Do Non-Steeler Fans Know Tomlin Sucks?

Never had a losing season with the Steelers. Edit: That was already mentioned haha. I don't think he's a bad coach at all.

As the foremost expert on bad coaches I would say that yes Tomlin does suck but he's Lombardi compared to the idiot he faced in week 1.

I’m gonna bump this thread probably every week.

So the Kaleb Johnson thing - idk, that ultimately cost us the game but there were a few things that Tomlin did today that just sucked that he’s been criticized for before - no adjustments from previous seasons

4th and 1 on the 50 and he doesn’t go for it, as the Pittsburgh post gazette put it “they are living in their fears”

I don’t know this for sure, but I’m pretty sure that every pass that darnold threw in the 2H was right down the middle. Some of that might be tied to injuries on the Steelers defensive, but to do nothing about it makes no sense

The end of the game - Steelers are down 14 with 3:20 and 3 timeouts. It’s pretty unlikely the Steelers would come back and win but there is no reason not to at least try. Rodgers takes a sack on first down, they let the playclock get down to 15. 2nd down Rodgers completes a pass, and the 3rd down snal comes with 20 seconds on the playclock. I don’t get it - try to score quick and there’s a chance you can at least get the ball back
We're so back with Steelers threads!

Game plan looked solid last week vs Bills lol ...
Think your Jets will get better as the season goes on thou ..

I didn’t see a discussion thread up yet so I’ll post this here… over anyone?

From Jack Sperry on Twitter

The Good News:

The Steelers have killed Lou Anarumo defenses over the last 3 years, as the Steelers average 358.1 yards per game and 27.3 points per game in their last 6 matchups.

The Bad News:

The Steelers have been killed by Shane Steichen every time he's been the offensive playcaller vs. them, giving up 377 yards per game and 30.7 points per game on average in the 3 games he's called offensive plays vs. PIT going back to 2022.

Warren will have a career game

Ask Tennessee how it turned out letting a good coach go. Be careful what you wish for.
Titans let’s go of an overachieving coach that was putting them into a position they had no business being in. Tomlin hasn’t won a playoff game in nearly a decade and is living in an era that doesn’t allow for him to ever have championship level success.

I don’t see the comparison. If the Steelers sucks ass for 5 years and fire a coach or two and are building towards a future (which might be what’s needed) then that’s fine - I would take that all day rather then accepting no championships, no playoff wins, and a 9-8 record year after year.

Has it really been that long for a playoff win? Wow.

I figured 5-6 years.

Unfortunately it's not just him. His DC is terrible, the OC is nothing to write home about and the front office continues to draft average at best with a side of terrible FA moves.
The DC is a stool pigeon that does whatever Tomlin wants. Highest paid defense in the league for the worst production in the league. The middle of the field looked like the parting of the Red Sea yesterday.

The offense - Arthur Smith should show up to collect his paycheck with a gun and a mask. 3rd and 6 on the biggest play of the game and you line up in an illegal formation. I saw a funny or sad stat that the Steelers have 1100 yards receiving this year. Pickens also has 1100 yards this season. It’s painful to watch. Every week I watch every team throw for first downs, on first down. The Steelers are playing for 3rd and 4.

FUCKING A

Arthur Smith should just live off his Fed Ex shares instead of stealing an NFL paycheck.

Should be a coaching shit test this Sunday ..With Mcdummy and Tomlin. Wouldn't be surprised if Brady's shit show game plan leads to Josh being decapitated. Brady's stock as a future college/pro head coach has fallen off a cliff over the last 5 weeks. Once a chalky favorite for several big jobs lol ...

Mcdummy meanwhile will probably make Warren and Gainwell look like Payton and Dickerson ..

This thread is so valuable. Between Spurs and Steez it is basically what we all need when our teams lose a big game.

I'm also amazed it didn't go up in flames when Spurs won Europa

From Reddit:

I live on the other side of Pennsylvania, near Philly. I have an up close view of how the Eagles run their franchise. You know what happens when a coach doesn't have sustained success? They are fired. They are half accountable. In 2017, Doug Pedersen guided the Eagles to their first Super Bowl in franchise history, four years later he was fired because they were no longer winning. They hired Nick Siriani, and two years later they were back in the Super Bowl.

In 2023, they experienced an epic collapse and Siriani was basically coaching for his job. He either needed a deep playoff run, or a Super Bowl victory, or he was probably gone. He ended up winning the Super Bowl. This year the offense is struggling, and while the Eagles are 8-4, there are rumblings that Siriani's seat is getting warm again. That's how a franchise operates when their standard is championship or bust. The Steelers standard is no longer championship or bust.

Two things can be true, Tomlin is a good head coach. I will forever be grateful for him helping us get another Super Bowl, and taking us to another. His first decade as Steelers head coach was very good. However, the game has passed him by. Tomlin has hit his expiration date in Pittsburgh, and that's okay. Change is sometimes good, and sometimes necessary.

In the modern NFL, you either adapt or die. Rooney can either decide to make a change, and adapt, or he can cling to the Steelers way, and let the franchise die. The Steelers will just be spinning their wheels until Rooney decides to clean house.

I wouldn't want to hire Tomlin but I can say that the outside perception is that he's a great coach that just needs a change of scenery. The majority of Jets and Giants fans that i know all view him as the "dream" candidate if he were ever available. Personally I hope he leaves Pittsburgh and the Giants stupidly hire him so I don't have to hear the inevitable Jets rumors once Glenn is canned.
