Does anyone know where this line started? Has it gone down? I don't know why I haven't bothered to notice this before, but Nebraska should be an easy 3 TD+ win here over LT. I'll be looking a little closer at this . . . .

-23 is what bet on sports opened at. seems to still be going down.

Sooner,

This spread opened -20 @ Pinnacle; I know that for a fact, because that's where I locked it in; line went up to 21, then slid back a little...which seemed to coincide with CB Bowman's injury and the two defections. Out of the four games I posted, I think this one is probably my favorite; a little leery about laying too much chalk, until I see how the new rules affect the game.

horses, I can't believe this is under 3 TDs even with the new rules. LT brings back only 2 defensive starters and has to break in a new QB in Lincoln, NE against a solid Nebraska defense! With all the hype surrounding the Husker squad this season, I look for Callahan to do all he can to verify it. This SHOULD be the Husker's best season ever under Callahan with his recruits and offensive scheme "ripening" this year.

I'm about ready to pounce . . . . .

You know, a lot of the judgement on this play comes down to this question: "Can Louisiana Tech's defense stop the Nebraska offense at all?" Nebraska has the best receiving corps they probably have ever had in their history and a veteran QB that is capable of getting them the ball. The huskers WRs alone are taller and stronger than any defenders in the LT backfield. We are all familiar with the fact that Nebraska's offensivel line is usually solid year in and year out (they were down a bit last year, but return 4 out of 5 players that had starting experience last season.) Their RB's are not going to be any worse than last year. So, will LT's defense be able to stop them?

I think Nebraska can just about name the number here and I look for Callahan to shoot for over 50 points in the home opener.

If anyone gets info on Louisiana Tech's camp news, please post it here. The ESPN Insider doesn't cover the "lesser" schools as much in their "site news."

Tech's offensive strength this year is suppose to be their running game, but this report takes a bit of wind out the sails in that area:

Tech's Griffin goes down RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head coach Jack Bicknell was visibly frustrated following Wednesday night’s workouts after watching two of his touted freshmen running backs sit on the sidelines due to injuries.

First year tailbacks William Griffin and Myke Compton both missed the majority of the two-hour session due to injury leaving only sophomore Patrick Jackson, freshman Daniel Porter and walk-on Ja’Mal Titus to carry the load in the Bulldog backfield.

“It’s tough,” Bicknell said. “Here I’ve been extremely excited about seeing what these guys can do, and now they are hurt. It’s critical for them to get reps out here so they can learn what they are doing and we can evaluate them.”

Compton didn’t dress for Wednesday night’s session but said he expects to be back in a few days while Griffin went down early during the night’s workout and didn’t return. Griffin’s undisclosed injury could sideline him for at least a few weeks.

“I got to see plenty of Daniel Porter,” Bicknell said. “I thought he did a good job but we need to get these other guys healthy.”

Bicknell had already moved Tech’s two leading rushers from last year to other positions as Mark Dillard is practicing at safety while Freddie Franklin is at wide receiver.

“I know I can move Freddie back and he could be ready to play (running back) in just a few days,” Bicknell said. “However, we want to get him work at receiver.”

Tech is scheduled to resume workouts Thursday night at 6:45 p.m.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial]RUSTON – Following practice Monday morning Louisiana Tech coach Jack Bicknell announced following that freshman Dennis Morris has been moved to defensive end after working his first week of camp at outside linebacker.

Morris, a true freshman from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, was moved for a number of reasons according to Bicknell.

“I really think his natural position is going to be defensive end in the long run,” Bicknell said. “He’s already 260 pounds and will only get bigger and stronger. He’s got a quick first step, plus we need him at defensive end right now.”

Morris’ move came only three days after junior defensive end Jared Parten suffered a season-ending injury leaving the Bulldogs thin at the position.

“He was a high energy, very intense player,” Bicknell said. “We are going to apply for a medical red-shirt for him. We’ll just have to see.”

Bicknell also said that sophomore offensive lineman Bill Jones has moved up the depth chart and is running with the first team at right tackle, moving junior Ryan Considine inside to right guard and replacing senior Marcus Lindsey for the time being in the starting lineup.

“Marcus is in a battle right now,” Bicknell said. “We have six guys who are really competing for those top five spots. I think Ryan’s natural position is at guard but it’s all a matter of if Bill can get things down. I feel good about all six guys.”

Tech will practice Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. in preparation for the Bulldogs lone scrimmage of the fall which is set for Saturday at 9 a.m.

Nebraska is a great play here. Hoping to get 20.5/21 on Friday when I lock this is along with NW, and Iowa St.

dont underestimate La Tech guys. This is no cakewalk, La Tech is in the better half of division 1 teams unless you think Nebraska is just primed to lay a whooping here I would like bulldogs +21

They had a good season last year in a weak conference, Nick. I know you're a big WAC fan, but a team from the WAC bringing back only two starters on defense and breaking in a new QB will not even be noticed in this game at Nebraska.

Right now you can get 20.5 at +102 at Pinnacle!!

You only have to pay -117 to get -19!! What's going on here? Am I missing something? Horn, have you looked into this one?

WAC wasnt a weak conference last year it obviously has a big seperation between the "have's" and the "have not's" but La Tech has consistently been a solid program like I said unless you are convinced nebraska is a juggernaut no reason to lay that chalk.

this year WAC should absolutly be better top to bottom as well.

La Tech lost in the Swamp 41-3 to open last season with a better squad; while La Tech should be fine in WAC play with that running game, I don't care how good their OL is or how many returning starters they may have up front, they won't be able to run the ball on Nebraska. The fun will start on 3rd and long; I think Tech may come out and play some inspired defense to begin the game, but they will be worn down as the game goesw on. Good info Sooner..

I hate to say it, but I like La. Tech too...could see this one steamed up to 24 before kickoff and it'll be hard not to take them...

Den, I hit NU first day Pinny lines were out at the same number horses did. This one will be a 41-14 kinda game IMO. I will have a write-up soon on it.

If you want to do another joint write-up just let me know and I'll take one side or the other here.

Looking forward to it Al... I think this is one of the stronest chalk plays... along with Pitt and Houston, and possibly FLA in the swamp.

LA TECH has been a very solid school... we all know this... but the line comes out around 20 when everyone's last impression of LA TECH was then rolling into Fresno (who at the time had almost recently defeated the almighty USC). This screams that the books don't have faith in LA Tech's abilities and are begging you to take them and it looks like some people are. That game last year in the swamp says it all... and that was against a Florida team basically practicing the spread offense... Nebraska is now settled in to their West Coast system in the 3rd year of Callahan and has 7 starters back on one of the better defenses in the country. LA Tech will not be able to stop Taylor and Swift/Nunn.

believe me inspekdah the books don't have this line a little low because everybody remembers LA tech beating fresno. Everybody and their uncle is on nebraska here and would be no matter what the chalk was. I give LA tech a chance to keep it close most of the game as nebraska pulls away and the spread is a coin flip.

LA tech is a real football team with real D-1 athletes guys this isnt a cakewalk!! Parody already rearing it's head more and more in D-1 athletics as the scholarship rules balance out the power.

Would you want Bill Callahan -21 to anybody??? Hell, id just be happy to not find a way to lose if that guy were my coach.

When I saw the line at first I thought LA Tech was the play (2 weeks ago) after seeing them win 5/6 last year to end the season. All signs to me point to regression this year... and especially on defense... week 1 on the road. I also don't think they can backdoor as their offense will struggle all game... once Nebraska takes the lead by 2 or more scores LAT should play right into our hands and try to move the ball through the air... and hopefully make it much worse.

What about this team's changes from last season look appealing? The only reason they had a winning record last season with their experienced defense, and senior QB was a nice positive T/O disparity... but now with so much inexperience you cannot expect them to get the better of that battle again this season.

Not the last two years I wouldn't, but he has his own recruits on hand now and they are in the third year of his schemes. They are primed to go off this season!

Nick, if "everybody and their uncle" is on Nebraska, then why is this line continuing to go down in their favor??

Well thats the question you better be sure about, that this is a different nebraska team that will absolutly come out firing. to win by more than 3 TD's a lot has to go right or the game has to be completely uncompetitive as you all know.

To me the line is dropping from what I see. BOS posted nebraska -23 (not sure how important that is, they had very small limits) and here in vegas its been either -21 or -20.5 depending on where you go. We'll see how it moves.

That's what I mean, if everyone was on Nebraska, this line would be going up, not down.

nah the % of bets can be on nebraska. I have no clue how offshore books work but here in vegas limit bets are ALL that moves the line. Even if the limit is 500 that will move the line or if its 6,000, it takes a $6,000 bet to move it. So everybody could be on nebraska but theres some asshole out there putting a limit LA tech at every casino this could happen. Definitly shit like that happens way more in college than pro.

have to agree also with Fazekas's points here as I think La. Tech will do a lot better than the public thinks they will...I have upgraded him from just a Nevada homer to an overall WAC homer...he is moving up in my eyes though...

LA Tech will put one of the nation's most inexperienced... and at best average talented defenses on the road... and then rely on a running attack against Nebraska ... I just see this one getting ugly if they fall down 10-0 in the 1st half... b/c they really don't have the ability to get back in the game... especially in one of the most hostile environments most of these players have ever seen.
