do we know who the Ump is?

Sox offense hasn't been cold despite their SU woes - 6, 8, 6 & 5 run totals their last 4 games (Konerko actually on fire, which makes a huge difference).

Tigers with 4, 7, 6, 4 & 7 run totals to end the season, & 7, 8, 4, 17, 5, 3 & 5 run totals their last 7 road games.

Meetings since AS break in Chicago - 18, 6, 11, 6 & 18 run games.

Tigers pitching shoddy at best, if Detroit puts up any contest at all it'll be because they actually bother to score a few, while in games like this the desperate team never stops trying to score even if up 5-0/6-1 because they don't feel comfortable until the margin is pathetically big.

i dont think detroit has cared for the last few monthes

:36_11_6:

They need to bring in a dominant ace SP, that can go 7+ day in, day out.

a CC or a cliff lee or webb or somethin to that extent.

and a closer. obviously.
zumaya if he can stay healthy (damn guitar hero!) is a good setup man, not a good closer though.

think of it this way though, as dissapointing of a season it was, with all the expectations we had of them......

AT LEAST TODD JONES IS OFFICIALLY RETIRED:cheers:
thats gotta be a plus!

hmmm good points BC

maybe chicago and over parlay, looks tasty for tomorrows situation

you are right detroit could give up the total themselves...

Im taking the day off to watch this. I told counselor in a PM Twins would be representing the AL Central but its our's to lose right now from the looks of it. We beat this Detroit team (who unless we said something bad about someone's mom) should not show up. We do that we get to play Minny at home, the only place this Sox team is good.

If we get to the playoffs we won't do anything. Least I can't see it. If the twins get there I give them a better shot because they know how to play real baseball.

now decided how to go about playing the white sox... total is 10 so just in case detroit shows no urgency at the plate not trying to get screwed on an over

ChiSox RL...

and Chisox/Pitt Steelers ML parlay + 114

Wanted to play pitt all week but not lay the 5 points as it should be a very close, defensive-minded game.

would much rather see chicago in the postseason over minny jsut because theyre a fun team to watch and enjoy watching them hit the longball, plus they were a great RL play and came through alot around the time of the AS break when they were hot

this is my tribute for them coming through clutch ALOT! go chisox!!!

may even play the -2.5.... this is going to be an emotional, powerful, ass-whooping tomorrow

this is a detroit team thats hitting .222 in last 10 games against rhp... and .251 on the road, overall.

and who the fuck is freddy garcia anyways. he got lit up against the royals.

while floyd's day split ERA in not great, he's still 8-1 in those games... so hes obviously gettin the run support

if chicago wins then the one-game playoff is IN chicago, right?

man that one-game playoff was CRAZY last year.... with fogg against peavy and hoffman blowing it

i remember holding a colorado ticket and thinking "im the luckiest motherfucker ever"

probably the best game of the MLB season last year lets hope we can get one that good on tuesday

I'd love to se the WS make it. If the Tampa series price was then stomachable, I'd make a rare for me futures play (I'd still look at the Tampa series price vs Minny, but the WS playing so many games in a row & being so up & down mentally/emotionally and then having 1 day off before Tampa, killer stuff. Minny avoiding a playoff Tuesday gets decent rest before Tampa).

GOTTA LOVE MLB.

They put the biggest homer umpire in the league behind the plate today for the White Sox.

DiMuro is 25-7 for the home side.

besides detroit slugging the ball, i just cant see them winning this game. Their bullpen is so bad that i have not bet them since AS break. I'm going to take the sox ml here as i strongly believe that detroit wins this game and in this situation less then 30% of the time.

Konerko stated yesterday something like... I know it must be kind of a drag getting on a plane to play a game that doesnt matter, but if i were them, i would make sure they hurt. We're not taking it lightly tomorrow...

Like BC said, they are going to try to lay a whoop ass. Even if CHI is down, their chances to rally back or detroit's pen sucking are huge. I like my chances either way..

detroit's lineup is horseshit after the first 4 batters.. If floyd can pitch around them or neutralize them, detroit will have issues getting on the board.

I dont see it the same as some of you guys .

As far as the UMP MLB didnt do anything . DiMauro was the 1st UMP in yesterday's game only seems logical that crew would stay and do the game . So isnt that the proper UMP rotation ?????

Second is DiMauro isnt so much of a "HOMER" Ump and I have said this before on the board . When guys have huge bias you have to check and see why that may occur. Well first thing is the huge amount of home chalk DiMauro has done .

He is 23-5 with HOME CHALK and 2-2 with Home Pups ...Not many UMPs have less then 55% records with home chalk if you search around. So his is extreme but you have to look at the matchups to see if there is some sort of home bias. Home teams laying -150 winning isnt much of a shock is it ?? Cause he is 12-1 with home favs laying -141 or better......

Now simply based on the SP matchups and each teams 2008 home and away performance tell what is actually SUPRISING about the results ??? I see stud SP after stud SP at home usually against an inferior SP .....and some very good home teams when there wasnt a STUD SP.....

So I honestly think you people are making something out of mothing . He so called BIAS is simply representative of the games he calls .

The CONTINUED NOTION that UMPS have this great INFLUENCE over outcomes is wrong . I played baseball all my life and of course there are days and games the UMP mattters to much but your talking such a small percentage . Shortline and Mikesy along with CKR have done well in implementing the UMPS into strategic capping but ever stat has to be understood and identified before labeling it something of note . Thats why Shortline data is so indepth . He digs much deeper then the surface......

Just a quick glimpse shows probably 15 home wins you can pick rather easily using SP matchups or home vs away play ....

Last on the Tigers lineup ....

Disagree its weak after the 4 hole .....

Thames classic slugger ...though in a parttime role usually vs LHP in recent years this year his avg was better vs RHP then LHP by about 15 points ....L3 years 69hrs in 920 ABS.....very impressive IMO but a slugger none the less....

Raburn low BAA but 7-14 career vs Floyd isnt such a bad thing or his 283 career avg vs WSox.....also 342 2hrs 19rbi lifetime @ US Cellular

Inge has been a black hole this year but would day the WSox have a similiar bat in there lineup in Uribe although he is hitting 9th .

Dusty Ryan cant say I am well informed but he is a big dude aat 6'4 and seems to have made it to the majors because he can hit . This Sept 317 shows he has done well at bat .....He has started 13 games and 11 of them the opponent scored at least 5 runs ....also 4-20 day and 9-21 at night but this just might be a night game....

Santiago would actually prefer over Renteria . Santiago 6-18 last few games with 3 Hrs ......

Now granted there isnt much name recognition with these guys but dont see other Inge as anyone would I wouldnt feel confident could get hit .....

Carlos Guillen has been hurt all Sept so his absence is expected , Polanco is a solid player but I guess the weakest statisical part of his resume is his day / night splits with only a 680 day OPS.....so not a huge loss and nice PH option to have...well he hasnt played because of his ankle either the past few days so suprise really either ...those are really the 2 missing bats .....

Overall my feeling is this ........

Det doesnt want to be in Chicago but they havent quit as they just took 3 of 4 from TB and lost in extra innings while not using any key relievers . Of course TB was on cruise control but looking at there starting lineups they played some good players every game and the first few in the series had some significance....

Over the season Floyd has slowly regressed after the 1st 2 months . He pitched on short rest 9-20 @ KC with a lackluster outing . Most of the time the guys who succeed on short rest are power pitchers or crafty LHPs. In 2007 he was soldi @ texas on short resting after a long relief outing going 6inn 3runs. In 2006 he started home vs MIL on short rest and did not fare well going 4+ allowing 9 hits and 6 runs......

Basically I think the line is to high . Granted DET motivation is questionable , granted Freddy Garcia has been both good and terrible in 2 turns making him an unknown , granted its a playoff game ......all that I would stink -180 is more then fair in this game . I think Folyd was about -140ish when opposing Nate Robertson in his recnt turn vs DET and cant see a rehabbing Garcia as 70 cents worse then him......

Wsox lineup in Sept ......
Cabrera nice 343 avg past month but only 1 hr and 5 rbi
Konerko has hity 9Hrs since his return
Uribe has had a very solid month with a 290 clip and 2 Hrs
Dye 257 2hrs 12 rbi feeling Quentins absence ?
Jr 242 2hrs
AJ 232 1hr 6rbi
Wise 228 4hr 11 rbi
Thome 225 5hrs 12 rbi
Ramirez 214 5hrs 14rbi (huge dropooff)

Just 97 RBI for them last 30 days ......

So looking taking DET +1.5 RL and have played DET over 4 runs TT ...last 13 or 14 DET has Not score 4 in 3 games and WSOX have not allowed in 4 games ....H2H 6 of 8 games since the break DET has scored at least 4 runs vs Chicago....also 8 of 11 since June when they meet......

Floyds L13 starts at home since May ended has seen the opponent score at least 4 runs in 11 of them....as well as 15 of 21 overall since May ended which he had a nice little run to close August which he didnt for 3 starts ...

Guess I will make decision on the play ML or RL or 1st 5 inn ML and total as game time draws near .....

No fans will be at this game taking the energy out of it and probably giving DET an edge in that sense because they will be relaxed and maybe even comfortable ......also long rain delays seem to have lead to unders this year from what I recall....

:cheers:BOL all

i don't know why you would think no fans will be at the game?? the price is definately inflated but i think it is warranted. i get the feeling garcia has a soft spot for the sox and won't feel too bad about getting knocked around. detroit bullpen is worse than the sox right now which is tough to do. dye is heating up, konerko is hot as hell (and he slams garcia), detroit must be pist off about this rain delay because i fucking know they don't want to be here any longer than they have to. garcia's wife is gonna be pist off if he knocks the sox out. call me a fuckin homer but i laid -1.5 and if the sox don't win im gonna fuckin break someone's nose. im fuckin serious about baseball man... fuck those cuntbag twins. who the fuck is a twins fan? homosexuals? transvestites? its a bunch of fuckin weirdo's who live in minnesota.

SN, you got burned betting against a chicago team last night.... you know that stung brotha. i hammered bears +3, ML +150, and a teaser bears +9/ under 45 (the under was a god damn miracle though)

i personally think the sox could advance in the playoffs as well.
1. the chicago white sox OWN the tampa bay rays, and i dont give a shit if they are better this year.
2. TB is tight but they regressed and i still think they are not elite.
3. angels and bosox will be bashing each other and will probably be worn out after their series which benefits the sox if they make it that far.

With you on the Tigers +1.5 SN...I think that the team which had so much expectations coming into this year actually puts up a good fight. GL Bud.

True. Only because I overthought it and not because I liked Philly . Huge gaffe on my part . Philly stinks said every step of the way this season I guess people actually bought into that terrible game vs the Steelers last weekend. It was obvious the Steelers were never going to score in the 2nd H from watching the end of the 1st H. So no Westbrook and banged up McNabb and there was a good market for Philly -3 ......Simply dont get that wont ever get it and well it cost me a huge night because it fucked up my head up. Had the total called perfectly 1st Q over , 1st H over and 2nd H under but didnt touch the game after the 1st H aggravation....played Philly 1st H and had Philly middled -2.5 against most of my original Bears +3.5 play ......

Shit happens .........

I just cant see the value in the price on the WSox here ....I really dont care who wins if they had Quentin I would be rooting WSox . Said all year the Twins are not a good team and there rotation is pitching as good as it possible can .....so if WS wins sucks for them in a sense because they will have to play 3 straight elimination games then start a playoff series .....TB will have a huge edge on them. because of that ...

BOL Jimbo and GL2us HereWeGo.....

Just have +1.5 DET and Over 4 runs DET TT as I was sidetracked as usual responding to various posts in the forum(outside of this one ).....BOL all

GOTTA LOVE MLB.

They put the biggest homer umpire in the league behind the plate today for the White Sox.

DiMuro is 25-7 for the home side.

This guy is fucking BRUTAL...

Calls Sheff out on a ball that was a foot off the plate, and doesn't ring Thome up on an obvious strike...These are just two examples. It's ridiculous

does anyone know where a good site is that shows like ending prices and lines that they close at.. so i can check a ML price from over the weekend in ncaaff and see what the MLB agme today totaled clsoed at?

If the ump was in on it, he would've rung up Granderson just now in the 5th with that outside fast ball.

barmeezee, try scoresandodds.com

click on the calender for the date you need and it should have it.

There's no excuse for not getting that run in...

I hate Ozzie Guillen, hated him as a player and hate him as a manager.

My god, this is off topic, but how bad is major league pitching? Kyle Lohse signed a 4 year, $41 million deal with full no trade clause.

Yes, he had a solid year this year, but holy shit, having had to suffer through his starts in Minnesota, what a horrible signing. I'd be really surprised if he gets 40 wins over the live of this contract.
