Miami vs. Ole Miss Discussion Thread

I put several feeler texts out last night to see if anyone wanted to go if I could get free tickets and not one person wants to even do that. Guess they don't want to deal with the crowd but man I'm either getting old or need to meet younger friends. Haven't even tried to score tix but now I know it's not worth the effort. Tells me the brokers here are taking a massive bath on these things.

I don't thing there will be much scoring here unless it's Miami, Sooners held OM to 17 and I think the Miami defense is a much better version of OU's defense. Pretty easy to gameplan when you have a defensive front like that and an O-line as big as the Great Wall.

Ol piss hung 34 at Norman didn’t they? I don’t think anyone has held them under 24 all year. You can certainly argue Miami be the best d they faced but I just don’t think they shutting Chambliss down, think his ability to escape pressure will be huge and I do think they can tire out the canes rush to some extent. Not saying they gonna light them up by any stretch but I’d be pretty shocked if they get held under 20.

If I wasn’t 1500 miles away (or wherever it is) I’d freaking go with you!

It's like $275 now for the cheapest Peach Bowl tickets. If Miami wins tonight, I might hang out tomorrow and try to get in for cheaper closer to kickoff.

Yeah not sure what I was looking at there. LSU and Wazzu held them to 24. I still don't know the status of all the coaches leaving for LSU either. Since we know Lane has skin in the game you know he'll be somewhere doing something sneaky. I just don't see the Canes defense giving up much.

I really just wanted to find someone to split Uber/Lyft fare with because these kinds of things are never cheap even with free tickets as I'm sure we all know. Prolly diehards for both schools already tailgating out there. Not sure if stadium parking is open but there is a mall by the hockey arena next door that has to have their parking lot open. Would be a fun day other than chilly rain.

If I had a sidekick I'd love to negotiate prices tonight.

I'm guessing the whole state of Indiana is in Atlanta right now lol. Also guessing Ducks fans are saving up for Miami if they win. Top rated non-bye team would have to go cross country three weeks in a row...Miami/Atlanta/Miami to win it. I assume they just packed for three weeks and stayed South but not sure about all of that. Impossible for fans that aren't wealthy.

One of my Facebook friends (who lives in Albany also) is asking for $27,000 for 2 tickets to the natty. Is this the price if Miami is playing at home in it? Seems like a lot for decent seats.

I guess where we kinda differ is I think if Miami holds ol miss to 20-24 points that is a fantastic defensive performance, don’t think you totally shutting these guys down. It be totally on Beck and the offense if they hold ol miss to 20-24 and don’t win, they should be able to score 27+.

I normally prefer fb on tv but im all for going to games like these for the atmosphere.

Yep all about the event for me these days. Has to be enormous or my team to deal with the all the BS we didn't use to care about when younger.

Thing that hurt my enjoyment of negotiating with scalpers was the Fiesta Bowl (still at ASU) between Utah and Pitt. Got four of us tickets for $10 a pop in the lower corner. 20 mins before kickoff. Ended up a law firm owned 50 seats in that section and all tickets were stolen (ours included) and reissued. Not sure if we'd have even gotten through the gate today but that night the usher who told us could have punted us for having stolen tickets. Instead he just said to go find a place to stand and watch the game which we did but that sucked.

That’s fucked up, yea pretty sure these days you wouldn’t make it thru gate cause they have those thingys on the ticket they scan

I can't think of anything outside of a trip to the South Pacific or the moon that I'd pay 14k for. Came into play when the Cards went to the SB and then after the game I felt so lucky to only have had a bar tab in Chandler lol. That experience would have sucked so bad regardless, but spending all of that to get emotionally destroyed sounds like something people do for weddings.

I can honestly say that game wasn't worth more than the $10 we paid to get in plus parking and dinner/drinks in Tempe. Bunch of Utes fans were pretty cool. At the time you couldn't buy alcohol at Sun Devil Stadium for college games except for the Fiesta. No beer I'd have fallen asleep. W/o looking I think Utah won 28-0. Alex Smith.

I paid $1k for two seats at PetCo when I was there with a girl. If not for her probably wouldn't have gone. Beautiful. Seats were beautiful. Spent the day taking pics downtown in that grassy knoll where Tony Gwynn is. Flowers were blooming. Stayed at the Hard Rock. Mets shut them out. deGrom 8 scoreless innings. Nice peaceful day.

A grand for a baseball game in SD? Wow. Hope you at least got to take BP

Love that stadium, love the atmosphere and pretty much my favorite city on the planet. Hard Rock right there as well. Always stay in Gaslamp or Pacific Beach depending on the occasion but we've all blown a grand on worse things than a game at Petco with a chick.

I think the over is worth a look tonight. Miami should have success against this defense, and Ole Miss will get theirs.

I lean that way also, little nervous it something like 27-23 but I def don’t think it gonna look much like canes 1st 2..

Another bs parlay cause I’m bored and want action, +4840

Ov 52.5
Chambliss ov 260 pass
Chambliss ov 25 rush
Chambliss td
Toney ov 100 rec
Fletcher td

Not sure if others have seen similar but Fuhrman's #s for the championship - Oregon -3; Indiana -5

Tickets for the final in Hard Rock.....get-in is well into 4 figures. Super Bowl prices.

I've seen 5.5 and 3.5 at Fan duel.

Now if IU is -3.5 vs Oregon, shouldn't IU either be a smidge higher vs Miami, or Oregon be a tad lower vs Miami?

Against Oregon guessing an 85 / 15 crowd split. IU, I'm thinking 60 / 40.

Indiana folks are in for the ride. Can't blame 'em really. Talked to an IU friend yesterday afternoon in Atlanta and he said the city is flooded with red.

Miami getting 3 at home doesnt seem right
I suppose it‘s not treated like a home game? The PA, music, etc will presumably be as if the Hurricanes weren‘t playing? Like how the cannon didn‘t fire for the Bucs in their Super Bowl

Oregon will sell their allotment and then some

Perks of not having games on the left coast and draining their budgets

Miami is a relatively small school and I don't see a ton of locals bucking up for it. There will be big time players there but it's still a transient city. Oregon will show up. I'm not sure Indy know how to budget for a three week run of Pasadena/Atlanta/Miami. Prolly broke as shit after tonight.

There's over 800,000 IU alums in the United States. Largest alum base in the country. Obviously, not everyone goes to all 3 (assumed) games. My 2 friends are if things transpire. Not cheap but when you've never sniffed this before you figure out the dollars.

I hope your friends are cooler than the alumnus I hold a black dagger for

Hate Indy. Hope they lose by a hundred

Point taken. My friends are good dudes. But I've heard the IU fans have been somewhat insufferable.

I'm not even sure if she knows IU are good. She was a journalism major and did campus news tv in Bloomington. Then moved to LA to try the Hollywood thing and after failing miserably at that, ended up in PHX. Went back with her to Bloomington the weekend they were hosting Purdon't in basketball but the get in price was $200/per and I wasn't willing to pay it because she wouldn't appreciate...so we ended up at an Irish pub close to campus. Got so wasted, I begged her to let me get a hotel room in Bloomington but she was steadfast on driving back to Indianapolis to her dad's house. I was so fucked up I walked into the closet (conveniently the same path to my pisser at home) and just let loose in a clothes basket.

Looking back that was one of my finest moments
