Free Agency and Trade Discussion March 2026

I have decided that the 2nd pick in the draft is VERY available and any team that is willing to trade their 27 first round pick to move up can have this extremely valuable asset.

This draft has to be one of the worst I've ever seen. You've got Mendoza and then no QB worth picking in the first three rounds, no great WRs, a bunch of mediocre defensive lineman and of course a safety being pushed who isn't exactly the next Ed Reed. Every team other than the Raiders should be looking to trade down and accumulate picks in the 27 draft which will have multiple QBs and a sure thing wide receiver in Jeremiah Smith.

Been waiting for you to comment on the David Montgomery move @B.A.R.
Not at all a surprise.

I meant to start this thread on Monday and just got behind on other things to be honest....

Most figured Monty was gone as the season wound down. The cryptic social media posts of his locker and basically saying goodbye after the home finale definitely was a sign.

The other issue -- MCDC didn't use him as much as DM would want to be used. And, as a fan, I agree with the player here. I was very critical of Dan's use of the run game later in the season. I've been consistent with my questioning Ben back in 2023 in some road losses when he abandoned the run in the 2h after very successful first halves.

I think there was a small path to him coming back and the Lions worked with Monty to send him to a spot he liked. Credit there.

Now, as far as the trade...

1. I'll miss Monty. He's a locker room guy who was a huge part of the last 3 years. He has a few solid years left.

2. RBs are quite replaceable. Remember when the Lions let Jamall Williams go after the 17+ TD season? The fans were very upset. Enter Monty.

3. The trade itself is excellent. I'll give it a B+, and that might be low. There are some signs this backup OL wasn't used/developed properly. We'll see. The draft capital is much needed.

Enjoy Kyler Brewers, he'll be the most frustrating 10 game a year player you've had in some time unless the Vikings snag him

Mendoza MIGHT be a late first rounder in a normal draft

Cal Mendoza is a day 2 guy, he caught lightning in a bottle in Indy and the worst QB draft in our lives to end up being number 1

Since this isn't a draft discussion thread I'll keep this simple...

You might want to review QBs drafted first before that statement.

Just saying...

Cool. I'll say it. David Carr >>>>>Mendoza yet they'll end up being the same guy. Damaged goods.

Jamarcus??

Tim Couch!?

Mendoza has the tool set. System and coaching will be a factor.

Let's not talk like those Hoosiers were supremely talented at the skill positions. We would be fooling ourselves saying as much!

All signs are Jets

Thennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn maybe Minny
I'd be surprised since he is probably good enough to ensure they don't draft first in 27 and thats the goal. I expect Kyler to end up with a winning team like Minnesota or Pittsburgh where he can start or backup someone like Mahomes. The jets really need to roll with Fields again or go with a vet scrub like Andy Dalton.

Mendoza is a high first round pick in any draft.
