  • Kinda weak opener for UFC card outside the Apex, with 2 non-de-script bantamweights trying to get noticed. Chandler (6-3) is a athletic grappler with good size for division vs Edwards (14-6) a technical striker that pushes pace. She got a sub win i n her last fight (a new wrinkle) but remain 1-2 in last 3...same as Chandler. I think it's a lock to go over but odds are way too high, so even though I do lean Edwards, I'll take a small shot on the dog a good plus money.
  • Cuamba (8-3) lost his first 2 UFC fights on decision, but looked OK in the process. Romero (8-4-1) also has not won in the UFC so far at 0-1, he is a fierce competitor who has a very aggressive style. He's able to bring a mad striking onslaught mixed with opportunistic wrestling, at least on the regional level. This is Timmy likes to control the center too, so I see it very possible he could land a big knee or uppercut catching Romero on his entry for a mild upset.
  • Polyana (13-7) would be best suited to move on to a different profession as she's just not suited to deal with these UFC killers. Amorim (9-1) has looked great with 3 straight finishes, all by sub. She's a top level BJJ specialist with good grappling and a killer instinct when to "finish her". Odds are crazy high so I'll look for a prop play or just stand aside. Viana is an attractive 332yo, but her fight career is on the ropes after going 3-6 in last 9...1-3 in L4.
  • Saaiman (9-2) welcomes newcomer Wellmaker (8-0) in what looks like a coin flip. Malcolm has reach, power and is a proven finisher, not to mention undefeated while Cameron is more experienced with a high volume/technical striking style. He won his first 3 in UFC before getting 2 tough matchup losses in his last 2. I';; favor Wellmaker on size and power. I would expect he will let fly early and try and test Saaiman's chin.

Should be a fun card with at least 3 meaningful bouts...

My year has been sputtering to say the least, but there were several spots I thought I was close to winning when it didn't happen, with several bad decisions that went against me as well. Still it is what it is, so "LETS FUCKING GO"!!!

❌2/2.40 Jaqueline Amorim wins in round 1 +120
2.46/2 Jaqualine Amorim vs Polyana Viana u1½ -123
3/2.56 Malcolm Wellmaker -117
2/2.80 Cameron Saaiman/Malcolm Wellmaker u2½ +140

Prelims on the Duece:
  • 4/2.65 Da'Mon Blackshear/Alatengheili o2½ -151
  • 4.35/3 Chris Gutierrez -145
  • 3/1.40 Gauge Young/Evan Elder o2½ -215
  • 4.35/3 Matt Schnell -145

  • Gutierrez (21-5-2) has been a solid worker in the UFC for over 6 years with a solid 9-3-1 record in the octagon. He's 2-2 in L4 after an 8 fight unbeaten streak! Fairly well rounded but has been known to lean on low kicks early on. With Castaneda (21-7) a good technical striker in his own right, it'll be interesting how this fight starts out. "Sexi Mexi" will likely hold the advantage when they hit the may, so it's paramount how the fight plays out.

On the other hand I don't really see him able to hold "El Guapo" on the ground. He has 72% TDD but when taken down, he's always been able to get right back to his feet. Should be very interesting, but I'll roll with "El Guapo" Gutierrez.
  • Schnell (16-9) vs Flick (17-7) is yet another classic striker-vs-grappler showdown, with Schnell laying chalk in what’s expected to be his retirement fight. His distinct edge in striking vs elite level flyweights along with his distance management should allow him to control the fight. Flick will be very dangerous if he gets the fight to the ground. I do expect Schnell keeps the fight standing, lands cleaner shots, controls pace...possibly securing a late finish but more likely a decision win.

  • Muniz (24-6) and Aliskerov (15-2) have been scheduled to fight twice before with Muniz pulling out both times. Ikram has had trouble finding opponents since arriving in the UFC. He was finished in R1 vs Whittaker a year ago but he had finished hi previous 3 including 1 sub in DWCS and 2 KOs in the UFC. Aliskerov has a huge kicking game and is a power striker through and through. He will push the pace and most likely get an early KO win. Odds are crazy high.

I was helped by a very poor decision in Gutierrez fight, but I've lost quite a few of them so I was due. Was going to take Prates in the main event but ended up laying off as I was quite happy with my best night of the year.
