Chile vs Portugal
Under 2.5 @ 1.88 $400 to win $320
Chile -0.25 @ 1.96 $200 to win $192
Chile have played fantastic football the past few weeks. However, let it be known that this squad is the most traveled team in the tourney. In 4 games they have traveled across Canada 3 times within a span of 12 days. Amazingly enough though, they are still undefeated and manage to play attractive football. My only worry is that this will soon take into effect, yes these players are young and may have a lot of energy but in reality it is very hard for any player both amateur and professional. Consistently changing time zones, getting on and off the plane can over time wear down a player. Now to make matters worse, Chile will be without their captain Carlos Carmona who has done a fine job leading his troops. His abscene will leave a little gap on the left however i think Arturo Vidal and Mathias Vidangossy who i believe is the current Tournament MVP, will be enough. On the other side though, you have Portugal who came into the tournament with high expectations. They opened with a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Kiwi only to face a tough 2nd game against the Mexicans and went down 2-1. To make matters worse they lose to Gambia and they lose their captain Bruno Gama. Gama is extremely crucial to controlling the pace of play for Portugal and his loss is a huge blow especially to the offense. Yes the Portugese did field a weakened side vs Gambia but they now must realize they will have to be mentally prepared against a very spirited Chilean side. Chile have kept 3 clean sheets thanks to the great display of their goalie Christopher Toselli. Excellent saves vs Austria kept the clean sheet and i expect him to be on guard again. I think we'll see a lot of shots blazing all over the place from the distance. But the defenses will tighten up especially knowning this is a knock out stage. Both teams have traveled a ways to get to Edmonton, Chile flew in from Toronto while Portugal flew in from Montreal. We'll see some fatigued legs so i think the pace will slow down just a tad bit. I do favor the Chileans though, i think being familiar with the Edmonton ground will be key because it is natural turf whereas Portugal have been playing on artificial turf in their 3 games. Tight match so i don't see a lot of goals in this one.
Prediction: Chile 1-0 Portugal
