They could be in a new city by the fall, they definitely should just from a dollars perspective
Any other arena they are going to play in has 3x or more seats available
Houston, Kansas City, Quebec City, could all host for a year, even if it's just a temporary move, and sell out every game I bet

That land is complete ditch land right by the airport, why it took forever to even get a vote. Problem for the Yotes is Tempe is basically the one educated suburb and the worst to get a vote to pass that involves tax dollars. This passes in Scottsdale or Mesa. Would have been perfect for a team that struggles to sell tickets in Glendale for sure.

They'd prefer not moving to KC or houston or atlanta asap because the team is so bad, and will be for at least a few more years, they dont want to sour the market and prefer to wait for expansion for those cities so they can be competitive like vegas and Seattle have been

While getting rid of them and starting fresh seems the better option, hopefully once they've committed a chunk of their own change they'll be more committed to trying to field a quality product. Had a feeling Mesa would be the landing spot if they stayed as long as it doesn't involve a ton of public funding. Not quite sure where in Mesa but it would be East Valley which opens up Scottsdale and Tempe money as well as much easier access for all the hockey and soccer mom type families in Chandler and Gilbert for much easier access.

Obviously my hockey knowledge is limited at best but at least this is very good news, no taxpayer dollars involved (100% cash deal supposedly) and the location is pristine. The land goes to auction in June by the state and the Yotes won't be outbid. Looks incredible, point of reference is this is only about 3 miles from TPC Scottsdale and only about a mile West and South of Grayhawk. Scottsdale Road and the 101 so right off the major freeway in the Northeast Valley which is where a ton of the money is. Also within 3-4 miles of the Ice Den where a lot of the youth and tournament hockey events are held as well as free skating.

No vote will help although the Scottsdale mayor has issues with the location and the access to Scottsdale Road which the boundary between the two cities. The infrastructure could get a little messy with legal deeds/access easements. But best that it's all about not needing taxpayer dollars, the buildout of the exit to the West completely falls into the auction and they will have to utilize Phoenix electric/sewer/water etc. Think they'll make that work.

Utah sounds like it would be great hockey spot. I’d rather they move a team back to Quebec, but I can deal with Utah.
And if the NHL ends up bringing another franchise back to Atlanta, as has been talked about very seriously recently, there should be a revolt. They’ve had multiple chances, fuck them.
