  • Angels -210 / -1½ -108 ...Ohtani continues to improve with better command and velocity slowly rising. He only went 5 inning against the DBacks but his outing was ruined by the ump's shit strikezone and two ridiculous balk calls. If Maddon puts him in the lineup, you're also getting a .950+ OPS guy who has 2 homers in his last two. But what excites me more than Ohtani is the pitching matchup. Mike Manning is not major league ready. He's a hot prospect, being picked 9th overall in 2016 and showed promise in the minors with a 2.56 ERA in AA ball in 2019. However, with no minor league due to covid in 2020, he's come out the other side of the pandemic struggling. An ERA of 8 and a WHIP of 1.546 in 7 AAA starts is a tough look. He's only been called up due to pitching injuries. If he's putting up those numbers in AAA ball, imagine what a HOT Angels lineup can do. They may have got swept by the A's but they still average 7 runs a game over L11. They came up against a pitcher with a similar story, Duplantier (struggled in minors, rushed in due to injuries) last week and lit him up for 10 runs. Also, the Angels are doing half price tickets for their first night back at full capacity. The atmosphere at the Big A will be electric and I can see Shohei thriving off it. With all that said, Angels ML & RL both look tasty, even at juiced price. Also will look at TT and FF.

under strong consideration

  • Giants -1½ +190...SF is the better team with a SP advantage and fresh bullpen. Angels pitcher doesn’t go deep in to games and the Angels already weak bullpen was just used heavily.
  • The Giants have the best record in baseball at 46-26; with a stellar +90 run differential to support that record. They’re 22-16 on the road with an average win diff of 1.5 runs (the best in the MLB). They are 12-6 in June and 6-1 in their last 7. Their bullpen is fresh, only 3 RP have thrown in the last 2 days… and they’re all under 10 pitches. Today Anthony Desclafani takes the bump. He’s been very good this year with a 3.01 ERA and solid peripherals. He has only given up more than 3 runs once(back in May the Dodgers obliterated him). He has 2 complete game shutouts on the year. His ERA is sub 2.0 without that 1 Dodger game. He’s been lights out for the most part this year.
  • The Angels have found their footing in June, going 12-6. On the year they are 36-36 on the year with a -12 run differential. Pitching for them is Andrew Heaney, a pretty average SP. He’s got a 4.45ERA on the year and average peripherals (102ERA+). His issues is that he doesn’t go deep in to games (has never pitched 7 innings this year) and the Angels bullpen is bad. On top of being poor, they’ve used them heavily recently. Every RP except Junior Guerra (4.95ERA) has thrown in the past 2 days. They went to extras yesterday and used 5 RPs in their loss to the Tigers.

  • Astros -1½ -168 ...rolling with the stros again...why not? They've won 11 straight & won by 2+ in 11 of L13. This game showcases a very good team with good pitcher vs a very bad team with bad pitcher. Tigs are starting a reliever who has only 1 start this year. In that start he gave up 5 runs in 5 inn. Astros roll out their future ACE Framber Valdez with his dominating 1.67 ERA and .99 WHIP on 32 IP. He's 4-0 in 5 starts with an avg run differential of +4.4. Polar opposites here. But beware, sometimes when it looks too easy...

SD -1½ -128 ...The Pads are playing amazing baseball right now, and on splits hit significantly better at home. Merrill Kelly had a really nice outing vs the Brewers a few days ago, but that's pretty atypical for him. Expect him to regress and give up at least 3 runs in 4-5 innings. AAlso the Padre offense is super hot right now...since they were locked in on Urias, Kershaw, and Bauer when they swept the doyers earlier this week. They won't show any mercy to Kelly today. Lamet performs well when facing lesser competition. He got roughed up against the Cubs 3 outings ago, but if you watch the game back you'll see that he was making good pitches - but the Cubs were just raking. Both bullpens are depleted, so I just can't see the Padres dropping this one.
NYM -230 ...Hoping the Mets give DeGrom enough run support today to take the run line, but the ML is undoubtably safer. The under is a gamble as well. Don't do it - the Mets are one of those teams that could pop off at any moment, especially considering that this is an important divisional game. This said, the Mets offense has looked anemic the past week, with the exception of the Braves game. Eflin isn't a great pitcher, and is coming off a shitty outing vs the Giants. He's been regressing through the duration of the season.

SF Giants +1.5 -130 ...Rolling with the Giants today, they are on an absolute tear against the spread in the first game of a new series(23-2 this year). On the mound we have DeSclafani vs Bauer which should be a solid matchup vs two great starters. DeSclafani is having a breakout season, see below. . Trevor on the other side has gone 1W 2L 1ND 23IP 23H 10ER 33Ks. Bauer has really struggled giving up the long ball this season and against the Giants and that potent offense you don’t want to have those mistakes. +1.5 is just way too much for a team this hot and I expect it to be a close pitching battle. I’m going with the hotter offense, better team and better pitcher as of late. I’m riding the Giants till the wheels fall off

DeSclafani has been INCREDIBLE this year:
  • he has 2 complete game shutouts
  • in 14 of 15 starts he’s given up 3 or less runs
  • in 9 of 15 starts he’s given up 1 or less runs
  • in April he had a 1.60 ERA across 5 starts
  • In June he has a 1.00 ERA across 4 starts
  • hitters have a .199avg and .560ops against him

DBacks +152...maybe a tough sell, but hear me out...
  • DBacks 3-21 with a -54 run differential in June
  • 2-8 in L10 with a -17 run differential
Cardinals
  • Cards 7-17 with a -52 run differential in June
  • 2-8 in L10 with a -25 run differential
That 2nd bullet is the fun one. The cards played the Braves/Pirates/Tigers in their last 10… the DBacks played Padres/Dodgers/Brewers/Giants. The DBacks have been a better team playing against INSANELY better competition in their las 10 compared to the Cards. Smash DBacks today. Both have relief pitchers going, the DBacks offense is 100x better and they’ve been playing better.

Tigers +130...Detroit has been playing well in June. They are 12-10 and just split a series against the scorching hot Astros. The Indians are 14-9 in June. It’s worth noting that they’ve had 10 games against PIT/BAL in June. They’re a solid team nonetheless. Detroit has Matt Manning on the mound. A rookie call up who has been great in his first 2 starts. He’s thrown just over 10 innings and has given up 4. He has a very solid 3.38 ERA. Cleveland is starting Eli Morgan. Another rookie call-up. He was solid in the minors, no special tools though. He won’t overpower you and doesn’t have any devastating pitches. He’s been rocked in his 3 starts, he’s given up 6, 3, and 4 runs, despite only pitching 11.1 innings across the 3 starts. He’s got a 10.32 ERA and a 5.89 FIP. He’s been bad. I may be looking to add some RRL later when posted as well.

1624874341589.png
9pjh16t.jpg

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been a historically inept team that is already 34 games under .500 with a -106 run differential. The Diamondbacks play in the NL, where there is no DH. The Diamondbacks have scored 24 more runs than the New York Yankees.

  • Red Sox -1.5 -120...the Red Sox are a better team across the board than the Royals but the biggest difference is in the starters. Keller is sporting an awful 6.39 ERA and 1.803 WHIP. He has been especially bad over his last 4 starts with an ERA of 8.85 including a 5 run outing over 5 innings against the Red Sox 10 days ago. On the other hand, Pivetta has an ERA and coming off 6.2 hitless and shutout innings against the Rays.
  • Padres TT O5.5 +100 ...the Pads are 9-1 in their last 10; a stretch that began with a 4 game sweep of the Reds. The Padres' wRC+ of 143 over the last 2 weeks makes them the second hottest offense in baseball. They come up against Tony Santillan, pitching in only his 4th career start and whose 3.29 ERA is massively overperforming his 6.07 FIP and 1.463 WHIP. The Reds also boasts the worst bullpen in terms of ERA- in the majors. The total overs of 10 with the inconsistent Snell on the mound for the Padres could also be a decent play.
  • DBacks TT O4 -105 ...Carlos Martinez is not a good pitcher. 6.78 ERA over the season, a 9.81 ERA over his last 8 starts. The DBacks are bad but they are still able to swing a bat. By runs scored, they are actually league average in the majors. The Cardinals bullpen also rank bottom in 5 in ERA-.
  • PIT TT U4.5 -115 ...Marquez may have an ERA of 4 but look deeper at his numbers, specifically his last 7 starts. He had one blowout outing of 8 runs over 5 innings but then has only allowed 1 or fewer runs in the 6 other starts. In fact, he only allowed 4 runs in those 6 starts over 40 innings, good for a crazy 0.90 ERA. He'll be helped by an anemic Pirates offense which is the second worst in the majors in terms of wRC+. Don't have the F5 or F7 unders lines for the Pirates but they may be safer given the Rockies bullpen is a bottom 5 bullpen in the majors.
