The MAC has been my favorite conference since I was a kid ( I'm going to be 50 some how lol ).....

Right back on BOWLING GREEN again this season as the program comtinues to ascend to the top of the MAC as hoped.

Love the new format eliminating divisions
...The Falcons are my 2nd rated MAC squad behind Miami who appear to be deserving chalks with the oddsmakers . The schedule sets up nicely as they catch the Redhawks at home the last game of the season where Miami will possibly already have a spot in the championship game sewed up..

While I absolutely love that the MAC has unfathomablely able to keep the same schools since 1999 the Covid / new expedited transfer portal/NIL has changed everything. .Both negative and positive impacts differ across the board , sometimes with very little predictability. All that being said the mac will remain one of the best opportunities for successful sports bettors to make great coin.

Offense could either be really bad or shockingly decent by the time MAC play begins.
Defense might get left on the field far too long.
This number is possibly +8/-3.75 depending on how the many questions on paper are answered on the field...

Bowling Green

Last year Bowling Green scored their most points (340) since the Falcons last l MAC championship (2015). On the flip side the defense allowed their least amount of points since 2013..
The Falcons closed out the season 5-1 vs the MAC down the stretch , the one loss was by a single point to Toledo .

The 4 returning offensive line starters could give BG the best line in the MAC ..8 of the top 10 are back and they're beefy.. Even the center Alex Padgett weighs 330 ...This monster line should push around the smaller D Lines in the Mac ..

RB'S Terrion Stewart ( played fantastic through the first nine games of BGSU’s season a year ago before injury, Stewart rushed for 762 yards and eight touchdowns on 125 carries. For his career, the 5-foot-9, 225-pound junior has rumbled for 1,469 yards and 17 touchdowns on 232 carries; his 6.3 yards per carry ranks No. 1 in BGSU history).

Jaison Patterson plenty of holes. and highly touted mac recruit Markel Porter provide nice depth .

QB Connor Bazelak threw for 1935 yards and 12 tds while the often running backup Camden Orth who appeared in games returns as well. Expecting Bazelak to take a major step forward and Orth to get snaps every game for a change of pace ...

One of the top TE'S in the country is also back in Harold Fannin Jr. ( 41 catches 623 yards ) .
The top 3 Wrs depart but the cupboard isn't bare with key transfers RJ Garcia ( Kansas St) and Malcolm Johnson ( Auburn) stepping in ..Pint sized 5'9 170 punt returner /wr Rahkeem Smith is extremely dangerous every time he touches the ball ..Finn Hogan only caught 11 balls ly but looked like a tough cover at 6-3 230 ...



Defense
Tied for most turnovers in the country last season...Also led the Mac with 18 Turnovers in conference play

3 of the top 4 are back on the D Line ..Should be stout with solid 300 pounders Hawkins and Brown at DT ...Sadd , Porter and a few others are seasoned but have to step up with Cashus Howell and his 9.5 sacks transferring to Texas A&M ...Imo Howell was overrated often selling out for the sack while ball carrier ran right by him .


LB. Two defensive captains are gone but top tier MLB Joseph Sipp returns . Speedy Safety convert Trent Simms steps in WLB....The D Line is really good which should help these Linebackers go unblocked vs softer mac lines ..

The secondary should be top 3 in the conference led by CB Jordan Oladokun ...Safety is deep and fast .. Plenty of seasoned players with transfers throughout..


Both kicking options return to what should be a much improved special teams ..

Got to see Bazelak play a few seasons ago when he was playing in the Big10 for Indiana. Hopefully he's much improved since he left. Seemed to make a lot of overthrows, then got benched mid-season if I remember correctly. Could've been partly due to a horrific line not giving him any protection. Always liked to play some overs in the MAC, especially if Toledo or Kent St (yes I still call them Kent St) were involved. Didn't know they were eliminating divisions but I guess that's probably a good thing by most of us.

I didn't realize the divisions had gone by wayside either.

Good info.

Our MAC guru for many moons has been @Marsski ... But plenty of others like Double Up have GREAT insight.

He looked awful at Indiana , much improved last season ar BG , although there definitely were some bad throws mixed in..
Your OVERS philosophy might be profitable this season as the transfer portal ripped apart a slew of the MAC defenses. ..

Was truly the only conference I was profitable on consistently pre covid. ( maybe the transfer portal and 9th year seniors have made it more difficult ? Lol )

Shockingly back in the day assistant MAC coaches would often call you back to talk about the upcoming season during the summer months ..After the first couple called back , I started calling every MAC school's athletic department leaving messages that I wanted to write internet blogs about the conference...One year every school called back except my local University at Buffalo lol ...
Some of the assistants would be vague , while others gave away TMI about new offensive formations , injuries , kids struggling at school , starters who could lose their jobs etc.

Can't remember the streak but think it was 7 years in a row of solid profit posted across the street. ( doesn't mean shet thou).

Well well well....A June MAC thread, nice.....Bazelak's accuracy (as noted already) would be my concern with BG. He throws picks and forces it. Stewart is a decent back for sure and they should have success on the ground.

I haven't really done my work yet but I know Miami with Gabbert will be very tough, they do have BG and Toledo on the road though and no divisions so they don't get the easier games vs Akron, Buffalo....My Bobcats are down this year with QB questions, WRs all gone etc. I would think they are a notch below...NIU is gonna be sneaky good, we'll see how they look @ Notre Dame early...not sure what they have in this Ark PB QB transfer...last year's backup was ok. They have the best RB in the league in Antario Brown he's a home run hitter. Toledo will be good as usual but must replace Finn...

Not much to post about in the MAC right now until the game of the year lines are posted. Very close to putting up my first set of MAC point spread ratings , but word around town is 3 key U at Buffalo Bulls haven't even registered for classes yet.

Already did, smashing those footy tournaments!! Was within inches of a 28/1 exact Colombia over Argentina. Hedged a lot made out very lucrative…. Had Spain and Germany futures galore. The winner just marched right home..Take care look forward to your analysis. Go Bills

Love that most of the so called experts are fading the BILLS futures this season. Think the roster is better moving forward ...Diggs disappeared in Brady's offense , Gabe Davis is a run blocker playing wr lol ...Safeties were old and slow, Rapp and Bishop are am upgrade ( Edwards from KC helps as well ) ...Healthy Milano back. Kincaid will have a monster 2nd season after 91 targets last year. Shakir should Breakout big time after leading the league in catch rate . Like the Coleman, Ray Davis , and the Center from Georgia out of the draft.

Please keep in mind these can , and will change as needed.

Many of these schools have major question marks.
While I absolutely love that the MAC has unfathomablely able to keep the same schools since 1999 the Covid / new expedited transfer portal/NIL has changed everything. .Both negative and positive impacts differ across the board , sometimes with very little predictability. All that being said the mac will remain one of the best opportunities for successful sports bettors to make great coin.

Schedule with NO divisions will be a major factor in conference records

HC, Oline , QB ,WR,LB, & special teams might all be the best in conference. Weaker DL and secondary could make their weekly Team total OVER a insta Bet as the defense could get burned by the pass for quick scores ...Might be too chalky this season thou after 11-3 ATS last season.

Thrilled with the Lembo hiring.
Previous regime missed out on some solid local recruits other than possible breakout Jayden Lewis.
While Lembo worked near miracles in year 1 at Ball st this transitional rebuild make take at least a couple/few seasons.
Offense could either be really bad or shockingly decent by the time MAC play begins.
Defense might get left on the field far too long.
This number is possibly +8/-3.75 depending on how the many questions on paper are answered on the field

Weird gut feeling this one goes to penalty kicks. I'll take a stab on exact score props and Penalty Kicks..Probably wouldn't touch this match if it wasn't in the knockout round .
