Luka to the Lakers (WTF) + Trade Deadline

They’ve already contacted Phoenix about him and have reached out to him to see if he’s open to a return.
What happened to this organisation? They used to be role model that others tried to replicate and now... Between handling terribly situation with KD and then Green/Poole and how they let Thompson go and now talking about bringing KD back?!

Calling it now.

Warriors.
It's been pretty well known here for more than a month that the Warriors were the likely first trade partner, not sure what the offer could be but obviously moving Beal was never going to be a thing and KD's brand of ball just never jived with Booker's brand

They were nothing but angels to Klay. Gave him that monster deal likely knowing he’d never be the same. He’s absolutely washed. What did you want them to do? Pay him for another 5 years for a total of 10? Their biggest issue is Kerr sucks as a coach now these days and his manhood has been broken for obvious reasons unrelated to basketball.

Poole has turned out to be a worthless player in today’s NBA, too.

KD left them, right?

I’m not a fan of the Dubz, but they won a ship only a few years ago.

Is it still James Jones running shit? Man that guys luster is gone.

I like James, it's the MSU owner that came in guns a blazin' tying to do a bunch of shit that made zero sense. Took the ball out of James's court. James has it together if the owner lets him do his thing. The Durant and especially the Beal things were both completely on an owner that wanted to make a splash. Fuckin' Izzo man.

Ah that makes sense. Yeah I didn’t love the Bridges / Durant trade. They seemed to have something going before that. Gutted their depth and there’s only one ball for 3 wings now.

Durant iso ball simply doesn't play well with Booker and I assume KD will be traded in the next couple days which will open the floor up for Beal to do something more than he has. The team isn't all that far off after the trade for Richards, it's just not built for the iso type that KD plays. It's still a very quality starting 5 w/o KD, I believe it will be better. Not sure what we can get for him at this point but he's obviously still valuable to someone trying to make that push to the finish line.

The league is better when Phoenix is contending. It’s a great basketball town when they’re going good. Hope they get it figured out.

Yes, all true, but they handled it all wrong. They never should have gave Klay the big deal and even if they did, they should have partied ways with him in much more respectful way. You say "gave him that monster deal likely knowing he’d never be the same" like it's a good thing... It's not and if you do such stupid move, let him finish his career as a Warrior or this move makes even less sense...
I don't like Poole as a player, don't get me wrong, but keeping Green and trading Poole is just bad team culture, when all the players and the staff knew Green is the one that was wrong. Green should have ended his Warrior days the same day.
KD - he left, but why? Again Green issue, not finding his spot on the team and so on. All Warriors said that the writing was on the wall and yet such once strong organisation couldn't do anything about it?
I don't know - I wouldn't bring KD back, I wouldn't resign Green even on a min.contract and I think Warriors are doing all the wrong things...

Kuzma is a Buck now. Curious about this move. Him and Lopez as frontcourt...
Middleton headed to DC and it's a shame he just can't stay healthy...

Gotta give Brian Windhorst credit this deadline.. He's been spot on and candid with most of these things.

Windy will always be winded like he just ran to Dunkin but at least he's been doing damage this circuit

Hm... not sure how how much I like this. I get that not every pick is a steal like Reaves was (albeit undrafted), but Knecht is solid and had great rookie year. I liked Reddish in ATL, but from there it's been downhill, so it's mainly Knecht the one that I'm having problem with + 1st round pick and a right to swap... I mean Doncic and all is great, but we are talking about 6-7 years down the line and we saw Lakers do some solid draft picks even in the bottom of the 1st round...
Don't know much about Mark Williams, somehow he got past me and while I don't follow NBA as closely as a decade ago, that still says something about him :)

You guys need bigs. Mark Williams is a nice pickup.

Maybe Dalton can get the mins he deserves now.

Yeah, was eyeing Robinson from the Knicks ;)
Williams has decent numbers and a rim protector from what I read and saw, but still... Knecht is solid!

So KD snubs GSW that were begging him to come back I see... 🤣
Plus as I understand, Wiggins was pulled of from the floor where they had warm up before the game to break the news.
Kerr about Wiggins:
“Just had a baby boy last week," Kerr said about Wiggins. "Girls in school. Wiggs is one of my favorite players I’ve ever coached. Just a beautiful soul. Just a wonderful human being and we don’t hang that banner in ‘22 without him. Everything he brings every single day...I’m gonna miss him.”
Yeah... how can you not love the organisation... But hey, they gave Butler shit load of money for the next 2.5 years!

Nothing that happened last night changes the championship picture this year.

GSW isn't a story all of the sudden imo.

Funny that everyone other than Lakers fans are saying how great of a deal Lakers made in bringing Williams, that is a perfect fit for Doncic. Only Lakers fans are on the fence, me including. He is solid, watched few videos regarding the trade, but his injuries are huge question mark and Knecht can turn in to very solid player and it's a shame we won't see it happening in Lakers jersey...

I guess I haven’t watched enough Knecht this year but I really liked the move for LA. He’s still younger than Knecht iirc

Do Atlanta/Charlotte/DC/Orlando ever make a good trade? It seems like that's the abyss of the NBA trade market

Not sure I understand why Grizzlies traded away Smart without getting anything in return...

Yeah, but Knecht after half a season and Williams after 2.5 seasons played almost the same amount of games 🤣
Knecht shooting 35% from 3. Not all that great. Think he's a bench role player at best. Even Davis said they needed a 5. I think Lakers now 3rd or 4th in West. And playing great right now. I have OKC to win West.

Not one team who made a big move will contend for a championship this season. Adding a "small" piece to a already good nucleus is one thing. Anything beyond that is a desperate team.

No need for multiple trade deadline threads

Suns traded Nurkic to Charlotte for a bag of balls

Couldn't offload Durant or Beal so yay for baseball season I guess

I'd wait till post ASG if I was the Lakers.
I wonder how many NFL players would sit out 8 weeks with a supposive calf strain. These NBA teams must have sone horrible massage and physical therapists. That is kinda my point. Luka is becoming one of "those" players.

Guy has played through a lot of nagging injuries in his career.

Yeah, not much moved the needle for me.

Certainly not the Lakers.

Dallas improved for this season if AD stays healthy in May.
