I'm curious but have Wings fans lost confidence yet in Yzerman because I would say he has been disappointing at the very least.
Yeah, the murmurs started last year quite a bit...
For me, this year is playoffs or bust. Period.
I would say that he'll have to get rid of Lalonde soon if things do not start turning over .500.
Team defense is the biggest issue. Hate it.
We're getting close though -- he has, imo, one more coach move left in him. That must be this year though.
Needed to happen a few days ago after Ottawa game
RW once again don't show up till third period and that is questionable. Lots of standing around. I'd trade just about everyone except Chariot, Kasper, Raymond and Talbot. No breakout, No Dee, and no game plan except to throw it down the ice. NO effort. Have these guys ever stood some one up at the blue line? WTF? How much time did the Wings have in Phillys O-zone? Not much. The Wings are a soft team and getting softer as the season progresses. They were better last year. No heart. All of them carrying purses! CHANGES ARE COMING! I'll put money on it.

Its time to completely clean house and get rid of Yzerman as well as the coaching staff. When he was hired I thought it would work out great after all look how much they won in Tampa but Yzerman has done a miserable job running the Wings. The problem in hiring a franchise icon is how hard it is to fire them.

You'd think he'd try to save himself with one more chance and get rid of the coach.

Toronto in town tonight. I'm taking TT over for Toronto. Wings are soft. Name one player that could play on another teams first line? Watch Wings dump and chase the whole game. Only way they stay in game, and the only way is if Toronto doesn't show up. If they're going to stand around and watch the Leafs skate around them they better fire that Uncle Fester looking coach sooner than later. Don't expect the Illitch's to spend any money either. Those days are long gone. A soft team all carrying their purses to the rink. Pussys
Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I throw the Red Wings under the bus, they start skating and shooting the puck. Doesn't matter. They're soft. The NHL.... no hit league until the play offs start. We watched the Philly game and did not see one bonafide hit the whole game. Were the boys skating, sure they were ,with no fear of getting hit. Both teams, and that goes back to the Leafs game, also was a no hit patsy game. IMO real hockey doesn't start till the playoffs. Until then you can watch the Juniors and see a much more physical game than what we're watching now. Lalonde must have told the team to start shooting....LOL

Doubt this changes much and I think Yzerman is on his last legs. Shame that Detroit is going to have to fire a franchise icon but something has to change with that team.

After that crap hockey on the west coast earlier this month, Stevie-Y probably was thinking if Lalonde doesn't right the ship, he's gone. IMO
So far so good!
The 1.5 periods was a nightmare but since that point playing well and winning games. .
Big one indeed!
One game at a time but love to see a solid run upto the break.

Mika Zibanajad could be the missing piece for a playoff run. Give pizza boy a call he's very available for the right price ( an old hockey puck should get the deal done).
They also actually practice. I read the other day McClellan kept them skating for 90 minutes on off days and they were their longest practices in 3 years. Wtf.
Went to game Tuesday night... Packed arena...Veleno scored nice goal to tie it up in the third. Seems like the boys are skating with a purpose for a change. A new coach can do that. Half way point in season and the Wings are on a upswing. Need to stay consistent for remainder of season to get in playoffs. Not the most talented bunch but I like their grit when they're skating hard and shooting the puck. It would be nice to get a big winger and a big defenceman to round out the team and make them more formidable. IMO GL
What a game to go to.
We're setting up our 3-4 games in the coming days here.
Might be at Montreal on the 23rd.
Definitely a few late February and early March.
Coach McLellan calls out defensmen Holl, "Had terrible game." Don't see that to often. Two giveaways leads to 2 goals. McLellan had seen enough and benched him for the final 5 minutes. This team needs to show up every game with high energy and their heads in the game to be successful. We all know this isn't the most talented team and hopefully Stevie Y makes a couple moves to make it more talented, like a stay a home defensmen that brings an "A" game every night. The clock is ticking as this team heads to Florida and a daunting road trip in the next few games. We'll see if calling a player out in public has a any affect on the team play. An interesting dynamic as this season unfolds. GL

5-2 Detroit over Florida in Florida. Says alot after their dismal performance the other night. Coach Mac has their ear. Looked like the Wings played within themselves. Kept Florida outside for the most part and Talbot played steady in net. People will say Florida's in a mid season funk and they'll be there in the end. I agree. It is still a good measuring stick for the Wings. Picking up the pieces after horrible hockey the other night shows some grit that was missing earlier in the year. It doesn't get any easier, TB tomorrow night and then Dallas Sunday afternoon. LGRW!! GL

Great TB game the other night. Boys showed some grit. Wings have their hands full for the rest of the year. Can't blame goaltending. Talbot played lights out. PK is looking better since new coach. PP is solid. When 5 on 5 that's when they need to keep shooting the puck. It's coming around slowly. Kane on IR, Tarasenko not playing tonight. Could be a tight game tonight if Wings aren't on a downer after big win vs. TB. Don't know who is in net for Wings. If it is Talbot I'm on under. Wings need to get out fast tonight. Should be another Dandy at the LCA. GL

Nice break. Great hockey with 4-Nations Cup. Anxious for the upcoming 27 games the Wings have remaining. Glad to see the 2 players from the Wings preforme admirably. Olympics should be terrific. Red Wings should make a good run at playoffs. This is the season. No excuses. Tough schedule...Oh well. New coach...All the right reason to make that final push. My wish list would be.. as stated before.. A stay at home defensemen and a huge nasty winger to give the boys a little more grit. I like them today at home vs. Minny. GL
