Clemson vs. Texas Discussion Thread

Yea I wasn’t really thinking bout that, nil and portal is keeping these fuckers around forever!! Can’t blame them I rather have 4 mil and banging college chicks than struggling to make a nfl roster or playing in the cfl!
Thought I saw it on here somewhere but all of it has become so mundane to me at this point it sticks for less than half a second. Can't see him being drafted til maybe the third round at best? No idea how that grades out

Normal year I’d agree he shouldn’t be touched till the 3rd, this year the pool of qb’s so weak it might be one the few times it could make sense to come out over nil cause a desperate team could pull trigger way early (still dunno how giants decided to grab jones 6th?!?!?!?) I don’t follow draft boards or any that shit so I have no clue but I agree w you his life prob be way better taking 4 mil in nil and going to some college to see how many hotties he can bang! Think you get a lot more play as big man on campus than rookie qb struggling to make a nfl team! Neither prob do bad but id take the Money and extra year or 2 of college girls!!

Thing is scouts actually graded Jones/Lock/Wilson etc fairly high and I don't think I've seen them grade Ewers as anything better than a likely whiff. Not your standard draft for sure with lack of QBs but even in those kind of drafts there have been some high floor guys. I don't even hear anything about that with him lol....nor any of them. Heard a thought this week floating that Sanders to NYG then Deion follows him as coach. Granted that same rumor was about Dallas two weeks ago and not sure what's changed much but what a terrible year to need a QB. Can't imagine someone throws a flier on most of these dudes til lated day 2 or day 3. Prolly already got someone onl the practice squad just as prepared.

Giants drafting lock would make perfect sense cause he has no chance to be a nfl starter, a good one anyways! Seems to be their MO. I do blame some of it on their garbage coach everyone loves but he had at least 2 nfl WRs, one who could be very good and he never did much of anything.

No I heard Giants drafting Sanders and Deion coming with to be coach

Shedeur is the only NFL QB in this draft that makes sense to me and also makes sense Prime would go to NYC with him

No chance of the Giants ever hiring Deion. The package deal would be to the Raiders.

Dabo a pretty large advantage at coach vs Sark....Sark choked both games away vs Georgia this year....Dabo been playing (and winning a decent amount) of these games for a decade.....I'll take Klubnik over Ewers.....Its not like the Texas D is light years ahead of Clemson D.....11.5 points is too many....

Sark will go for it on 4th down and call a terrible play.....
Still pinning Clemson there with Texas defense v Clemson offense would be a better option than kicking lol

Sark is a great offensive mind fwiw, not sure where that comes from in the first place. Execution on the other hand is where the concern comes from.

Sarkisian is extremely innovative but he's showing holes in-game with adjustments and play calling. National semi last year vs. Washington. Red zone chance to win the game. Atrocious play calling at that point. Georgia last week, one week after it had gotten killed with by GT with a mobile QB and the one read. Sarkisian's response to that? Get Manning all of one snap in the SEC championship game. Those are just a couple examples. People are still mystified with the Georgia game, especially Sarkisian's response after the game: "We probably should have considered Arch a little more." Da hell? Who was game planning?

You can be an offensive savant but if you're not applying that, for whatever reason, in game then it's sorta worthless.

I have thought all season that Arch should be starting and really don't think Ewers is good at all.

I think the world of Sark as an offensive playcaller and game planner. I do think he is still learning the other aspects of being the head coach in game for sure.

He's been a head coach long enough where he shouldn't have to still be learning aspects of the job.

Perhaps discussed elsewhere but it's going to be interesting on how these 4 "home" games look vs. involvement from the NCAA. Sounds like the latter will have some hand. For example, no home team logo(s) on the field. CFP-related, instead. I hope this isn't the case as it should be a true home game in all respects.

I can't remember if it was here or elsewhere that I heard that the visiting teams are allowed to have their pre-game hype videos played on the jumbotron. Maybe not a big deal, but it does seem there are multiple things that chip away at the home field advantage aspect

The only thing that worries me is it feels too easy to take Clemson with all these points.
In the FBS playoffs, big dogs (8.5+) with relatively poor average yardage margins (less than +100 yards per game) have been disasters:

Michigan State (lost 38-0 to Alabama as +10)
Notre Dame (lost 30-3 to Clemson as +13)
TCU (lost 65-7 to UGA as +13.5)

Of course, with the expanded field, a team with relatively mediocre stats will be less of an outlier.

In other words, will they be building a hill at one end of DKR?

I'd rather have sark than dabo. Dabo will kick an 18 yard FG.
Times change. He could have run out the clock against UVA but threw a long bomb for a TD with like 2 minutes left. Coincidentally (?) it put Clemson back ahead of the spread. Unfortunately, UVA tacked on another TD to get the back door cover.

Interesting, I figured these were mostly stock home games.

Begs the question, is the allotment of tickets for the visiting team more than it typically is for a regular season game? Pretty sure they do they in the NFL but it's slight....these are much larger stadiums than NFL though.

Suspect. Still think he's coming out based upon the reporting in Austin.

If true, he should stay in college. If he is good enough to make an NFL roster he will do so one year later. He can set himself up with a nice future with the college monay he has made and can make next year. I think of the Aesop Fable and the dog that has a bone, sees his own reflection in the water and drops his bone to go after the other dog's bone,; he ended up with none.

It's smaller than the allotment for SEC games. I don't know what is typical for the B1G or Notre Dame in the regular season.

Didn't realize Mafah was so dinged up (shoulder) and was a non-contributor v. SMU and his contributions may be limited on Saturday. After Mafah, not a whole lot of RB reliability for Clemson.

My only rebuttal would be this a incredibly weak class coming out this year and you know how desperate and often really stupid teams that don’t have a qb get (see Daniel jones going 6th), I have no clue what kind of grade he has, he damn sure doesn’t look like a 1st round nfl qb to me but neither did johnnny manzel! Lol. For the most part I agree with you tho, I think if I’m any these kids and not a sure fire top 10 pick or maybe even if I was you be hard pressed to make me grow up if I can get 4 mil to keep partying w college ho’s and put off the nfl pressure and real life shit coming later! I’d kill for someone to give me 4-5 mil to go to college and stop worrying bout life crap!!

May take a shot at a juiced +14.5 if the line keeps rising as Inthink Dabo will have a gameplan in place that will keep this one interesting going into the 4th. Haven’t bet this one yet as no reason to rush if considering the dog.

Agree, think that's the best angle in this one. Like the fact that Sark might have every reason to keep some weapons/wrinkles (esp Manning packages) under wraps. If Horns win here, they'll likely be a DD fave again against ASU. They might be able to keep a lot of things off of tape for potential meeting with Oregon in the semis given that their D will be the best unit on the field in the first two rounds.

What’s going on? Manning going to play?
I have no idea. I need to look it up. I was committed early in this game.

I am more curious about the line move in SMU game. I was hoping it would get to +9 and it did. I got greedy and was waiting for even more. Line now 7.5

I think the initial live move higher on Penn State was due to teasers - it coincided with move higher on Texas and both happened heading up to kickoff in ND game. Then buyback overnight on SMU - less easy to explain that one.

Desmond said it's going to be a high scoring game so that should make everyone feel better about the under.

Texas wins this game by 3 plus touchdowns. I expect Ewers to play well.

As long as he plays decent not sure Clemson can hang, tigers have to have big plays, horns don’t really give up big plays and I just can’t see Clemson with long scoring drives without shooting thensekves in the foot.
