First Round NBA Playoffs Discussion!

Lakers lead 2 - 0... Smart and Kennard shot more or same as KD... KD shot one basket in the whole second half (and was the same in regular season against the Lakers)...
Houston so bad on offense. Giving the ball to Durant way out top where he can be easily doubled is so stupid. But you're right Houston is worst team in West. I will say Ayton is fucking horrible. He will cost Lakers vs anyone good.

Agree reminded me of Clipps giving ball to Kawhi 35 ft from rim each possession

Ayton comes and goes. I seen games where he is everything I hoped for when Lakers signed him and more and some games you understand why Suns and Portland did everything they could to get rid of him...
He doesn't want to be type casted as Capella, but Capella is one of my favourite players and he can wish to have career like Capella...
If Ayton becomes more humble, he can have a helluva career. If he persist on acting like a superstar with nothing to back it up, he will find himself in Eurolegue before the decade is over (though I like European basketball as much as NBA if not more tbh)...

Interesting to see Houston imploding like this.

Seem to have the coaching advantage but the team isn’t clicking ..

They were another team who never really turned it on during reg season..

A preseason with a lot of hype .. Thompson was suppose to take the jump and hasn’t..

With all that said, LA only -135 for series

Interesting series price for sure.

Luka not coming back now, though.

For now Lakers insists he won't return this round. If Rockets lead 3-2 or if series goes back to LA in 3-3 situation, will it stay the same... Who knows.

I have to look up what's even happening

This is the most pathetic month of sports in general that I can remember

At least the soccer is a little interesting

First full month of MLB.

This month is fantastic.

Agree except on coaching. I agree with espn talking heads for once that JJ us coaching circles around Ime so far. Lakers -135 will be a bet i think.

I don't even remember who won the Final Four. Masters was about as boring as it could be.

Wade Garrett would blame it on my high knees

Castle, Harper and Wemby... What an amazing trio that haven't even started to evolve and only begin their way in the league...
Add Vassel and Johnson and Spurs are just scary...
Castle carried Spurs the first half and Harper exploded in the 2nd half.
Blazers couldn't find a path to break Spurs defensive scheme and only amazing game by Jrue and Williams kept them ahead...
Avdija had bad game, but I love the way he kept attacking the rim and getting to the line - that shows his growth, although painful growth tonight...

Helluva young team!

The fact I have this team at 25/30-1 is something I'll be begging for the next decade as they'll be single digit on the futures market more times than not!

Btw, I wonder what would have been the odds that the first (and so far the only - Thunder can do it tonight) team that will go 3 - 0 in this season postseason will be the Lakers playing without Doncic and Reeves? I think it speaks more to the fact how Rockets are bad, but you can't ignore the amazing job that Bron, Smart, Kennard and Hayes are doing!

Hachimura is someone I been watching closely far too much. He was with Avdija and Wizards games were broadcoasted here every time and in the Lakers obviously I watch closely and this postseason, it's the first time I seen Rui pass the ball and/or playing on defense... He did very nice job defense wise in Game 2 and was huge surprise for me.

As for Rockets, first one to blame has to be a GM. I seen at least 8-10 games of the Rockets this season and each time, both US broadcasting crew and Israeli asked the same question - how on earth, losing your starting PG before the season started, didn't result in signing a PG all season long?! I think they wouldn't have lost at least Game 3 if there was another PG on their roster...
Here is one example - Cameron Payne - came back from Euroleague to Sixers in February. Rockets couldn't have used his services?!

these first two pistons games have gone under. Feels like another under, these first two games have been physical and I don’t see it changing. But these teams have shot the 3 poorly too. Gotta think that may turn around ?
Thoughts on the total?

We have 7-8 mins left but two major injuries and the Timberwolves are seemingly following the star out angle within a game, live!

I wanted to bet them(live market), but with Denver down and this being such a big game, I wasn't seeing it.

Murphy's law.

We'll see if they can finish off a late Denver rally!

The Bulls traded away Coby Diso and Vuc and I think they got a few second round picks.

Not saying they shouldn’t have blown it up.

But this is a dumpster fire of an organization.

League gifted them Rose and he blew a tire after 10 years or misery and it’s been another 15 since

Donte torn ACL.

Ant Man out for the rest of tonight. Hopefully not season ending.
Think Donte is another Achilles. 30 years ago u never saw Achilles injuries. A friend surmised its because athletes today are much stronger and the tendons can't support the muscle strains. Who knows. Nba Game still 48 minutes.

Yeah, but it's because of 82 games. If we compare NBA and Europe, per 1000 games, still achilles injuries occur 4-5 times less than in the NBA during same amount of games - but obviously different stretch.

Interesting that Euroleague now has 38 games per season starting this season and if we add for example 34 games played in ACB and 2-3 games in Spanish Cup, we get almost similar number of games - but roster usually a bit shorter.

Will be interesting to see if injuries will go up on average per 1000 games...

There's a lot to it ..

NBA players play less mins now and have superior travel and training...

But they also are starting year round hoops earlier in life -- travel ball etc.

Overall, injuries seem more commonplace in all sports with "different" training. They are shaping their bodies differently.

Yeah makes sense. Something has changed in the 15 years or so. It's so common now, almost an epidemic. Has to be the year round nature now and leg training. When I was in HS u played your H S season and that was it. Now year round. It's the daily practices that likely do it. Going hard year round. No rest. I know its something.

Rockets show up tonight? They’re so bad closing games, thinking 1H play…
Yeah, I'm thinking... Thunder about to sweep the series... Maybe Lakers extending the series to allow Luca and Reaves return not a bad idea...

Can't see any reason for Wemby to play tonight... Even if series return to SA 2-2, Spurs can leave with that. Wolves are losing two starters tonight, so as long as Spurs move to the next round healthy and as long as Wolves win one of the next three games against Denver, they are good...

Head injury. Not likely to risk much if he’s cleared.

Wolves going to also have a very hard time winning another game

Few thoughts on yesterday's and today's games...
Raptors won with 32% shooting from the field... Last time team won a playoff game shooting that poorly was more than 50 years ago in 1969 (Celtics). That's says a lot.
Tonight Magic won btw shooting 33% from the field, so... Eastern playoff this season is just ugly...

Avdija shot 8 - 14 last night and finished with 26 points. Game 3 he 19 points, shooting 3 - 15 from the field. But... somehow I liked him in Game 3 better. He played poorly, but attacked the paint. Game 4, Wemby (who didn't play in Game 3) got in to his head and Avdija was afraid to shoot in the paint or drive to the paint in order to shoot and he wasn't the only one. Wemby really got inside the heads of the Blazers.

Splitter coached poorly Game 4 imho. Too many times, Wemby and Danny were on the bench in the same time. Every minute Wemby rested, Danny should have been on the court to attack the rim. He is best in the league this season in doing so and those were the moments for Blazers to get few easy baskets + maybe force Wemby to rest less.

Spurs are a beauty to watch. They just switched it on in the 3rd quarter, shooting tough three pointers, hermetic defense and Wemby and his move are just amazing to watch on both sides of the floor. Game 3 they had Castle and Harper. Game 4 Fox and Wemby. You add Johnson (6th man of the Year) and Vassel and it's so hard to stop them...

Lakers Game 7 with Reaves and Luca on the floor? Can't say it's impossible scenario...

In the East, we can see that besides Boston, all favorites struggle big time. Knicks and Cavs return home to pivotal Game 5 and Pistons return home in elimination game, but not the one they hoped for... Unlike Thunder and Spurs dominating the West, East is completely open for grabs and it's probably Boston's to lose...

Nuggets somehow again in the driver seat, with Ant and Donte out for the series and Game 6 will be just huge... Wonder who Spurs are rooting for... Anyway, Wolves can win at home, but after such injuries, Denver surely feel they have a chance here.

Thunder the only team in Round 1 to sweep - not really surprising I guess...

How are the Celtics so bad at home last few years. Have to do a better job of playing against them as home fans. Too many great opportunities missed

This series has featured pretty solid pace, but blah shooting. Finally, a big half.

So, maybe time to stalk a 2h under? Same in Detroit as that has slowed quite a bit.
