Their defense was easy pickings for the top 100 QBs during that final few seconds. It took a lot of work to not get into field goal range there.

By the way I've been in football denial with ISU's slide so when I looked at the schedule today and saw #20 by Iowa it was a massive WTF moment

how big of a turkey for 6-8 people
14 pound? deep frying
Sounds about right

Highly recommend rotisserie over deep fried though. So tough to keep turkey from just being dry and that was the one that worked over the others. Deep fried got dry just like baking.

I believe it but I'm at a commune with a bunch of rednecks (salt of the earth) and we see frying as an inescapable novelty. if I can contribute an appropriately-sized bird it's gonna win me a big gold star

I said at the time you'd be hard pressed to find a more resilient win by a team. Still holds true, 1A and 1B given what we saw today.

From a national angle Indiana is still very much the flavor of the day while Bama is "supposed" to win games like that. You can do the math from there.

How do you do fried turkey differently than frying it?
They make fryers specifically for Turkey.
It’s not that difficult. Well fry 15 birds and Cornish hens.
I’m not saying I’m the master at it but I’ve never heard of one person not liking fried turkey better they just didn’t have the turkey fryers or feel like doing it

Hmm

Maybe need to run to a place that does it right this year

It simply was dry when we did it and never went back. The rotisserie has always been so good

looks like rural king has them 😀 in stock!
When I moved to AZ in 1998 and we didn't know anyone, Xmas day was fun. Apparently Mexican places do tamales as a tradition and I've never had better tamales in my life. Not like it was easy finding an open restaurant but pretty cool thing

Popeyes used to fry em for you down here if you brought them the bird for a few bucks back in the old days.

they do. tamales make a great xmas gift, too. little old ladies, despite their size, can make a TON of tamales

Oh yes from that point forward we bought tamales from locals which was awesome

Then we either adopted or became adoptees to family Xmas dinner (involving drinking profusely and caroling in the neighborhood) so it went away but that was pretty cool and I had no clue tamales were a thing on Christmas.

the key is not to put them frozen in the hot oil (according to youtube videos)
