Michigan vs. Alabama Discussion Thread

Stupid line. Looking forward to making a lot of cash.
You think michigan rolls ? ...sense i get is that Harbaugh and Michigan fans feel this team is their best in Harbaugh Era and primed to atone on 3rd time in playoff and yet I'm sitting here thinking this team isn't any better

Imo
Michigan beat a better iowa team 2 years ago 42 to 3 In indy....the offensive line seems to have lot of dudes but somehow has regressed....the defense let a bad ohio state oline and horrid Penn state run game have success running...Ohio state had guys wide open all day long.

Only area of improvement I see is efficiency in pass game but there is 0 deep elements and that is where bama has been vulnerable

Now Bama is not vintage Bama. But they did a fine job yesterday controlling the line of scrimmage.

I'm not playing anything yet. Never do this early. Too many things can happen in a month especially with the ncaa investigation not over. Just think it's a bad line. I'll continue to wait while it keeps moving in my favor. Which it will.

You trust your eyes. I trust mine. I don't disagree with some things you said, just waiting on things. Will post thoughts closer to game

Mich will have to play way better on O than they did last night. Couldn't get 3rd and 2, couldn't catch the ball, was ugly all night.

I’ll say this. Every Alabama fan should be lining up to Hugh Freeze’s favorite charity.

If it weren’t for a rush 2 on a 4th and 31 AND still allowing a single covered receiver to catch a pass…we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.

Milroe’s strength is the 20+ pass throws and Hugh just let him take his time to look for a receiver knowing his strength is throwing deep (beside his legs).

But this is a perfect example of how horrifically coaches games lose teams games consistently. Credit to Bama for making the plays though for sure

What would we line this year's michigan team vs the 2021 michigan team that lost to georgia ?

What would we line this year's bama team vs bama in 21 that lost to georgia in the natty ?

opening line is about right - should be 2/2' - arguably higher
>> SP+ has this at Michigan -8'

As stated, if you like Michigan I would wait till kickoff - if Bama I (think) I would wait and see if it climbs over 3

Looking back forgot bama was super inconsistent that year.....then won sec as huge dogs vs georgia and had them on ropes in natty

Thats shows me Saban has proven he can get his teams to raise their level of play in championship formats....Harbaugh has not...0 for what in bowls vs top 10 teams ? Going back to playing jimbo and fsu

Michigan doesn't have the same dudes they had on dline..no Hutchinson no ojabi...their oline isn't as dominant. Michigan's offense looks worse this year then the past 2 imo. They also carved up iowa in Iowa city last year and made parkers defense look bad.

Feels like a good match up for bama.....not sure I'm willing to put my money there yet tho as sec was so damn bad this year

Maybe michigan has another gear they can go to this year like Saban does ? The offense seems to have played down to competition at times

Forgive my ignorance but stupid how? Which way you think it off ? I thought coming into the season this was finally gonna be Michigan and harbaugh year but im not sure bout this one. One my fav sayings is I never lose any sleep/regret betting bama! And they want to give me plus money again?!!?!? Not sure I can pass that up, Not sure I see a big bet in my future but I don’t think I can bet against bama. Maybe in the ship wken they face teams I think can threaten them down the fiekd, I’m just not sure Michigan can out bama bama. They really gonna beat bama playing in a phone booth?

I absolutely love Michigan here. I agree with what some of you guys said above but Michigan is winning this game.

Might as well make Bama - 24.5 Mich sucks right?

The defense is elite. The qb will make just enough plays to get the W. Michigan is always in the right place at the right time and always make the big play. They create lots of turnovers. I know the big ten sucks overall, but I don't think the sec has been that good either.

I can totally understand why people like Bama though. Saban is the goat. Hard to go against him. Just feel it's Michigans year this year.

Oh I’m nowhere near the camp of might as well make the line hugs cause Michigan sucks. I’m more in the camp bama as a dog tough ro pass up. I thought Michigan was winning it all coming into the year. Wouidnt shock me they win here, I wouldn’t even lay -3 I don’t think, def no more. My initial thought is both defenses gonna be tough to score on but I think Milroe ability to hit the big shot plays might be the difference. Not real confident either way as of yet/,

how did UM do against rushing qbs this year? Milroe barely ran all year then against uga they called at least 5 good qb rushing plays. I thought that was the coaching difference in the sec ship

They really didn’t face any did they? Certainly not anyone close to as talented as Milroe

Doug Brumfield
Gavin Wimsatt
Athan Kaliakmanis
Katin Houser
Drew Allar
Kyle McCord
Deacon Hill
Taulia Tagovailoa
Mason Garcia
Camden Orth
Heinrich Harrberg
Tayven Jackson
Hudson Card

These are the QBs Michigan played this season. I will admit I know very little about any of them

I’ve heard of like 2.5 of them! Lol

Michigan losing top OL Zak Zinter is a big blow! Iowa was averaging 1.8 sacks per game and had 4 vs Wolvs without Zinter.
Maybe emotional letdown after Harbaugh suspension, maybe not.

Did they lose anyone else vs. Iowa?

In capping this game -- and I'll have a capping thread down the line -- I'd take very little from the game in Indianapolis.

Remember the last two years heading into Indy... I thought they would have tough games due to the letdown? I think this partially happened...

Two OL injured.

JJ was still less than 100%.

No team has had the emotional rollercoaster that these kids have.

Playing a team with no offense, as a 21.5-23.5 point spread isn't exactly the situation that conveys enthusiasm. That's especially true after gearing up for PSU and OSU in the previous 3 weeks.

Oh, Iowa is one of the most fundamentally sound defenses I've seen the last few years. I was very impressed. I had my questions pregame.

Anyways, as far as this matchup, I think this is a fascinating game and should be a classic.

Michigan will struggle against a running QB early in a game, but then usually adjusts during the Minter/McDonald era.

OL is the question. No doubt. Which is wild to even think about 6 months ago.

Thread up by the start of bowl season.

Can't wait, this will be the highest rated Rose Bowl ever.

One addendum. The Michigan players were shocked FSU got left out. It wasn't because they wanted to play anyone in particular. They were just surprised. As with anything in life, the wrong angle on a picture or just a snippet of a situation can lead to inaccurate conclusions.

Last addendum. I said I wanted one of these teams in G1 for a reason. They didn't prepare properly last year and got their teeth kicked in and ran out of time late. They need this focus.

This is a great F4 and I won't be surprised at any of them winning it all.

Texas 22 units and Michigan fandom obviously my first choices.

Alabama by 28! Just kidding guys. How Bama got here is mindblowing to be honest. Just a hunch, but if Georgia knew they were playing for a playoff berth I tend to believe they would’ve been more focused. Regardless, Bama is where they belong and will be a tough out for all the remaining teams. However, even prior to the sign stealing fiasco alot of us thought of Michigan as the best team in the country.

There will be no better/easier chance to exert their dominance than these playoffs. Milroe still has alot of growing to do above the shoulders and it seems almost impossible to assume that mistakes/turnovers wont be the deciding factor in this game. He showed us vs Auburn he’s still not quite there mentally. If the Georgia game version shows up Alabama has a real shot. My money will be on the garden variety Milroe making his 3-5 super bone headed plays when it matters most. Go Big Blue!

Get on board. We're gonna be in the minority but I am confident we are going to win money on Michigan in this game. Michigan ML all day.

I think it's a 31-20 type game. Michigan defense dominates, creates turnovers, gets short fields and make all the key plays. They'll impose their will in the second half and win going away.

People might think Michigan hasn't faced a good qb this year, but who has Bama faced besides Quinn Ewers? What happened that game? Exactly.

Don't sell Jj short. He's a big game qb and it will show this game. The oline will be fine. They have adjusted to every bad situation this year, and it ain't stopping nye.

If no one is hurt, and no shenanigans happen prior to the game I'll be on Michigan ml heavy. Biggest bet in a bowl in a long time.

I think Jayden Daniels is pretty good too

Alabama has 1 offensive turnover since October, just FYI

That is surprising. Milroe has insane upside. I thought he had put it together prior to the Iron bowl. The 2 crossing the line of scrimmage decisions are the ones that stick out to me.

I’m aware of Bama’s potential. I just feel its one of those down years the SEC hasn’t experienced in a long time and a glimpse of old school football and legitimate defense could make this playoffs different from recent years. Saban with weeks of preparation is always a very tough aspect to wager against. Should be fun!

Yes the over the lines were terrible, especially because he could have walked into the EZ on the first one, and would’ve made it 4th and goal from no worse than the 15 on the second one. Despite being as fast as he is, he’s not a great natural runner, and he often doesn’t take the easy play. But with the way our defense has been playing, I’m much more ok with taking a bad sack or whatever than a bad INT like the ones he threw against Texas

Georgia d is good but not Michigan, Iowa, psu or tosu good imo.

Texas d is in the same league as GA for defense imo.
I think there’s a pretty good chance that Michigan has the 2nd best defense in the Rose Bowl

Haven’t figured out how I want to approach this one yet. No doubt Michigan will pose a great challenge to our offense. But likewise, this will be a defense unlike any Michigan has seen either. Especially considering we should be fully healthy for the first time since September. Gonna be a fun one

It's a fun debate and I look forward to all the discussions and shit talking. I've always respected your opinion on Bama and SEC in general. Hoping it's a clean, injury free great game at the grandaddy of them all.

I think at this point in the season you go by your eyes and what you trust. We've seen these teams a lot this year and most numbers or stats aren't going to change anyone's opinion of either team at this point of the season.

Just personally think this is the toughest team Harbaugh has had mentally and they just find ways to win. Whether it's ugly or pretty. And without their coach for 6 games including all of November. I hope all that noise is behind them for a bit and they can just focus on ball. Just a special team imo. I'm not really one to be high on Michigan but am very bullish on them this year. Can't wait. Should be epic!

There isn't one decent dual threat qb in the entire big ten.
