SF Giants +1.5 -130 ...Rolling with the Giants today, they are on an absolute tear against the spread in the first game of a new series(23-2 this year). On the mound we have DeSclafani vs Bauer which should be a solid matchup vs two great starters. DeSclafani is having a breakout season, see below. . Trevor on the other side has gone 1W 2L 1ND 23IP 23H 10ER 33Ks. Bauer has really struggled giving up the long ball this season and against the Giants and that potent offense you don’t want to have those mistakes. +1.5 is just way too much for a team this hot and I expect it to be a close pitching battle. I’m going with the hotter offense, better team and better pitcher as of late. I’m riding the Giants till the wheels fall off
DeSclafani has been INCREDIBLE this year:
- he has 2 complete game shutouts
- in 14 of 15 starts he’s given up 3 or less runs
- in 9 of 15 starts he’s given up 1 or less runs
- in April he had a 1.60 ERA across 5 starts
- In June he has a 1.00 ERA across 4 starts
- hitters have a .199avg and .560ops against him
DBacks +152...maybe a tough sell, but hear me out...
- DBacks 3-21 with a -54 run differential in June
- 2-8 in L10 with a -17 run differential
Cardinals
- Cards 7-17 with a -52 run differential in June
- 2-8 in L10 with a -25 run differential
That 2nd bullet is the fun one. The cards played the Braves/Pirates/Tigers in their last 10… the DBacks played Padres/Dodgers/Brewers/Giants. The DBacks have been a better team playing against INSANELY better competition in their las 10 compared to the Cards. Smash DBacks today. Both have relief pitchers going, the DBacks offense is 100x better and they’ve been playing better.
Tigers +130...Detroit has been playing well in June. They are 12-10 and just split a series against the scorching hot Astros. The Indians are 14-9 in June. It’s worth noting that they’ve had 10 games against PIT/BAL in June. They’re a solid team nonetheless. Detroit has Matt Manning on the mound. A rookie call up who has been great in his first 2 starts. He’s thrown just over 10 innings and has given up 4. He has a very solid 3.38 ERA. Cleveland is starting Eli Morgan. Another rookie call-up. He was solid in the minors, no special tools though. He won’t overpower you and doesn’t have any devastating pitches. He’s been rocked in his 3 starts, he’s given up 6, 3, and 4 runs, despite only pitching 11.1 innings across the 3 starts. He’s got a 10.32 ERA and a 5.89 FIP. He’s been bad. I may be looking to add some RRL later when posted as well.
