Miami vs. Indiana Discussion Thread

Get-in to the game is a little north of $3,500. Average price / ticket: $5,589.

Holy cow. Has to be the most coveted title game (CFB) ticket in history. Not sure what else would come close. I remember that the SC / Horns game was a very tough ticket but not in this stratosphere. Rose Bowl also had 30K-ish more seats.

That still doesn't explain Oregon not being able to stop them.
Ya know.

Indiana is a damn good team.

And, this isn't new news.

Yes, garbage time is big... But Indiana was simply efficient Friday night.

Two turnovers to make this 21-7 was all she wrote. Poured it on from there.

Oregon I believe gained a few more yards. Again, some garbage time helps that boxscore no doubt.

Both teams were incredible on 3rd downs.

If you just handed me that boxscore and said to guess the score...(Without seeing TDs).

31-23 would have popped in my head.

Two largest upsets in BCS championship game history:
2000 - OU over FSU laying 10.5 (Final 13-2)
2002 - Ohio State over Miami laying 11.5 (Final 31-24 2OT)

I don't remotely remember that OU/FSU game lol. Seriously drawing a blank.

The best bet on this game is wait for kickoff and bet it live after two possesions. The line wont matter then. You'll get a good read on who can cover who.

How long ago does it feel like?

Forever. Makes me pretty sad tbh. My son doesnt even want to watch em because it's just a kick in the nuts. I did take the family to our opening game in KC vs Cincy. Luckily, we pulled it out. Otherwise, nobody would probably want to go again. Our fan base deserves a lot better, I do know that.

I loved Tommy Frazier as a kid. Tell your son I went to every Tulane football game and then went and watched the Saints the next day for like 15 years in 80s/90s

That’s pain

As free agency goes in all sports everywhere I was certainly ahead of the times with my CFB loyalty. Obviously always to ISU first but bowls weren't even a thing in my lifetime until the millennium. Miami was that in the 80s then FSU in the HS years 'til '93. Going to Lincoln in '95 with OU fans for Corn/Sooners, I kinda jumped on that wagon after watching that incredible team and enjoying the atmosphere. Was so stoked when I moved here, pretty sure it was my 2nd year getting 3 front row and 5 2nd row tickets (EZ but still) in advance for what ended up being NU/Tenny the year after Tenny won the 'ship here. Limited to 8 tickets but that was a fun game. Then a couple years later going to Pasadena kinda last minute with friends for that one, not as much fun but that Miami juggernaut was insane. Now with Fred there I have to pull for the basketball team.

Not sure why but years of Big 8 beatings by both UN and OU I found it much easier to pull for Corn than the Sooners. Level of play at the time also played into it obviously.

He watches games when I watch, but if I'm not home, he doesnt turn it on. He'd rather play Minecraft or whatever.

I would theorize two reasons. OU cheated like crazy and their coach was insanely cocky while ours preferred to never say a word.

Would love to hear thoughts on were this line closes at kick...........my guess is 7 and POSSIBLY lower...........I am just starting to see all the sharpie talking heads preaching the "line is over-inflated" angle and backing the U....

I am sticking with my gut...Miami is not discipline enough and coaching matters

I loved watching Switzer lose his last game ever as a college coach on 1/1/89. I was kinda sad to see Holieway end his career with a loss, though.

Stop it, you are embarrassing yourself. Moore will be a top draft pick in 2027
There is virtually no chance he is getting drafted 2nd in the 2027 draft so no matter what he is costing himself a lot of money. Good luck to him I hope he proves me wrong but I just don't see it.

Needs an O line. Elite pocket QB with a little athleticism but going to a shit situation he would be worthless. As I believe Mendoza will be.

He really has very little athleticism at all.
More than Fernando so you know where I stand with that

No pocket equals no success. Dante at least can pick up a yard or two if it collapses. But the teams they would go to next draft can't create a pocket to begin with.

Going to a shit situation is a bad deal for any young QB, but it happens all the time and the elite ones make their new team better over time

It's a strange time when I don't even know who is really elite anymore. Burrow? Allen? Lamar? Trevor? Herbert?

That's just a so called who's who in the AFC that aren't playing next week.

Dare we say Darnold is elite at this point after needing a bunch of teams before success?

I think Moore and Mendoza are insanely good pocket QB with limitations when it breaks down. That rarely happened at Oregon and Indiana and will happen a bunch at the next level.

Indiana's execution and attention to detail is simply incredible. It’s the most mistake-free and buttoned-up team in the country and I can’t think of any in the past several years that come close.

- Lost one fumble this season. Since that in game one IU has ran over 900 plays and went four+months w/o another lost fumble. Crazy.
- It has a total of 8 turnovers this season
- According to PFF IU wideouts have dropped 6 of Mendoza's 350+ attempts.
- Second in the country in fewest penalty yards
- Committed 9 total defensive penalties. Nine. Flagged twice for DPI for the entire season while defending 400+ throws

I'm sure there's more. I stopped looking.

I'm tied up pretty big on IU tonight, both from the Jan 9 line at 7 and the bookend side of ML parlays. I think this game lines up very well for IU and sometimes you just roll with things and don’t overthink them. 34-17 type final.

Best of luck on your play(s).

It’s been a fun season all around. Hats off to some great contributors on this board.

Line back to -7 -120. I have not seen it at 7 since it opened.

Did it ever get to 10? If so I missed it.

Stayed at 9.5 for about 3 days and then went back to -8.5 for 3 days or so (I thought that was a meaningless #)

Then was at -7.5 again for past 2 or 3 days

Now the 7 -120

Must have taken some Miami money

Those were big lines. How many title games had bigger lines?
Not bigger but Bama was -10 vs ND in 2013. I had Bama big for me and score was 42-14. I remember settling down for a sweat and the game was never close

Thanks Frank!

You're one of the biggest cogs in this sub forum running so well.

Only thing that I noticed is Miami held its L8 opponents to 3 points 1Q. That's since week 10. Six of those were winning teams (win % greater than 50). Miami held five of those six teams scoreless in the 2Q as well. That's just info. I got no idea.

Usually in the CFP since it was introduced, a dog needed to score 31+ to win/cover. It's been years and Miami was the only team so far to win/cover as a CFP dog without scoring 31+ and did it twice this year. That means their defense is a true outlier. Anyway that's the extent of anything I found if we see it happen tonight if we don't (?) who knows
