Meanwhile, former Cleek Laurie Canter became the first ex-LIV to earn a PGA Tour Card, through his play on DP World Tour.
 
LIV is definitely adding an international regions element to several of their teams. Ripper is an Australian team. Torque is Latin America. Stinger is South African. Ironheads is now Becko East and is Asian and might consolidate to Korean. Majesticks are UK. Fireballs are Spain. Cleeks are the rest of Europe. Think they're looking to upgrade their brand development.

They continue to do a much better job growing their international market than in the US. But I suppose that was always the plan to be more like F1 than NASCAR.

It's a little fascinating but the team logos all look like failed projects from a 2nd grade art class

Team golf is simply not a fun concept to follow outside of the obvious
 
Sucks that Mito will always be remembered for looking like a 10 handicap on the most important tee shot of his career
 
I’m surprised this hasn’t happened more often. Traveling week to week, living out of a suitcase, trying to play at the highest level. It takes a special person to thrive in that type of environment.
 
I sincerely hope all is well in the Koepka's household!

I know a huge appeal for all the guys going to LIV was the fact they would have an enormous amount of family time.

I can only imagine stepping away for more time. Hope all is well.
 
Curious to see how this plays out. Will he have to serve the full suspension? Does he have to go to Q school to get his card again?

Hope everything is ok family wise for him…
 
Not a big surprise to see Brooks leave LIV considering he had long ago stopped wearing his team's apparel. He leaves the tour somewhat close to how he was when he came in: on his career roller coaster he's been in one of his dips. He did leave before his contract was completed so it will be interesting to see how that was handled.
 
So that is a clear attempt from the Tour to poach back Rahm, Bryson and Cam Smith, who are the only players besides Koepka who qualify for the special exemption. As the Tour continues to put it thumb on the slow walk of OWGR points.

I can't imagine Cam Smith comes back at all.

He's in the DJ category of being happy to be rich and don't particularly care about golf. He'll fade into the sunset and enjoy life.

Rahm is the interesting one. He thought he was grabbing the money and would be right back into the PGA events he loves when he left a few years ago. Simply put, he thought the deal would come much sooner between the two leagues (framework agreement etc). Jon is a historian on the golf side and wants to make his mark. That being said, from what I've read, Rahmbo has put a lot of time n money into building his LIV team out. So, maybe he waits for the deal to end and hopes they come back with a similar offer?

Bryson is the unique one. He's so competitive but at the same point has built one helluva brand on YT. I feel like his negotiations would be a bit different than the other guys. He's going to want different things. He's as likely to negotiate with LIV for a bigger standing with the league as he is to rejoin the tour.

Ill be curious where LIV goes from here.

They lost a lot of the bravado when Norman left.

Moving to 72 holes at least makes Jon happy and will help to grab OWGR points.

The Team concept hasn't fully grabbed the fans yet. Sure, people are starting to identify with the teams a bit more but this is still a very slow process.

The shotgun start I think needs to die. I still can't get onboard with a tournament winner wrapping things up on the 11th hole.

My biggest thing for LIV is to keep building on hosting tournaments in locations that will react to hosting kike Australia does. Are there enough other spots to do this?

On another note -- if/when these two leagues do come back together -- make the actual Australian Open a 5th major every fall and really promote it.
 
Patrick Reed is leaving LIV. He will be eligible for reinstatement to the PGA Tour under past champion status in August. Sounds like he will play mostly DP World Tour events this season. He's currently in the top 30 of OWGR, so he's eligible for all 4 majors as of today.
 
This will allow for some significant movement up the rankings ladder for the best LIV players. Keep in mind that rankings are based on an average points per event calculation, where the divisor is allows at a minimum of 40. No LIV player has played more than 40 qualifying events, so their divisor will be unchanged while their top line number of total points goes up.

If Jacko Niemann wins the opening event, his total points will jump to about 58 and his average will go from 0.88 to 1.45. That would move his ranking from 155 to 89. Two wins puts him in the top 50. Last year he won 5.
 
If this had been in place last year Rahm adds about 80 points to his total and his ranking goes from 97 to 18.
Niemann would be ranked 11th.
Bryson moves from 33 to 13.
Sebastian Munoz goes from 767 to 102.
Dean Burmester from 276 to 66.
Taylor Gooch goes from off the map to 133.
Reed's divisor would've gone up to 44 but his average would've gone up 0.6, moving him from 25 to 17.
Carlos Ortiz goes from 169 to 63.

May or may not make a difference with qualifying for majors, time will tell.

1. No cut (not that big of a deal IMO)

2. Owgr would like 75 player fields minimum

3. Players are recruited to this tour. They haven't earned their way.

If they're going to award points to the players in the Hero World Challenge, I see why the LIV guys would be upset and I agree with them

Isolated event...

I can't imagine if there was 15 Hero events that they would award for them all.

I agree though on that.
 
All that being said, LIV is slowly dying. It may continue as a mini league but they are down to 2 stars. The decisions of Rahm Bryson will be big.

Nice avenue for young kids to break in or the older guys to hang on and have a lighter schedule.
