This has been the biggest joke in the NBA. How Kobe hasn't gotten one is beyond me. The guy in my opinion has a chance to be the best 2 guard ever to play and yes that includes #23. Put MJ with Smush -- Kwame -- Odom and Luke Walton and let me know how many rings he'd have. I thought he should have been MVP in 05 when he averaged 35 / 5 and 4, but somehow the media felt otherwise. If he doesn't get it this year I will be mad.. :smiley_acbe:

you dont like the dramatic build up? lol ... i still cant get over the fact that Dirk got one .. makes no sense. Maybe the NBA rigs awards too

Throwback your boys looking great, hope we don't meet them in the playoffs, I think you would go through now that Fish is back :D

Abcs, Smush is gone and fisher is there now. Odom and Walton are still there and you throw in Bynum playing the way he was before tonight and everyone chipping in off the bench makes a pretty good team. you could go back a few years ago when the team completely blew but the team wasn't exactly very good and winning a lot of game. In Jordan's first 3 championships he still really only had Pippen and a bunch of old guys like horace grant, bill cartwright, john paxson, scott williams, and people like that. It's not like that team was full of stars. He somehow won it all that year.

You do have a great MVP argument for that year but we all know voters look at wins and loses when considering MVP which doesn't make much sense to me. Without Kobe that year that team is like 8 and 74 or something haha. love the TO picture

How great does this sound and you might take those comments back. Cartwright at 35, Young Scottie Pippen, Older John Paxson, and Young Horace Grant.

I'm sure Mike wouldn't take Fisher, Walton, and Bynum over those 3 he had, but his players were better due to the era he played in which the NBA was great now it's a potential league.

Don't really want to turn this into a Kobe Jordan debate. But who were the great 2 guards in Jordans era? Look at how the game has developed now. Partly due to MJ but Kobe has to go against a lot better defenders and a lot more athletic guys and still scores at will.

Anyway, yea Jordan did a good job winning those first 3 rings, however Pippen and Ron Harper are a tad better than Fisher and Odom. Ron Harper was rookie of the year..

Remember that one Bulls team with Kukoc and Pippen was one call away from making the ECF the year MJ sat out. Would love to see how a a team led by Ariza and Odom would do. (By the way the same argument can be made for King James) :cheers:I just think when a guy leads the league in scoring and is first team all defense.. thats impressive

That was crap, it was partly due to the fact they didnt want Nash to be mentioned in the same breathe with the guys who have 3 mvps. Nash's #'s that year were better than his 2 previous MVP years

Ron Harper was pretty old in that second string of championships. That team was definitely better than the first but when they added Kukoc and Rodman they became completely unstoppable. But I think the one thing you are forgetting is that Jordan was a better leader than Kobe. If you had Odom on a team with Jordan he wouldn't put up with Odom's constant lack of effort and the I don't really give a fuck attitude. I hate Odom.

I hate Odom.

THat might be the only difference.
Kobe is a lot better shooter and has far more range. He is also better with the ball in his hands, although he does take and make some difficult shots. Even Phil is quoted as saying that Kobe was a better player with the ball in his hands. Defense is a wash imo. MJ could hand check and now you can't touch anyone at all.

if Kobe doesn't get the MVP this year it was just a joke. Hey i've got an idea... give the MVP to somebody who is on a team full of good players. Nash with Marion,Stoudamire, and even Diaw and Barbosa are better than players such as Luke Walton and Jordan Farmer. Or how about give it to Dirk again on a team with All star Josh Howard rising star Devin Harris. Duncan carries the spurs and he got his MVP. The lakers are sub-500, and possibly the worst team in the leauge with at #24

I guess you haven't heard. Lakers are 25-11 and 10-6 on the road.

I went back and looked at the 91 team
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CHI/1991.html

It was perfectly built. I mean pure genius. They had 3 sharp shooters. BJ Armstrong, Paxson and Hodges. Considering how great MJ and Pippen were.. you can't double them and leave any of those guys open.

I still have nightmares of all of the open bricks smush had in that suns series

Smush's 2 years in la in the playoffs 15 and 16% from three :seeya:

another sick picture. I wonder what Durant is thinking

Seattle SuperSonics' Kevin Durant (35) watches as Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant takes his final shot of the game to give the Lakers a 2-point winning margin in overtime during an NBA basketball game Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Seattle. Bryant scored 48 points and the Lakers won 123-121. (AP Photo/Elaine Thompson)

"That's why he's the best player in the world," said Seattle rookie Kevin Durant.

Yao Ming is the MVP and Yi Jianlian is the runner up.

Like so often before Yao made the front page of nba.com today. NBA wants the Chinese market bad.

This is why i love kobe 44 shots and 2 assists.. but fuck the teammates when your a balla

i hope kobe dosen't get the mvp award just to show that the awards now are a total sham. Heisman, pro bowl rosters, all star ballots, and whatever else i am missing. I think these awards are not giving fair consideration. Also, like the baseball hall of fame gets voted in by beat writers, come one give me a break. 43 year old beat writers that are homers on their teams.

Sorry for the rant but just my .02

its all politics...they r not gonna let someone get it after that rape bullshit...lakers are my favorite squad n i do believe kobe is the best player to EVER play in the nba, but nba is just shady towards him...if you took out nash or dirk the years they won it, those two teams still could have made it to the playoffs...if you took out kobe those years they could possibly have been the worst in the west...

i dont give a shit what anyone says, scoring 81 in a game and doin what he did last year definitely deserved the mvp...especially havin kwame on your team when he always helps the opponent out, bein as shitty as he is.

he should get it this year for sure especially the way he changed his gameplay around to better our team, but probably wont get it, maybe garnett or lebron:down2:

Kobe is sick and derserves the MVP.

The Lake show looked really good last night granted no defense was really played it seem like they scored every time down the court.

The look of the team chemistry is amazing. The bench is up there with the best in the NBA . How will the team look when Bynum gets back?????????

throwback, why do i have a urge to go across teh street to covers and make fun of hustleman? lol.

Nike Kobe 3 (III) SL - All White

nike-kobe-3-iii-sl-all-white-2.jpg

Here is a preview of the Nike Kobe 3 (III) SL - All White editions. They are simple, and many Kobe Bryant fans are outraged because the shoe does not live up to the presence that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar holds on the hardwood. It features an all white colorway with black accents, including the Nike swoosh and a ring around the shoe. It is set to release in April, 2008.

maybe it isnt fair but i think kobe should win atleast one title where he is the main man on the team before we start with the michael comparisons.

of course you said you didnt want this to turn into that kind of debate, For his on the court activities this year he looks like the best player in the league. Unfortunately ( or fortunately ) , his being an asshule ( or alledgedly invading someone elses ) might keep him from winning it.

As a voter it might fall into the "does oj or ray lewis deserve to be in the hall of fame ? " debate.

But make no mistake ..... if they held a draft to start each season with all current players eligible every single owner would pick kobe first.

Bynum might be out longer than expected....may not be back till the playoffs, but as long as they get in.....
Kobe is MVP:shake:
