Indiana vs. Notre Dame Discussion Thread

Indiana blew out almost every opponent they played.

OSU was as I said, a 24-10 game. Ohio State defense was excellent after adjustments and they had no time. That's to be expected from what Urban Meyer called the most talented team ever.

Many point to the Michigan game -- yes a team that struggled but in November the Wolverines played more to preseason expectations on defense. Things started to click a bit. That's a top 2-3 DL in the nation. The Hoosiers started strong that day and then had a lot of trouble with the DL.

So, how do we cap IU in the playoffs. I'd say first and foremost cap the opponent DL. Move on from there.
Michigan was much better than their record. Very tough schedule. The IU/vs OSU game results doesn't mean a thing. Piped in noise and knowing the snap count was a huge factor. They will not make the same mistakes again.

1st H U24.5 is solid....both teams defenses are top 5 vs the rush ( I'm pretty sure thats accurate)...don't see fireworks happening in this game, and definitely not on the 1st couple series for each team. Weather should play a factor in the passing game as well.....14-10 is a winner....but I think 7-3 or 7-7 is possible

Indiana maybe has 1 or 2 guys that could start/play at UGA or Texas. Hard to take anything they've done seriously until they play a real team. I've watched college football long enough to know the top teams in big games usually dont lose unless they give the game away (turn overs, block punts).
Possibly true.....but this is a team sport. So having a bunch of individually great players doesn't always add up to success.

Iu under 20.5 feels like where i wanna be here, Irish only gave up 20+ twice all year. Iu scored 20 and 15 vs the 2 excellent defenses the faced, I think Irish fall into that category but not sure I trust them to score enough to cover 7? I have no idea if iu d is good or not? All I know is when their offense stepped up in class It didn’t look very impressive.

Two great coaches, two great teams, one team has all the pressure on them, and that team is laying over a TD. The team that doesn't have the pressure on them, had all the pressure on the world on them to do well against OSU. They didn't answer the bell. Maybe if special teams was better, it would of been a game. Either way, now they get to try again with very little pressure. Who would you pick?

How up for this game are the Irish going to be? I think IU+pts is the play but do they have enough to win su?

Why wouldn’t they be up for a playoff game? You could tell me they could be overconfident, that would make sense to me but I assume they would like to win? I know Uga generally kicks their asses but I think they could actually play with this version of Uga..

What in the world they going to do in that weather for 12 hours? You coud not pay me enough
using hand warmers before going to piss.

I remember the family going to a Permian playoff game in the old Texas Stadium. THey took a couple of quarts of coke in, in their blankets. They froze.
Screw that.

Coldest game I went to was a Big 12 Championship game at night in KC vs OU in 2006. It had snowed about a foot the day before and the stands were not cleared. Absolutely miserable experience. The Mrs. spent the entire 4th quarter in the bathroom where it was warmer. Never attended a cold game since.

Dunno if Vegas sets lines on these things but I bet there easily 10 teams left out who be favs over iu. The 3 sec teams and canes are all no brainers, if you don’t think those teams favs over iu I’m wasting my time. Cause I’m just arguing w a fan boy. Prob one who loved getting 11 points against osu!
I’m betting N Dame but you are high as a kite if you don’t think IU is any good. Indiana would not even flinch playing those teams. You sound like a typical delusional SEC fanboy

You couldn’t pay me to be one those 60k freaks at kc or bills playoff games. I like my nice warm couch and big tv! I don’t like $15 dollar beers, of course it have to be booze not beer in that shit. I cook better, it cheaper, the view way better all from the couch! I get the atmosphere thing but not when it comes with frostbite!

Exactly, it's just not worth it. They just announced nebraska vs cincy is opening the season next year in KC. Got my tickets. Might be too hot.

Did a game as a kid, Okie Lite/ISU end of the season

Was so cold I couldn't grip my zipper on my jeans and had to piss so bad...eventually figured out the cold water in the sink warmed the digits up and it worked out. Seriously thought pissing myself was the correct answer until the cold water effect jumped up to the plate.

Did iu play any teams with above avg rushing qbs? I know they have the 2nd ranked or whatever run d but it no secret how fraudulent I find all the ranks they accumulated vs bums. I really can’t find a legit running qb on their schedule, Riley Leonard number feels low to me. Imo he is an elite runner for the position and not sure we gonna see much of a passing attack from either team. I think Leonard legs could very well be one the biggest advantages in this game. I don’t expect him to be taking sacks. I think he smashes that 52.5 rushing yards number. I know he has ran less of late but in a game this big I think we see him take off a lot.

I don’t give 2 fucks bout the sec. There only one fanboy talking here and I ain’t the one. I know it so fun rooting for a team that smashed a bunch of trash teams and never been any good! Woohoo, fandom ain’t my thing, reality is. There easily 10 teams not in that better than iu, maybe if they didn’t schedule Florida int, Charlotte and other non conf crap you would know that. They so good you laying a td with a team who lost to a Mac team and just let usc have 500 yards? Let’s all just get over sticking up for poor Iu who got gifted a spot they didn’t deserve.

What makes you think IU is good? Serious question. Since all schedules aren't even it is hard to tell. Is it because they blew out some bad teams? I see 68 yards passing and barely 150 total yards in their biggest game as a huge red flag. What was their best quality win? What hostile enviroment did they go to on the road and impress you? Has nothing to do with conference. To me this is a fraduluent team.

They literally avoided Oregon, Penn St, Illinois and Iowa the other top teams in the Big 10. The third best team in the big 10 that they played that got destroyed. To act like they are battle tested and have proven anything to me is a farce.

Unless we are giving them credit for their tough non conference schedule of FIU, Western Illinois and Charlotte.

And this is my biggest problem. Letting these posers in has just killed us getting good early out of conf matchups. Why should anyone schedule a potential loss? Get a lucky draw like iu got and pen st seemingly gets every year in these super conf w bunch of mediocre teams, only lose to the one good team you play, beat up on weaklings and that the path! This shit it comical. It not just Iu, pen st got the gift of all draws and they havnt beat anyone either, at least they didnt get smashed by osu or ducks like iu did and def would have if they saw ducks! Boise st and asu being 3 and 4 and getting the byes is such a joke. It ain’t just iu im “picking on”, they just the team everyone gets all sensitive over when you simply point out the truth!!

the same thing would happen if an SEC team had that 11 number.

Leaving them out would say the conference sucks. SEC/BIG that doesn’t happen to.

Mizzou the only team in sec I can think of that had anywhere near that kinda schedule but they still had to beat bama or Texas am to get in, had they beat all the middling to bottom feeders and lost to just those 2 I don’t think they would have gotten in, nor should they have. But iu only had to play 1 ranked team and scheduled the most trash out of conf they could find. That’s what is so stupid about this system, it isn’t the 12 team playoff it the super conf shit where you can schedule out of conf cup cakes and somehow get a lucky ass draw in conf where you see most the bad teams. And let’s be real about the big10 this year, how many good teams were there? How many ranked wins do iu, osu, and psu have combined? Maybe 1?

I’m with you. The system needs tweaking.

Again…12 teams. Gonna have shoo shoos

I just think it sending us down a path completely opposite of college hoops, ncaa hoops it actually good to have a tough out of conf and gives us a lot of early season worth watching. I just can’t see any power teams scheduling another good team out of conf, there is no upside and now the precident been set you be foolish to do so. So now the 1st month turns into total 💩.

Far as the game goes Riley Leonard over 53.5 rush yards, Gm under 50.5/irish ml, iu tt un 20.5 bout it for me. Guess we see how prolific iu passing game is cause usc just threw all over Irish secondary. I think nd controls the trenches, controls game w the run. Hoping Leonard can have big game on the ground vs the vaunted iu rush d, to me in bigger games he tends to run more going back to his Duke days.

'07..... Ft Collins for Utes/Rams. We wore all of our ski gear, still cold AF and it was a wet snow the entire game. Last game my wife has attended. My almost 21 year old son was bundled up like Ralphie's brother and after the game he couldn't make it to the port o potty in time and dropped a deuce in his snow suit. I had to do an underwear dump and he went commando for the ride home.

I loved it, my wife wanted to kill me. It was brutally cold that night. Ha!

well to pile on
'88 Cotton Bowl. I think it was 20 and the north wind of 20 . We were on the south side so getting it in the face. Ags beat Tim Brown and the domers, so we warmed up fast. Plus a thermos of barn burners(southern comfort and cider. even carried cinnamon sticks)

Ohh that sounds like a nice drink when it's cold .

78 Cotton Bowl was coldest I’ve ever been. New Years Day

It’s hard to believe these 2 teams play each other and ASU and Boise have byes. If the committee wants to be respected, it can’t display this kind of ignorance.
