the plays because they really were down 11 points most of the way from what I recall ...The other is GB is a very tough time team to run on so its not that they could just hand the ball off and get 1st down after 1st down IMO . Peterson I dont recall doing much vs GB last year minus maybe 1 nice run .

I think Tavaris did look pretty bad in the 1st H but looked okay in the 2nd H . lets not kid ourselves and say we have expectations for this guy . Even bad QBs win games though . His role is not to lose it and I dont think he is the reason why they lost but granted he is part of the reason they didnt win . To me its 2 different things though . Again there isa difference bewteen being home and away especially since the Indy defense will be an easier task.

With AP though he is injury prone and with Taylor I think he is gonna be a 20 carry guy .

I sort of disagree that people are giving up on the Colts . I see it as the COLTS need a dose of reality its been way to easy for them for way to long . How many years now have they opened at least 7-0 ? Its become to much of a given the Colts will win or bounce back . I just look at the team and what says SB about them ?Do you really think there will be more Minny backers at the end of the day when all you need to know is pick the winner ?? Really ??

How is 1 week gonna help the OL or Manning ? How is Harrison gonna shake off the rust in a week ? Its a process IMO not a overnight thing (okay week thing) .

If Dallas Clark is out this offense has limited talent . Like cap said wayne doesnt play the slot much more and doesnt get to beat his guys so easily because no one cares about Marvin Harrison anymore. As well as Gonzalez glad i wasnt the only one who thought he could have made 3 or 4 plays that he didnt . In football you need talent and Indy doesnt have as much as it had it previous years .

The Vikes will run on them .

The Colts defense might be better then it played and I probably agree . So why is going to play better ? Its on the road and not home , AP is better then Matt Forte in his 1st NFL game on the road , is Tavaris Jackson at home worse then Kyle Orton on the road .. I dont think so? Bears are better at TE but not at WR....

Bears didnt impress vs Indy in the sense they just made a few plays and played defense . They kept mometum from the Colts and the defensive play was huge . After that you need the COLTS to beat you through the air and weaker OL and so-so WR corps with Clark out makes it tougher then it sounds....

The way I see it is you cant say Minny is as good as GB and now think the COLTS are still 5-6 pts better then them ? Would Indy really be -9 if it hosted the Vikes ?? Just not the way I see it but we have time to figure it out ......

Minnesota is going to control the A Gap just like Chicago did. The two Williams' will be in Manning's face before he can make a second read.

Peterson is just as big as Forte and will handle the smaller Indy defenders.

I like Sota as a dog ml.

Minnesota/Indy

Minnesota's defense for how hyped they were in the off season in my humble opinion did not perform up to par. Now this could be for a few things. The left tackle for GB has always played Jared Allen tough even back to his days at KC, regardless he had 1 batted ball, and zero sacks and zero tackles. Right now I have as many tackles as he does. Also Rodgers had alot of 3 step drops/quick passes in the first half. Obviously Mccarthy had that gameplan for his QB, so he could avoid mistakes. Our Linebackers were the brightest spot, Chad Greenway is a stud, he could be a elite Linebacker in this league, if he continues to improve. Our Run defense looked stout, we did let Grant average 7.7 ypc, but that is skewed with his 56 yard run in the 4th quarter. The biggest thing about the Vikings defense and there weakness is our Secondary, we have good players back there Winfield/Sharper, but were also starting a rookie at Safety. We have never been able to stop pass happy teams, that spread the field, and pass the ball all around the field.

Vikings offense has bright spots with AP/CT, but it pretty much stops there. Berrian is a serviceable WR, but thats where it stops. Jackson looked like he has for the last 3 years, he does not look confident back in the pocket, many times he holds onto the ball to often, and takes some pretty big hits from opposing D-Linemen. Jackson has never proved that he can lead us in a big game and win. Last year we were in a huge game against Washington, which basically sealed our playoff hopes. He didn't show up, and we got knocked out of the Playoffs. Last night was another example for him to prove to Vikings fans that he could be the leader of this team. He threw an Interception, and boom...let us down again.

On a bright side, GB was one of our toughest defenses we will play all year. At GB is always our biggest game of the year, always the most hyped, and always the game the players/fans get up for.

Indy looked terrible on Sunday vs Chicago, but I'm buying alot that is getting thrown out there right now about that game. Chicago had everything in there favor, they had revenge, they were healthy, they really didn't have alot of expectations. Chicago's D was aggressive, similar to the season where they went to the SB. Peyton looked rusty, there WR didn't look good, and Addai had a piss poor game.

More to come. gotta run

Good points SF .

I absolutely agree the Bears did nothing special . Its what the Colts didnt do or looked like they couldnt do.

To me the Bears did a good job picking up quality yards with Forte on 1st down on the ground . Making 2nd and 3rd down manageable to where they could either run or pass on both . To CHIO credit when they needed to make a play they did , now is that entirely representative of Chi or also partially on the Colt offense . I think its about both . KEY STAT : Bears 10-16 on 3rd down .

Regardless of what side of the ball we are talking I saw a Bears TEAM which made plays when it needed and the opposite from Indy who couldnt make a play to slow there opponent in a key situation.

While I agree the game meant more to the Bears why was evertyone so willingly to lay 10 points with Indy then ?? Every game means more to the opponents of Indy at this point after years of success . I dont know what people played on this game but I had bears 1st Q , 1st H and game and 2nd Half . So I did feel that way about Chi onSunday .

Now Indy they had a chance for an early TD in a 0-0 game they were 1st and goal from the 7 and selfdestructed . Addai hit for a loss , and incomplete consecutive 5 yd penalities , they are 3rd and goal from the 21 yd line ! 3 pts only so CHI stepped up and stole Indys momentum . Inside the 10 yourbasically aloowing a FG worst case like in bases when its bases loaded no out if you get out allowing just 1 run you did well .

It took all of 3 plays for the Bears to take control . Does anyone realize that Forte was running on 3rd and 6 when he broke that 50yd TD ? So Indy built a drive then Chi kept them from scoring 7 with in 1 drive of the next possession the Beras were down 7-3.

Colts get the ball back and punt . Bears get it at there 17 yd line and take it up all the way to midfield . On 3rd and 5 they RAN it again ! They failed to convert though.

Now Indy ball at there 17 and they put together a nice drive but again stall and settle for 3 points . Key to me is again the 1st time they come up with a 3rd down and it was 3rd and 10 they dont convert which happened on the previous drive they punted as well.

So 7-6 and bears ball. Again doing nothing spectular Bears drove the ball picking up a few yards here and there with a key 20yd pass to Clark . They get 3 points 10-6.

Indys ball they get a penalty on the kickoff stuck back at there 8yd line to start. Then 1st down they get sacked and next play Addia snuffed in the end zone for a safety . Now 12-6. Again Bears ball.....

they start by getting a penalty and are 1st and 20 inside 4 minutes on there 28yd line . They run it pick up 2 yards and 2nd and 18 they get 18yds to Lloyd . Another terrible momentum swing for Indy . Anyway keep moving it to Indys 30 with a minute to play . Orton gets sacked now 2nd and 18 with 40 secs left they run it for 3 yds . Then 3rd and 15 from the 36 yd line orton hits Clark for 29 yds to the 7 . With time running out they get 3 points .....terrible job allowing 2 huge LONG conversions especially with the clock being an issue .....15-6 HALF...

2nd H hester fucks up and his team starts at the 3 yd line. They dont do anything and that gives Indythe ball at midfield. Not suprising that Indy marches down the short field and scores a TD . Why ? because Bears finally fucked and gave Indy some breathing room and momentum. So now 15-13 again and Indy is back in the game.

No bears ball . What does the Colt defense do ? It allows teh Bears to go rom there 26 to the Colts 33 on short gains . Then Bears kinda fall apart and Colts step up . They stop Jones for a 1 yd loss and then sack Orton . So the bears lose a chance at long but makeable FG with Gould indoors . They have to punt and Colts building momentum.

Again all of 2 plays before BEARS make a play and cause a fumble which is turned into 7 points . So as the game was looking to slip away again bears make a play and COlts dont . 22-13.

Okay its crunch time now. Indy gets the ball and moves it up to midfield . They are 3rdand 4 which Addai catches a pass but gets only 3yards . On 4th and 1 they try to run RHodes and he is snuffed for a loss. Bad playcall IMO vs the beras defense when Manning is your QB. So again Indy does not make a play and Bears do.

Same deal as its bears ball they grind the ball up field again. 3rd and 1 near the 30 they hit Clark for 27 yds and score on a 1yd scamper . Its basically over now 29-13. Still 9 minutes to play the Colts move the ball upfield . get to teh Bears 36 with 5:30 to play and on 1st and 10 Manning gets sacked . yet again Bears make a play . Then 2nd and 17 all they can do is get a 2yd pass . So 3rd and 15 they get half back. On 4th and 7 again incomplete and YES the Bears agin step up and Indy doesnt .

So what I take away from Indy's opening game is the ABILITY to not once all game make a play , They had 2 that were close to start the 3rd quarter but really Hester 's fuck up allowed Indy to score its only TD and the loss on 2d down made the Colts able to tee off on Orton on 3rd down but they were still big plays for INDY . Problem was there defense never backed them up and Bears were doing nothing special all game.

I dont see what is gonna change when they have to play on the road now . They may very well make less mistakes and play better but the gap to close is HUGE IMO . This isnt the Colts teams of years past playing shitty teams . The Vikes are a playoff caliber team . The Colts have had trouble in the past @ Tenny and this Vikes team is better then those Tenny teams.

The Colts need work to gel and maybe get healthy . Its not gonna happen over night .

I have no problem with Peyton Manning for a guy who didnt play a snap he looked solid to me . I disagree with having 2 ProBowl WRs . Harrison is not even close to what I consider a Pro Bowl WR and that is killing Wayne who I dont think has diminished but the change in role has hurt his effectiveness now that teams can focus on him.

I disagree the WR are a reflection of the QB . I think its the opposite actually . The QB is a reflection of his WRs . No matter how many perfect throws Peyton makes if the WR dont catch them there are still incomplete's. I do understand though how a QB can make a WR better though . In the sense how a PG makes an offense better . The technique of passing the ball in the correct and perfect manner where it allows the WR or in baskets the shooter to finish off a play is immeasurable ...Hit a WR in a stride an it could be more yards rather then having him reach for a ball.

I think the pass defense of Minnys is clearly weaker then CHI. However how can one blame the defense for that long ball ? Sure they didnt do a great job if covering Jennings/ Criver whoever it was but the QB threw a perfect ball and the WR jumped and snared bewteen 2 defenders . So credit the QB and WR with making plays there more then knocking the defense . Minny did well IMO making GB work for there yards .

I think people misunderstand hard work. Manning may very well work his ass but what about the rest ofthe team ? Manning didnt lose that game. The silly penalities did , the inability for any offensive players to make plays , big key plays , the defense inability tso stop CHI in key situations all buty once all game , this is what has to be corrected not Manning's play. There is no doubt that will improve but I not buying the Colts team at this point .

The line is accurate in terms of perceptionbut not reflected IMO is the true value of the COlts at this time.

Sport amazing W/U, thank you for that.

Your highlighted point is what I wanted to touch on. For as much praise as this defense has recieved this is no doubt our weakness. On that long pass from Rodgers to Jennings. Thats a play where you define winners and losers. Gordon was on him like flies on shit, Jennings just wanted more.

Sport you touched on the lack of Indy to make plays where Chicago did...Forte Td, fumble return td......Minnesota in the T-jack era hasn't made the big plays to win games, sure the SD game last year, as well as the Giants game but besides that we just don't make the big plays in big games to win them.

The key for Minnesota against Indy are 3 things.
1.) get a effective pass rush on Peyton from play 1
2.) start out hot
3.) Can't get behind by more than a TD.

I have watched this team play many times from behind, and we just can't get it done when we are trailing. I texted a buddy of mine when T-Jack got the ball in his hands with 2 minutes left, and "asked him what are the chances" needless to say neither of us had confidence.

Thanks Marlo .

I agree with you . Again though I think a flaw is asking T-Jack to win the game rather then just not lose it . Same with peyton even if he plays great whats the defense gonna do are the silly penalities on special teams going to cease ? You can still win w/o good QB play and you can lose with great QB play . Like baseball to many times people hyperfocus on the SP rather then the teams playing . Its not Manning vs T-Jack it the Colts @ Vikes .......

It just gets easier for a team coming home then traveling . We can also point out Indy was -10 pt favs and lead once by 3 pts the entire game . Which was short lived . They probably had a lead for 2 minutes out of 48 . That says something to me.....

For Indy the running game will be to much I think . Chi was very vanilla in there game plan and still they couldnt stop the Bears offense at crucial times . Third and 6 CHI elects to run it and gets a 50 yd TD ? Really ? That should never happen . One great hidden aspect of the value of home field vs playing away is that the lesser the talent the more it means . Guys who are very good ballplayers regardless of sport can play well close to there peak level whereever they go. In a sense thats what makes them great . Where as medicore or avg players always have greater gaps in production home v away . So Manning will probably not care less about a road game but a guy like T-Jack has a tremendous increase in his likelyhood to succeed , play well however you want to phrase when he is home compared to traveling .....very key IMO.....

Playing from behind is a great point but who is to say that even if Indy scores 1st goes up 7-0 that Indys defense on the road will be able to keep Minny off the board even 3 is an answer . Vikes had some momentum late in that game moving the ball I thought ...

If your gonna tell me the VIKES plan on asking TJack to win this game and beat INDY then I will agree its a tough road but not sure how anyone would ask that .

Green Bay @ Detroit

Baltimore @ Houston

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay

All include first year starters, with there first true road experience. Flacco, Ryan, & Rodgers all performed well at home. Now lets see what they are made of on the road.

I feel we will see some mishaps with these guys on the road. It will be quite different for all of them when the crowd is actually making noise when there on offense.

Seattle is a tough place to play. What besides that Seattle is missing every WR they have, as well as Maurice Morris....that intrigues you about SF?

Colts starting DT arrested on drug charge
Bust of Johnson is another blow to team reeling after opening loss to Bears

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Colts starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested early Wednesday on a drug possession charge.
Colts president Bill Polian said the team was still gathering facts about the case before determining how it will discipline Johnson, but Johnson will not play Sunday at Minnesota.
“He will not play this week, for sure,” coach Tony Dungy said.
Polian said Johnson was stopped for speeding between midnight and 1 a.m. on Interstate 465 just north of Indianapolis. Police also charged him with marijuana possession.
He later was released on bond from the Hamilton County Jail.
Johnson was temporarily expelled from Penn State in 2005 for violating the school policy on sexual misconduct and confining another student against the student’s will. He was reinstated in 2006, but later suspended for the Outback Bowl for violating team rules.
Once considered a first-day draft prospect, the big defensive tackle went undrafted in 2007 draft.
“We had a talk with him and I thought he was going in the right direction,” Dungy said last summer when Johnson was trying to make the team. “He has to understand the environment he’s coming into and what we expect from him.”
Johnson’s past indiscretions could also have an impact on whether the league takes action.
“As in any other incident of this nature, it will be reviewed under the league’s substance abuse policy,” league spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press. “A player’s prior history can be considered in evaluating potential discipline under the program.”
The 6-foot-2, 296-pound Johnson was the biggest surprise in training camp last year. He took advantage of an injury-depleted defensive line to start all 16 games, finishing with 63 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
The Colts (0-1) had even bigger expectations for Johnson this year, but Wednesday’s arrest has the Colts reassessing those plans.
Johnson was not in the locker room Wednesday to answer questions.
The arrest couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Colts. They allowed Chicago to run for 153 yards and average 4.7 yards per carry in a season-opening 29-13 loss and now face back-to-back games against two of the NFL’s best running tandems: Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor, and Jacksonville’s Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew.
One option for Dungy is moving 274-pound defensive end Raheem Brock inside, where he was the starter last season. Second-year player Keyunta Dawson is the other starter. They also could use their most experienced tackle, Darrell Reid, in the lineup.
The only other tackles on the active roster are Eric Foster, an undrafted rookie, and Daniel Muir, who was claimed off waivers last week from Green Bay.
It’s the third legal incident involving a Colts player since April. Police charged running back Kenton Keith with criminal trespassing after refusing to leave the parking lot of a nightclub. He has since been cut.
Perennial Pro Bowl receiver Marvin Harrison was interviewed by police about a shooting near his North Philadelphia car wash in the spring. He wasn’t charged.

I'll write it up before Sunday.. Seattle is a tough place to play when you have better players than the team you are playing. Don't think that is the case any more in this series.. I liked the Bills last week not because of what the Bills brought but because Seattle has huge problems. Don't think those problems get solved in one week. Again I'll write it up and this is all just my opinion.. I could be wrong. Probably my play of the week though.

If you get a chance, watch the 9ers v. Cardinals from last week.. 9ers really got after Warner and were in position to control the game.. Then Ariz went no huddle and Warner started to pick them apart.. That is something Seattle cannot do right now.. If the 9ers defense gets a predictable vanilla offense (and that is what Seattle is right now) I think they will have a great deal of success.. And then you will see a lot of Gore.. A TD+ line is very good wiggle room also but I would even endorse and might play a 9ers ML bet..

GL this week bro.. Think you are on to some good stuff.

Thanks for the response Tee.
Trying to get a good discussion going here during the week.

I agree with your points. My first initial lean was to Seattle, and there famous 12th man field. I know Seattle is one of the loudest places in the NFL to play for opposing teams. But your right, The Niners have a solid D, and the Seahawks are a team that has a ton of questions. I wrote about, as did you in the Buffalo/Seattle about Seattle's weaknesses. I read earlier in the week that HAsselbacks back is worse than reported and with Burleson down, and Morris out for 4 weeks, I just can't see Jones running all over SF defense. I think a Touchdown here is a ton, for where these two teams are at....and i also believe now that its there because of where this game is at.

Niners need a big day out of Gore, and for there offense to limit there mistakes. I have confidence that the Seattle offense will be stagnant to say the least.

Seattles offense may be inept but i believe their defense steps it up and levels the playing field. I see the niners losing by three or so, just think Seattle pulls of the win but not the cover.

played SF at 8 already..

Leans:

Rams

vikings

Tee- Love the Rams this weekend. This is the best play on the board for a rebound home team play. I hope the line continues to climb.

I like Minny as well, Peyton wont be Peyton for a few more weeks and Minny defense is stout.

no discussion on GB vs Det?
altho it is young QB in first road start, and Detroit's home opener after a bad loss,
I cannot see Detroit stopping GB at all....

I agree, how does Detroit win? They cant run and Green Bays corners are far better than the Falcons. But Aaron could struggle on the road and Ryan Grant is hurt. Brandon Jackson can not carry the load and with no running game you can pressure the qb all day...Fishy line so no play for me.....

Just putting in random stats here

Redskins are 6-11-1 ATS as a home favorite the last 3 years.

Raiders are 7-2 ATS vs the Chiefs at Kansas City the last 9 years.

The Green Bay corners are the two most overrated corners in the league.

The last time I seen Al Harris (prior to AD running him over on MNF) Plaxico Burress was running by, around and through him.

Woodson is average to good.

For me its Det or pass. Yo cant buy into week 1 for Det . It was the perfect storm as DET was of a flawless preseason looked like they were gonna finally gel and playing an ATL team no one had faith in and boom you look it up its 21-0 ATL .

Who knew ball game fellas. I said it before and I'll say it again the NFL will be like MLB as HOME FIELD will be tremendous this year . So judsing a team on a road performance when its home I dont think will be good and vice versa...

GB played well but winnin on the road is the next step and I think again GB made the plays when it had its not as easy to in a hostile enviroment .

I know DET is nowhere near as bad as week 1 shit happens .....

Again how can GB not even lay -3 at home then lay -3 away ....and I know there isnt a 6,7 pt spread difference bewteen Minny and Det ...

being eyeing DET all along...

Oh and look at home pups in week 1 ...:shake:

Due to Griese in for Garcia... line is moving accordingly....

Saw 8 earlier... then 7.5 around early evening..... now down to 7.

If you like atlanta snag them now, hopefully you can still find 7.5 on your book

Actually still like TB here .....

For Colts they released a starter on defense and Dallas Clark looks doubtful....
