HS All-American Game

SHSUHorn

Thief
Practices are going on this week and its usually where you find out who the studs are because they are now going up against each other.

Tom Lemming and Scout picked this years squad and thank god this game is going back to Rivals next year. Lemming the ND homer picked 13 Irish committs including Mike Golic son who is getting owned on one-on-ones. I think the next closes team is Texas I think with 6.

Watching the one-on-ones OL Mike Adams the Buckeye committ is flat out awesome. Absolutley tearing guys up on the East squad.

Terrell Pryor is not a natural thrower his delivery looks like a shotput motion. I want to see how he does in this game.

Texas committ WR Dan Buckner has been the best wideout on the west and looks like the next big #4 for Texas at WR.

Golic looks awful...so does Lucas Nix in one on ones...no way he keeps his five star rating...

Scout has Adams in the top 10 and Rivals doesn't have Adams in their top 100...I think it's safe to say he will move into their top 50..

Most in Ohio circles have said he's the best OL they've seen in Ohio since Pace...but his only knock has been his mean streak...apparently he's more motivated then they thought.

Horn - re:Pryor, you are exactly right. Also, he never really sets his feet when he throws either....very strang looking...I've seen him in person a couple of times.

How the hell did Golic get in there w/out the help of Lemming?

Speaking of past HS All-Americans... how about New Orleans product Joe McKnight's performance in the Rose Bowl yesterday?!?! True freshman, ladies & gents, watch out!

All you Southern Cal fans, congrats! I wanted him to stay in-state, oh well.

One thing I don't get. How is it decided who plays in this game? I was under the impression this game was all 5 star players but its not, I know there are a bunch of 4 star players as well. However guys like Julio Jones, Daquan Bowers, or AJ Green are playing in the Under Armour All-Star game as well as some other highly recruited kids who are top rated at their position. Were they left off the Army All American game or did he choose to play in this other one? I just don't know how this process works
---------------------------------------------

All of the high school football state champions have been crowned. All the pads have been thrown back in the equipment room to collect dust until spring. The players are now icing their wounds, getting back to work in the weight room or moving on to a different sport.

All except for the elite.

Eighty of the best football prospects in the nation will be converging on the Disney Sports Complex to compete in the Under Armour All-Star Game. Prospects will be put through two-a-day practices for five days before facing off in the game on Saturday afternoon.

The Under Armour All-Star Game consists of two teams: Team Click-Clack, dressed in silver, and Team Undeniable – which will wear red. While the teams consist of highly touted prospects from around the country, there will be no regional bragging rights on the line. The teams were structured to create the best matchups, rather than by geographical lines.

The game features Rivals.com's top two wide receivers in the 2008 class. Julio Jones of Foley, Ala., will be suiting up for Team Undeniable, while Team Click-Clack will have to settle for the human highlight reel that is A.J. Green.

Green and Jones should not have any trouble getting the ball. Green will be catching passes from the top pro-style quarterback in the nation, five-star standout E.J. Manuel. Jones will be tracking the ball out of the hand of four-star prospect Mike Glennon, the strong-armed N.C. State commit out of Virginia.

Green will be joined by a deep group of speedy receiver prospects. The group includes D.J. Grant out of Austin, Texas, Aldarius Johnson out of Miami (Fla.) Northwestern, four-star Deion Walker and Rayville, La., speedster Chris Tolliver. The tight ends can catch the ball, too. USC commit Blake Ayles and Georgia commit Dwayne Allen will split time.

It's good that Team Click-Clack has such a dynamic receiving corps, because by the looks of the Team Undeniable defensive line, running the ball may be a challenge. The nation's No. 3 and No. 4 defensive tackles - Jarvis Humphrey and Omar Hunter, respectively - will be anchoring the inside.

</TD></TR><TR><TD align=middle>Julio Jones will be suiting up for Team Undeniable.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- End Image-->On the edge, the red team is nothing if not athletic. Courtney Upshaw looked great at tight end in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic just two weeks ago, as did Jerrell Harris at linebacker. Now the two will be bookends on a loaded defensive line.

Team Undeniable's receiving group includes Southlake (Texas) Carroll teammates Blake Cantu and Riley Dodge. Its secondary features Tucker, Ga., secondary mates Neiko Lipscomb and Notre Dame commit Jamoris Slaughter. The linebacking corps also features a couple of future teammates: Miami commits Ramon Buchanan and Sean Spence are on the same side in Orlando.

In the trenches, both squads will have some big bodies. Team Undeniable boasts five-star Alabama commit Tyler Love at tackle and USC commit Khaled Holmes on the inside. Those two alone stabilize any offensive line, but include Matt Meyer of Stockton, Calif., and Dann O'Neill of Grand Haven, Mich., and suddenly the group becomes downright scary.

On the other sideline, Notre Dame commit Braxston Cave will be handling the ball at center, and he'll be flanked by Max Tuioti-Mariner at guard and four-star Antoine McClain at tackle.

Team Click-Clack will also be strong in the secondary. Cornerback Brandon Harris leads a group that includes the nation's No. 9 safety prospect - Spencer Adams - and the No. 5 safety in Auburn commit Dee Finley.

With teams as stacked as they are in Orlando, it is hard to find a potential sleeper in the bunch. However, there will be an opportunity for a few players to make a name for themselves. Martin Bayless, an uncommitted wide receiver prospect out of Fresno, Texas, may not be uncommitted for long.

The same can be said for Fresno, Calif., safety Stanley Yarbrough. Some impressive work at practice against Rivals100 talent can put the senior in good company.

All of these players have come to Orlando with high school careers that set them apart from crowd. This week they will have the opportunity to set themselves apart, not from the crowd, but from the elite.

btw Hunt, congrats to UM for willing the battle for Brandon Smith, he sure could of used him

Another example would be:

Will Hill playing in Under Armour game #1 athlete/player in NJ
Brandon Smith playing in Army AA game, #2 player in NJ

The players have a choice. Go to Orlando where the game is run by ESPN. OR go to San Antonio where the game is run by Scout and NBC.

On ND having a ton of committs well you know NBC is the one airing the game? I'm sure they need to have a ton of recruits to help pump the future of ND football after them having their worst season ever.

Most have picked San Antonio cause that is traditionally the better game.

jump, everyone is saying that Adams is the best player there and their isn't a close second. Rivals is going to put him in the top 10. Right now he's #85.

Yea, as he should...he really is a beast...

w/ Brewster, Shugarts, and probably Jenkins, the OLine class is unreal, as is USCw's...

alot of tOSU recruits are making noise it seems...Posey is a 5 Star but seems to be the best WR there....Sabino many say is better than Beal and the best LB there....Stoney has a couple TD's from Gray.....and he's playing TE, which he won't play at tOSU..and Lamaar Thomas has played well, even though he'll also play WR for us, not RB.

.

Thanks Horn. I was looking over the Under Armour rosters and there is some real good talent on those teams, should be a entertaining game since the teams were made to create the most even game possible.

interesting to see Riley Dodge as a WR....this guy is something like 27-2 as a starter for SL Carrol as the Qb. He will be going to UNT next year to play for his dad

Latest word on tOSU scout site is that Patrick Johnson called Ohio State today and wants to visit..

Very strange.

On his own dime at that. That is what gets me.

I like the story about Pryor showing aup at Brewster's room with his suitcase and told him (Brewster) to scoot over that he (Pryor) was staying in his room. And some think he isnt coming to Columbus.

585559.jpg

<CENTER>JACKSON</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->QUARTERBACK
Star Jackson has emerged as the best passer of the group on either side which is a bit of a surprise to many. With five-star quarterbacks like Terrelle Pryor, Blaine Gabbert and Dayne Crist on the East and West, Jackson has had the best week of practice. Does that mean he has the best upside? He doesn't have the dual-threat ability of Pryor or many of the intangibles of Gabbert or Crist, but time will tell. Next Best: Gabbert – he got stronger as the week progressed.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
585694.jpg

<CENTER>SCOTT</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->RUNNING BACK
Darrell Scott has been amazing all week in practice. His combination of size and his burst to the outside make him a special back. Scott has shown tremendous vision, strong legs and the ability to make something out of nothing often. He's shown why he's the nation's No.1 back all week. Next Best: Ryan Williams – His start-stop ability has impressed everyone as he's emerged as the best back on the East.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
586141.jpg

<CENTER>POSEY</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->WIDE RECEIVER
DeVier Posey gets the nod when it comes to consistency throughout the week. He runs the best routes, he has great hands and he showed the ability to get deep as well as go over the middle and make tough catches. There were a lot of very good receivers on both sides, but Posey was the best day in and day out. Next Best: Jonathan Baldwin – His size is too much for corners to handle and he's surprisingly graceful for a big man.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
586453.jpg

<CENTER>RUDOLPH</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->TIGHT END
The West utilizes the tight end a bit more but when it comes to pure skill, Kyle Rudolph can't be touched by anyone on either side. He has good size, runs very well and caught almost everything in drills. He might not see the football on Saturday because of the offensive scheme, but he has the best skill set of the group. Next Best: Andrew Jones – He had some drops early in the week but straightened things out as the week wore on.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
585981.jpg

<CENTER>ADAMS</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->OFFENSIVE LINE
There are a ton of very, very good offensive linemen on both squads but no one has touched Mike Adams. From the day he walked into the lobby to register to the last practice, he has dominated everything. Adams is a franchise left tackle, plain and simple and it's easier to see why there have been comparisons to Orlando Pace. Next Best: Matt Kalil – Others look better out of uniform but few look better on the field.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
585987.jpg

<CENTER>FORSTON</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->DEFENSIVE TACKLE
Marcus Forston has been a beast all week. He's a Warren Sapp clone who shoots the gap so quickly, uses his hands so well and has so many different moves that offensive linemen don't know what to expect. He was in the offensive backfield all week long. Forston was to the defensive line what Adams was to the offensive line. Next Best: Baker Steinkuhler – There could be a fight between the offensive and defensive coordinators at Nebraska for who gets to coach this monster.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
586140.jpg

<CENTER>GREEN</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->DEFENSIVE END
William Green may not have the ideal size to play defensive end, but tell that to the numerous offensive linemen he's made look foolish all week. Green is so fast off the ball and has a spin move to die for. He has long arms and keeps bigger players off balance despite a lack of great strength. Green may play linebacker in college, but he's been the best defensive end in San Antonio. Next Best: Quinton Coples – This was close between Coples and Darius Fleming but Coples gets the edge as he's been more consistent.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
586808.jpg

<CENTER>BRADHAM</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->LINEBACKER
Nigel Bradham has an incredible combination of size and speed and has shown good instincts all week. He's had trouble at times taking on offensive linemen but when he has an angle on the ballcarrier or a receiver comes in his area, watch out. Next Best: Despite all the talent on the East squad, Penn State commitment Michael Mauti has made a big impression this week. This kid loves to hit even when you're not supposed to and he can run.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
585707.jpg

<CENTER>JOHNSON</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->CORNERBACK
Patrick Johnson may have a lot of people guessing where he's going to school, but there's no guessing about his ability. He has clearly been the best corner on either squad and can be left in man coverage and eliminate one side of the field down the line with additional coaching. Next Best: Aaron Williams – Some say he can't play cornerback at the next level and is made for safety. He hasn't had many problems on the corner this week.
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
585651.jpg

<CENTER>MOORE</CENTER>
<!--END IMAGE-->SAFETY Rahim Moore started off slowly this week but got stronger with each day and practice. He's shown the ability to break on the ball quickly, has shown solid ball skills and reads the quarterback well. He's become a defensive leader for the West. Next Best: Gerell Robinson – Robinson is a terrific athlete with good size who can run with wideouts. He still lacks great instincts at times but when he's near the ball he'll make a play.
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

587415.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->QUARTERBACK
E.J. Manuel, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside, Florida State Commit
In the pocket, E.J. Manuel hasn't separated himself from the competition like you would expect from a five-star prospect. However, he has shown great speed and athleticism out of the pocket, both on designed plays and when the play breaks down. He also plays the role of field general and team leader well. Fast Riser: Kyle Parker, Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail, Clemson Commit
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
587388.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->RUNNING BACK
Jamie Harper, Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian
With a powerful frame, Harper is the most physically developed back in Orlando. However, he has shown soft hands this week coming out of the backfield. He has the size and speed to either run you over or take it to the house. Fast Riser: De'Anthony Curtis, Camden (Ark.) Fairview, Arkansas Commit
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
587414.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->WIDE RECEIVER
A.J. Green, Summerville (S.C.), Georgia Commit
Wide receiver is the deepest and most talented position in the game. Green just edged Joshua Jarboe for the top spot because of his size and his great body control. Both Jarboe and Green played the most consistently throughout the week, though several others stood out as well. Fast Riser: T.J. Lawrence, Lakeland (Fla.) Kathleen
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
587409.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->TIGHT END
Blake Ayles, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran, USC Commit
Ayles is a mismatch waiting to happen. He has tremendous athleticism and hands and runs routes like a skilled wide receiver. He was one of the most impressive players at the event regardless of position. Fast Riser: Dwayne Allen, Fayetteville (N.C.) Terry Sanford, Georgia Commit
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
586524.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->OFFENSIVE TACKLE
Tyler Love, Mountain Brook (Ala.), Alabama Commit
Love impresses among all-stars with his physical stature. He is put together extremely well for a kid of his size and he moves well, particularly in pass blocking where smaller ends don't hold much of a chance. He is one of several other monstrous and impressive offensive tackles on the Red Team. Fast Risers: Zebrie Sanders, Clayton (Ohio) Northmont
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
586814.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->OFFENSIVE GUARD
Khaled Holmes, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, USC Commit
Holmes is light on his feet and really locks onto defenders, often driving them all the way to the boundary. Another potential pick here would be John Michael Boswell, an offensive tackle that has been playing guard. He has adjusted well to the switch and has shown that guard may be a better fit in college. Fast Riser: Ricky Barnum, Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
586411.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->DEFENSIVE END
DaQuan Bowers, Bamberg (SC) Bamberg-Ehrhardt, Clemson Commit
It doesn't take long for Bowers to stand out even in an all-star setting. His size, strength and athleticism are rare at any level and he has been a major challenge to deal with playing at his true position of defensive end. Fast Riser: None
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
586815.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->DEFENSIVE TACKLE
Omar Hunter, Buford (Ga.)
It has been a joy watching Hunter get after offensive linemen in practice. He maintains great leverage, is extremely active with his hands and has quick feet. There isn't much not to like about Hunter who should be a good one at the next level. Fast Riser: None
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
586099.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->LINEBACKER
Sean Spence, Miami (Fla.) Northwestern, Miami Commit
He is certainly not the biggest linebacker in Orlando, but Sean Spence may just be the most tenacious tackler here. He has a great motor and has excelled getting to the ball and playing physical. Fast Riser: Uona Kavienga, Los Angeles (Calif.) Leuzinger, UCLA Commit
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e4e7eb"><!--START IMAGE-->
586813.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->CORNERBACK
Brandon Harris, Miami (FL) Booker T. Washington
Harris really showed off this week against top competition and has cemented himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the country. He is as fluid as they come in his backpedal and in his hips and he has make up speed as well. With the level of cornerback play that was taking place, Harris standing alone says a lot. Big Risers: Janoris Jenkins, Pahokee (Fla.), Florida Commit; Charles Whitlock, Chester (S.C.), South Carolina Commit
</TD></TR><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 4px; PADDING-LEFT: 4px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 4px; PADDING-TOP: 4px; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #f6f6f8"><!--START IMAGE-->
586406.jpg

<!--END IMAGE-->SAFETY
Will Hill, Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep, Florida Commit Hill is impressive on so many levels. He has tremendous lateral quickness and good strength which makes him very disruptive against receivers at the line of scrimmage. He also is a quick accelerator coming out of breaks. He is extremely versatile and one of the top all-around players on his Red Team. Fast Risers: Spencer Adams, Matthews (N.C.) Butler; Terrance Parks, Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside, Florida State Commit
