Last year MyBookie did not post ANY Dll playoff games. And right now I'm pessimistic they will this year. We believe they base their releases from Massey odds and yesterday Massey did not have any Dll playoff matchups on their site and this morning their site is down. I will wait to message MB until I know Massey lines are available.

So this could be a whole bunch of nothing, as it was last year. I'd like to follow along a bit so hopefully there will be some betting action to be had.

Earlier this morning before Massey crashed, it had only the Nov 27th Tuskeegee/Alabama St game listed. So not inspiring confidence at this point.

I'll continue to treat it like a normal week and post my thoughts.

Valdosta, Duluth, and Mankato are the 3 road teams that should actually be favored.

I will disclaim once for the rest of the thread, I have not seen almost all these teams play and have not followed this subdivision other than for a couple hours while lines are released Saturday morning and then checking final scores. I do try and bet it by comparing other PRs to the odds available and briefily looking at some recent history. CPA has been helpful to my understanding of who these teams are.

With that said, Valdosta has had a good finish to the season and I guess that is who we should believe they are at the moment. But are they that much better than Albany or do you think they should be favored in terms of perception and name/brand people know which will effect the betting line?

I was going by Massey numbers. If you go by his numbers, Valdosta is 4.53 points higher but im not sure how the hfa for Albany would be quanified in that.

But going back to Valdosta, it also goes back to them playing in a better league, (even though its only 3 other teams). Same goes for Duluth and Mankato who play in the NSIC. That is traditionally a better league than the Great Lakes that Findlay and Ashland play in.

Ferris has been really sloppy the last couple of weeks turning over the ball. Seems like if you can spread them out on defense, they've had some issues

I sent them a message. Previously I have chatted with them on suggestions or whatever. Maybe the message/email thing will get to the right person.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news:

Concerning the Division 2 Football games this Saturday, unfortunately we will not have those lines available.

I don't know if more people requested them it could change their mind, but probably not. Who's got the Dll local connection, haha

I thought I could create a pick'em like I did before with FCS, the officefootballpool thing changed to something called splash and another name runyourpool, it's all the same, but they don't have any Dll games. I don't know how to do a google form style pick'em. Likely not enough interest here anyway, but would be nice to be involved somehow

Not sure if it will make a difference but I just shot them a long detailed request about it so will keep you posted once they respond to my ticket.

Reads like a copy and paste but at least they didn’t give a firm no, so there’s hope haha.

Rest assured, we will add the lines for this market, once we have information on the odds from our official sources.

Thank you for your patience during this time. We hope you continue to enjoy our currently available markets.

Maybe more people asking they are like 'ok maybe' or just different people responding in different ways without actually knowing

Lines from Massey. I made the moneyline ones.

Yeah we probably can't bet them, but I'm still excited for them. Allegedly they are all on ESPN+. 12 kick at 1:00. Quick thoughts.

*Bentley and Assumption seem outclassed
*JC Smith probably my favorite play. (-6.5)
*Virginia Union/ California PA seems like more of a rock fight for a 58.5 total.

*Valdosta/Albany probably 2nd most intriguing matchup for me. I keep going back and forth on this one. Can Valdosta keep their MOJO?
*Wingate -20.5 seems aggressive. Like the points and maybe the under here.
*West Florida has all the tools to win this region. Superb talent. Negatives are their secondary is a sieve and unreliable kicking game. North Greenville can throw. This is a rematch. West Florida had 7 sacks. Big key to this game is if NG can keep the QB upright. If so, shootout here we come.
*Newberry/Kentucky St. Honestly no feel at all fir this game.

*Northwood/Ferris. Ferris D has been a little shaky lately. But Northwood doesn't have the personnel exploit Ferris.
*Duluth/Ashland. Duluth road favorite and I just dont see Duluth losing here.
*Mankato/Findlay. Mankato another road favorite. I'm not as high on them as Duluth. But they have the playoff pedigree in their corner
*Truman/Indy. Another rematch. Indy just has too much firepower.

*NW Mizz St/Harding. Definitely best matchup 1st round. Harding untested all year. No real opinion either way, just gonna sit back and watch Harding and their flex bone.
*Chadron St/Pitt. This line seemed high to me. Pitt off huge emotional win over NWMSt. I don't think Chad can score enough to win, but I think I like them to cover.
*UTPB/Pueblo. Pueblo living the charmed life. Falling behind and playing catchup and pulling out wins. I think UTPB has the ammo to pull off the upset.
*CentWash/Western Colorado. Kind of down on WC. Think UCW handles business here relatively easy.

Very differing opinions of Valdosta between Massey and the other two. Massey less high on JC Smith and Virginia Union

Very differing opinions of Valdosta between Massey and the other two. Massey less high on JC Smith and Virginia Union

In your view does that align with the belief that historical trend on teams is more invovled with Massey odds? I have no reference on any of these teams to know if they have been good or have been not good which could effect some odd calculations but not be factored in other power ratings

You hear handicappers talk about teams they've adjusted either up or down in a season based on what their numbers were to start a season. From what I've seen this season, Massey seems a bit more historical and takes longer to adjust his "number" on teams.

Earlier in the year, we were fading Valdosta, because their numbers were super inflated week in and week out. I felt the same with Colorado Mines.

Now Valdosta rebounded midway through the season. And does their "number" now reflect more history or more merit based? Interesting. Because I see them more as a small favorite than a 13 point dog that SP has or 9 that Reddit has.

Virginia Union is a perennial power in their league, while JC Smith is a relative newcomer to being year in, year out a factor in their league.

I'm going to do a lot of research this off-season and see if I cam have a better answer for this question next season.

I downloaded the weekly S&P+ and Reddit spreadsheets. If those might be of use to you this offseason let me know, I might be able to share them with you easier than if you were to try and track them down if you had the desire to do so.

1763878305666.png
1763878327878.png

I'm not following without skin in the game, but feel like should keep the thread current

Just as well MB didn't post lines last week. Would've been bad for me. JC Smith, Duluth, and Central Wash all losing would've buried me. UTPB winning wouldn't have salvaged the day.

Anyway. We won't be able to bet these, but I'll still post lines from Massey for the rest of the playoffs and give my thoughts on the games.

Looks like Ferris St and Harding will be on a collision course. Kutztown has no threat until the semis. Only real drama not set is the winner of SR 2. But I still think it's West Florida to lose.

A final four of Kutztown, West Florida, Harding, Ferris St wouldn't be bad.

Lines for Saturday:

Assumption 49.5
Kutztown -27.5

Frostburg 51.5
Cal PA. -3.5

Benedict. 47.5
Albany St. -17.5

Newberry. 60.5
West Florida. -17.5

Ashland. 58 5
Ferris St. -27.5

Mankato. 61.5
Indy. -4.5

Pitt St. 53.5
Harding. -16.5

UTPB. 52.5
Western Colorado -3.5

Should have some weather at Indy and Ferris today. 3 rematches today.

Kutztown rematch with Assumption. Assumption might be playing with a 3rd string qb. Kutztown won 52-0 last week. I can't see much of a difference today. Kutztown -27.5 for me.

Frostburg/Cal. Another rematch. Funky 1st game. I think I like the under best, with Frostburg covering

Albany/Benedict part 3. Benedict off an improbable win. Seems like a big letdown today. Albany won both meetings. 31-3 and 22-6.

Mankato/Indy probably best game on paper today. Can Mankato and their playoff history shut down Indy?

UTPB goes to Gunnison off a big win at Pueblo. Gonna be cold. But UTPB would be my best bet of the day.

UTPB came through despite being down 15-0 in the 4th and having 3 fgs blocked and an Xtra point blocked in OT.

Ferris rolled after trailing 14-0 in a snowstorm.

Mankato and their playoff experience was too much for Indy.

Kutztown was basically a scrimmage. Frostburg is their next victim.

Newberry was impressive. They probably get it done at Albany next week

Harding just overwhelmed Pitt. Score wasn't as close as the final score.

FAQ: Harlon Hill Trophy, An essential guide to the DII football award

The Harlon Hill finalists

Two players from each of the four super regions made up the 2025 Harlon Hill Trophy finalists. Curtis Allen, a senior running back from Virginia Union, and Kutztown quarterback Judd Novak advanced from Super Region One. Two that shared the field on Saturday in the second round of the playoffs, Newberry College's quarterback Reed Charpia and West Florida quarterback Marcus Stokes, moved on from Super Region Two.

From Super Region Three, two quarterbacks, MSU Moorhead's Jack Strand and UIndy's Gavin Sukup, claimed the two finalist spots. Harding's running back Andrew Miller and Western Colorado's quarterback Drew Nash garnered the two finalist slots from Super Region Four.

Harlon Hill 2025 breakdown

  • The odds are likely that yet another quarterback will win the award. There is just two running backs and no wide receivers or defenders among the finalists. The previous 10 winners have all been quarterbacks.
  • Only MSU Moorhead's Jack Strand did not make the 2025 DII football championship. However, Strand led the Dragons to an 8-3 mark, their best record since 2018.
  • Novak, Charpia and Miller are all still playing in the DII football championship quarterfinals on Dec. 6.
  • We will have history in 2025 as none of the finalists hail from a school that has previously won a Harlon Hill Trophy.
  • VUU's Allen is second in all of college football with 2,386 yards rushing, winning the DII football rushing title by more than 600 yards. His 30 rushing touchdowns are the most at any level.
  • Sukup, Strand, Charpia and Stokes all threw for more than 3,200 yards, landing each in the top 10 of DII for the season.
  • Strand led the division with 42 touchdown passes while Sukup was right behind at 41. They are two of three quarterbacks at any level (trailing Division III's Jaxon Schreiber's 47) to throw for 40 touchdowns this season.
  • Sukup and Strand became the first Harlon Hill finalists from their respective schools.

Hadn't got around to this yet. Obviously will be no lines to bet. Looks like 3 blowouts with Kutztown, Ferris, and Harding all should win comfortably.

The other game, Albany and Newberry, I think Newberry wins outright as a 6.5 pt dog at Albany.

Actually there is another bowl game. NE Oklahoma and East Central play in a bowl as well.

As far as the Harlon Hil, Curtis Allen is a slam dunk winner. A QB will not win this, as that article eluded to doing so.

They'll lose today, but remember the name, Kris McCullough, HC at UTPB. Don't be surprised if you seeing him as a HC at a D1 program in the not so distant future.

Bet365 at times puts DII football lines up and definitely put DII and sometimes DIII basketball lines up

Would've been nice to get to bet Newberry as a dog yesterday. Oh well.

Semis are set

Newberry at Ferris St
Harding at Kutztown St.

Harding kind of got done dirty having to go to Kutztown, but I don't think it matters anyway. Setting up for a monster showdown of Harding/Ferris.

UTPB had a shot to beat Harding, but their kicking game failed them again.

Semis today:

12:00 pm Newberry at Ferris St. Ferris is -34.5 on Massey with a total of 66.5. Gonna be 10° a kickoff with windchill below zero. Newberry can't run the ball. I can't see them throwing either in the cold today being from South Carolina, they've never experienced anything close to the conditions they'll face today.

3:30 pm Harding at Kutztown St. Harding is -6.5 with a total of 57.5. Harding feels slighted having to go on the road for this one. Its so hard to prepare for Harding's flexbone offense on 1 week prep time. This line seems short. Kutztown hasn't been tested all year. This is Harding's 15th game in 15 weeks.

Both games are on ESPN+. If you have it, do yourself a favor a flip over for a minute just to watch Harding on offense. It's fun to watch

Massey has Ferris -2.5 with a total of 71.5

We get the game we've been clamoring for all season. Consensus #1 all season, Ferris St, vs Consensus #2 all season, Harding.

Thankfully with them realigning the regions, we are able to have these 2 play for a title. Last year they were in the same region and met in the quarters with Ferris winning 41-7.

Seems like a cheap price on Ferris. They seem to have the blueprint on stopping the flexbone. Harding was done no favors going to Kutztown last week now to McKinney TX this week. Should be a closer game than last year, but I'll go Ferris 35-24.
