Let's talk pennant races...

Shaping up to be a September to remember.

Yes, the playoffs are much bigger than back in our childhoods but the positioning is so key!

Those WC series, the higher seed hosts all three games. That's big.

I do feel like we have our 6 teams in the AL. Now, Boston certainly isn't out of it and Seattle could get back on track but we're trending with the current 6 + Red Sox.

The NL is a different story. Between the West and Central, we'll see who gets hot into these last 5 weeks.

Should be fun !

September will move the bar more than ever. Pretty cool.

We're at the 2.5 week mark!

Look at those Mets surging...

Even my Tigers are only *3 games back currently.

AL East tight as can be, still, at the top.

I have some futures on the Mets to make the playoffs at +275 and similar numbers for the Braves not to make it. Watching that smug little prick David Stearns come into Milwaukee and beating my Brewers in the first round has been my ultimate nightmare scenario all season and its exactly how I think it all plays out.

+350 on the Braves for me. If those POS Mets can't get that 3rd WC spot, they should be shot.

The Braves have no business even being in the discussion at this point with all their injuries and deserve a ton of credit for even staying close.

Don’t want the Yanks seeing these kids. They’re on fire
I just want the experience...

I want the F.O. to then see this and make the right moves to keep this going.

I'm not dreaming this is '23 AZ... But hey, chip and a chair...

6 home games left with TB and CWS...

BTW, I believe 19-8 or so since Baez declared out for the year.

Next weekend will be interesting....

Tigers face the worst baseball team we've ever seen, perhaps.

I know @HUNT remembers 2006 all to well...

Now, that team ripped through the Yanks and Athletics in the playoffs... But they should have never started the postseason vs NYY...

Why is that? Well they led the AL Central at the end of the year...

Home series vs the TERRIBLE royals to end the year..

KC finished the year 62-100

Twins sneak out division by a game....

Oh yeah. Remember that like it was yesterday. As we know, anyone can win it with the expanded post season format. It's been truly remarkable by the Tigers who are honestly so flawed but managed so well. AJ Hinch using his starters in the pen and the pen to open the games for most of the second half of the year and how it's finishing is truly genius by him how he's made it work. The injuries to Carpenter and Meadows were bigger than we thought.

I felt something special brewing when I saw the kids come up and the pen just really going lights out the last few months...but figured for next year not this soon. They are young, hungry and careless in a good way. Nothing to lose. AJ needs to be manager of the year by a landslide. Unbelievable job. I know I'm biased but damn I'm not sure how he's pulled this off with a makeshift staff. It's great Olson is back though. Need that good number 2 behind skoobs.

Did the tigers overtake the twins this weekend?? That is fucjing awesome, even tho I’m bummed to not auto-fade twins! I just looked at playoff brackets as of today and sure enough tigers are in! But man they gotta play stros? That like the one team I can’t see them beating cause Stros don’t lose this time of year! Damn, is there a way they can get a different matchup?

FUCK ROCCO AND THE TWINS. IDIOTS!

I hate them at least as much as you! That said them playing stros being the easiest bet in history! I guess there a world where stros could pass clevland for one the byes? Man I sure would like to get tigers playing cle in round 1! I be all over that little plus money on Detroit! I can’t play them vs Stros tho, and it looks like that is most likely if they make it.

Man I missed a lot, snakes must be slumping? They are only 1.5 ahead of Braves for last nl spot? Mets are now safe or what?

Looks like kc and tigers are both just barely ahead of twins but who thinks twins will come up big when it matters? Nobody who watches baseball that who!

Tigers are tied for the 2nd wildcard while the Mets just took over the 2nd spot from Arizona. I took next week off as well as the week after to enjoy postseason but this week might be just as good! LFG!!

Braves moved Sale back a day. Was on regular rest today, then could've pitched Sunday. Could thing they saved him for game 1 of the WC series, that they won't be in anyway.

Also probably no way the Braves games Thursday get played as scheduled Thursday and Friday because of the pending storm.

Would MLB dare to push Thursdays game to Monday? If I’m a fan and that I am, I would love to see a morning game on Monday!!
Sure they would but that really crushes the winning team in the WC round anyways.

We could use a Friday start to playoffs IMO.

Be wise of MLB to make tomorrow a DH...

Get out in front of this.

Since when the mlb ever get accused of doing anything remotely wise? Lol. I do kinda like the pitch clock! Still not sure how I feel bout the only allowed to throw over twice but I guess if beats having a pitcher throw over 12x in a row! That could be super annoying! Think it makes walks 5x worse than they were before and we live in a time where half these pitchers can’t hit the broad side of a barn on a consistent basis! Yet scoring still prob down I’d imagine?

Yeah, scoring down despite that advantage.

Still a curve to getting back to small ball.

The cyclical nature of sport.

AJ has essentially been pitching for the playoffs since half the staff went injured and these guys will be ready if they get in. Everyone has pitched different innings all over the pen. Best pen in MLB right now. Lot like zona last year. Go in hot.

Baez and other former Cubs from that World Series team went to shit. Schwarber only one left worth a damn.
Wilson Contreras probably the only one with significant value. Rizzo is run down, Bryant is a walking injury, Hendricks is finished, and the rest are either retired or forgotten at this point. Heyward is a joke.

True, can't say it any better than that

Most of the lineup was younger guys at that time. Cubs should have probably won another World Series or two, but the damn metrics got in the way with not playing fundamental baseball

Not really sure what this means. Russell had legal problems, Bryant and Baez regressed, Heyward was never any good, Schwarber was mediocre as a Cub, Rizzo was the same guy he basically always was. Pitchers all aged. Never signed any other FAs that could have significantly helped. Minors stopped producing other than Happ. If the core guys had kept improving, they probably win another or at least make another WS. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. Baseball is hard.

Cubs had basically the same exact same team next season, I think maybe minus Fowler who really set the table, but the Cubs were primed to win more than one WS with rookie contracts but they all underperformed after 2016. Russell's legal problems weren't there the season after 2016 yet

No signs of MLB making a change for Thursdays game. There’s no other way to do this but add Monday if Thursday gets flushed out.
